No car manufacturer is using Hyundai as the bar to attain. Lincolns are a great departure from Ford while benefitting from sharing powertrains, which keeps service department costs down, and helps with parts availability. All Lincolns are designed to run on 87 octane fuel, which is a big competitive advantage in the luxury segment. I don’t shy away from the mother brand, because around the world, Ford is respected as a reliable brand. Americans like to drive European imports while Europeans drive Fords.

This is the dumbest comment. 90% of the interior is completely unique to this model, let alone the entire brand. You've evidently never sat inside a Black Label Lincoln.

Thanks for your kind words! I’ve not had a customer yet complain about the power or the performance of the vehicle. The buyer looking for a world class luxury vehicle won’t have any Ford Explorer on his or her list, no matter the horsepower. This vehicle is not a hard product to sell at all.

The release of a new model always depreciates the previous body style, unfortunately. Thus is life with depreciating assets. We are discounting our new ‘23s quite a bit, which isn’t helping the used ones.

IDK, man. Asian manufacturers work their tails off. If you want to nitpick, Ford engineering is fair game. Sevenfold increase in recalls since 2003. Chinese manufacturing has to be lower on the list of Ford’s problems.

Yes, this is our first vehicle assembled in a state of the art plant in China. I’m not shunting away my Chinese made iPhone anytime soon. So far these Nautilus are coming ahead of schedule and in perfect condition. The last vehicle launch from UAW plants, the 2020 Aviator, didn’t give our US factories any bragging rights.

Audrey, I’m not going to quarrel with you about the 2020 Aviator’s numerous quality issues. Every manufacturer, including GM’s Cadillac luxury division has it’s fair share of recalls and mechanical issues - the recent generation Escalade is a prime example. Following its annual Auto Reliability Survey, Consumer Reports released a list of the most reliable car brands. Like previous years, Toyota and Lexus are at the top of the list. And all of the other automakers in the top 10 are foreign brands - except for one: Lincoln. It’s the most reliable American car brand according to Consumer Reports. All of Lincoln’s product are manufactured in North America - the Corsair having 95% American content. My Nautilus (this is my second) was assembled in Oakville, Ontario, Canada with the V6 drivetrain coming from engine and transmission plants located in the United States. Given Lincoln’s improved reliability and the long history in America, it’s somewhat shocking that Ford and Lincoln will move the production of U.S.-market vehicles to China. Currently, Lincoln builds its U.S.-market models in North America, which are all luxury SUVs. The Aviator is made in Chicago, and the plant in Louisville, Kentucky is for the production of the Corsair and Navigator. Like you, I have an iPhone assembled in China with the bulk of it’s components manufactured in Chinese or other Asian plants. If I had purchased a Samsung, Google, or Amazon sourced product instead of Apple, that phone would have likely been assembled in Asia with Asian manufactured components. Unfortunately, the American consumer has very few, if any, choices to purchase a mobile device or computer that is assembled in this country. I wish that were different. When it comes to automobiles, Americans still have choices. With some exceptions, most Ford, GM and Stelantis (Chrysler, Dodge, Ram) vehicles are assembled in North American plants (including Mexico and Canada). Lincoln up to this point did not bring product in from Ford’s Chinese plant. Cadillac/Buick/GM plants in China assemble vehicles for the Asian market - with the exception of the Buick Invision - and do not export assembled vehicles produced in Chinese plants to the U.S. The German manufacturers (BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi) operate large plants in this country and in Mexico. Some Lexus and Acura models are assembled in U.S. plants. In other words, you are still able to purchase a vehicle that is assembled in this country with components manufactured in North American plants using American labor including the non-union plants operated by the aforementioned German and Asian manufacturers. Ford’s decision to scuttle the Oakville, Ontario assembly of the Nautilus and Ford Edge was for only one reason. The reason was to ramp of production of electric vehicles which include the F150 Lightning and Mustang MachE. GM had the same idea and quickly ramped up production of electric vehicles. The market is now flooded with electric vehicles that aren’t selling. How long has your Ford stores’ inventory of 166 F150 Lightnings and 80 Mustang MachE’s been on your lots? (Answer - an average of 142 days). I wouldn’t want to be in your owner’s shoes trying to recoup the investment in charging facilities and technology that Ford required. There’s also the ethical issue surrounding the Chinese Lincoln. Lincoln and Ford’s plant is a joint venture with Changan, a Chinese government state-owned company. And the authoritarian government is the entity most responsible for human rights abuses. The goodwill of Lincoln being named the most reliable American car brand by is probably short-lived. With the Nautilus being made in China at a plant with likely ties to slave labor in Xinjiang, there are ethical concerns about getting a Lincoln for American luxury SUV buyers.

I’m at a Lincoln dealership, and we don’t have any EVs here. Dealers have been pushing back hard on the manufacturers on them, but the manufacturers were all building them in order to meet requirements by the federal govt, which I’m sure you know. I’m convinced that most decisions American companies make that seemingly make no sense can be directly traced back to something the federal govt forced them to do. I would rather see them build in Mexico, and the Hermasillo plant was one of the finest in the world. But, unfortunately, crossing the border by rail became more and more problematic. If we’ve got to go overseas I’d rather see us build in India, but unfortunately, nobody consults me 😊. The American people change our leadership around and then we see US manufacturers change their behavior. Ford was doing lots of US factory stuff and creating more American jobs under the previous administration. Now we have a pro-China administration, so the auto makers shift.

Yes, we’ve addressed this in other comments. All smartphones are made in China, and the Nautilus is produced in a similar state of the art facility. These vehicles arrive ahead of schedule and in perfect condition without any manufacturing problems. Quite a refreshing change from the last UAW roll-out, the 2020 Aviator.

All signs are good so far! These cars are coming in fast and without problems, quite unlike UAW produced vehicles! The engine has been one of the most dependable for Ford and Lincoln alike for better than a decade.
