Bills Pipe Repair
มุมมอง 5363 ปีที่แล้ว
Bill reached out to me and told me about a pipe that he owned that he was interested in me attempting to repair. After initially refusing to perform the repair, I decided to do some research and figure out the best repair method. As it turns out, repairing a meerschaum lined bowl is not really that difficult. I decided to perform the repair Pro-Bono with the understanding between Bill and mysel...

Flamed Maple Poker
มุมมอง 4595 ปีที่แล้ว
This is my first attempt at making a pipe using my lathe. I chose to use a block of flamed maple that I have had for several years, and is fully seasoned. After failing the first attempt, I prepared a new block, and that is where this video picks up. I decided to make it 9mm filtered because I had never tried that either, so it was an added level of difficulty. Email me at: Tucsonpiper1@yahoo.com

I bought an antigravity lithium battery, fabricated a piece of aluminum that I attached to the underside of the seat rail, ran a new battery cable to it, and that’s that. I have a video about in on my channel.

If you go with the super cheap sanding belts get some duct tape and put it on the backing or use cloth it will greatly improve the durability of the cheap sand paper

Just found you. I started smoking a pipe 2 months ago, and have found that I much prefer smoking with a filter, because my tongue cane handle Virginias without one. I ago prefer 9mm over 6mm. I’m just curious, how is an 8mm reamer working for a 9mm filter? Also, since you seem to be a filter smoking guy what do you suggest for pipes? I don’t find many American pipe makers making pipes for filters. What pipes have you found that take 9mm?

I have used a tap from a tap-dye kit, screw the right size tap in it and you can usually pull it out.

Hi know this is Old video but on the knives you use Mora are very cheap to day and all of the imperfection in the wood can be hidden with no trace save all fine dust don't throw it away mix with some pva glue as long hole not gone right through the bowl if you do get any thats bad drill through and make dowels for it then cover using same technique then sand perfect

Looks rad. This is a bucket-list activity for me, for sure. Looking to source flawed or reject briar just for practice...To get the burl/rough part on top dark, do they just flame it or something? Love that aesthetic.

  • @dartusi_galgos_italianos

I did this on my Savinelli Tundra. I used a 8.3mm bit and worked just fine. I went a couple of mm too deep and the result is the filters moves Back and forth a little when you smoke, it does not bother me but watch out. This happened because when I devasted the first mm of the tenon (which it is slimmer than the rest of the tenon), I fortot to Compensate this lenght, my 8mm filter should stick out more than the 6 Mm now.

Total noob here, never made my own pipe, just watched a ton of videos and read a ton of stuff about it. Gotta say that's a gorgeous pipe! Very inspiring! I can't wait to get the tools and materials to make one myself. Great job on that! Thanks for sharing it with us. *Edit* Just finished the video. Man you're way too hard on yourself. At least in this video, I've yet to watch your others (but will soon.) If that was my first pipe I'd be over the freaking moon. Maybe that says something about my expectations, but I think honestly that turned out beautiful!

Hi there! I see you have a lot of experience with HS Studio pipes. Are their briars tasty? Do these pipes have the correct draw holes or are they too narrow? I would like to know about potential defects other than aesthetic defects. Especially in pipes with bamboo. Best regards from Poland. p.s. Are these pipes varnished or waxed?

I know it’ll be a bit of a task but is removing the air box and replacing it with the K&N filter pretty much that easy? That air box is a bitch to get to and I feel like this would a better option.
