"Knitting for olive has a black friday sale" - IM GONE -BYE x)
😂 literally me
Your projects look amazing. 👏🏾 I really like your color choices . 🧶 I agree with you on the long raglans rows! I prefer an outside pull.
Thanks!! And I honestly probably agree on the outside pull being better. I have a feeling I would hate it when the yarn cake completely collapses haha
A tip….you can use a fingernail file to buff out the scratches on your wooden needle tips 😃 I did this after my cat chewed on my wooden needles ☹️
Thanks for the tip! Sorry you had to learn it the hard way 😅
Your Ingrid is beautiful! I feel the same way about raglan sweaters.
Love your laughter, so refreshing. I can relate to a lot of issues you had and I used to wonder if I am then only one who had these issues. Great video.
I reccomend putting the socks your knitting two at a time on one needle ( if its long enough), it makes it way easier !
I will have to try it! (But get a longer needle first lol)
Your Blouse no. 2 and tiered skirt look good together! 🧶
My order of Drops Air just arrived from woolwarehouse too! I got it in brown and the Drops Kidsilk in dark brown to knit a Novice cardigan by Petite knit for my daughter, I'm looking forward to casting it on 😊 the Drops Air feels SO soft!
It is so soft and your daughter will hopefully love wearing it!! Can’t believe I just discovered woolwarehouse. I will definitely be ordering from them again!
i actually just finished the autumn tales shawl by ozetta in drops air in mauve! i love the colour so much 🥰 i bet you will look lovely as an off-duty ballerina!
I bet your shawl looks gorgeous! Haha could mauve be the new fall color?! And thank you!! 😊
Hey just found your channel! Enjoying it so far thank you!! I just wanted to note that a lot of people have a different gauge when knitting with shorties so I’m wondering if your row gauge was significantly different on shorties and that’s why you had to lengthen the sleeves on your Monday sweater so much
You are so right! When I checked the row gauge on my sleeves, it was way smaller than what it needed to be. Definitely something I’ll check for on future sweaters!
Glad to see you back! I've missed seeing what you've been up to. The tissue paper "painting" is so cool! I just finished my Miles Shirt Jacket by Ozetta (ok, it's not completely finished. The pockets are drying before I can sew them on, and my buttons haven't arrived from Etsy yet. But, I'm wearing it regardless.) And I'm working on a Lanark Sweater for my husband that's been in semi-hibernation for a few months. I just haven't had the motivation to work on it, but finishing the Miles sparked some serotonin in me, so I'm back at it and should hopefully finish the body this week!
That’s amazing! The Miles Shirt Jacket is definitely on my list (but I just haven’t found the courage to take on such a big project haha). I love when projects go so well that they motivate us to work on other projects!
@laurarachellee honestly, it looks WAY more intimidating than it actually was. It's the fastest garment I've ever knit. It's on huge needles. There's nothing overly difficult about it. I say go for it!
Loved seeing your awesome art projects! I'm working on the Best Knit Cable Hat designed by Ashley Lillis. 🧶
That hat is so cute! I bet it is flying off of your needles with the super bulky yarn
I want both,.. I crochet and dont knit... but with your pattern I will have a go... with very cheap wool just in case :)
У тебя очень красивое имя. И мне нравятся твои две косы. 😊
Thanks for sharing your insights and project tips-they're really helpful! My bust circumference is 90 cm, which suggests a size small according to the stockholm slipover v-neck pattern. However, I'm wondering if, like you, I should consider a size medium instead. I love how yours fits! Could you recommend which size would be best for me? I'm in a decision crisis!
Hey there! I was also inbetween those two sizes, but I chose to go up to a medium because my gauge was 1 stitch tighter than the pattern gauge. Also, I wanted to have a little extra room to be able to layer thicker fabrics underneath the slip over. So for yours, it really depends on how you will be wearing it and what your gauge is! If you have a similar sweater or vest that you like the fit of, I would measure that and try to pick the size that will give you those measurements based on your gauge swatch 😊
I really like that you include the prices 😊
The 50 buttons😂Thank you for talking about the shoulders and the weaving in. For me as a beginner in reading/understanding patterns a lot make sense now. The saddle shoulders = beginning was already for me like '???' I was already lost at break the yarn and work on the second shoulder the same😆
Omg i’ve been looking for a checkerd vest pattern that wasn’t imposible for so long, this tutorial is everithing ❤
Love the colour on you and love how you used toggles instead of buttons too. I’ve just bought the pattern and going to start today. 😊
How many skeins of each color did you use? Thank you.
For my size, I used 2 balls of the white and 3 of the black. I wasn’t able to find this yarn/yardage on their website, so it never hurts to get a little extra if you are unsure!
I know you keep saying you're being nit picky, but I think it's great that you know what you do and don't like! Makes it less likely that you'll make those projects that seem beautiful in theory and then when you finish it's like 😐 ...I need to get better at this! I often get sucked into the beauty of a shiny new pattern
Hello, Laura! Your April cardigan looks beautiful) Just a small remark about KFO shop and the cost of their yarns: I do not know about shipping to your country, but in my case, there is quite a significant tax that one needs to pay additionally, so the real cost of one ball of mohair is not actually 7.75 euros, but app. 20% more ( my region is Poland)
You've probably figured out what to do with your wheat Gepard, but that yellowish color is always good for baby knits, if you know someone expecting! Little stroller/crib blankets are easy and gives you the opportunity to try new stitches! Plus, the new parents feel so special getting something handmade! Edit: I just saw a comment that mentioned changing the color with a mohair - I like that idea, too!!
You are so right! It is literally the perfect baby knit color, and the merino is so soft. I don’t know anyone who is expecting right now, but I can always knit a baby blanket and have it ready to gift when needed!
❤❤❤
I came out so good, I want to try as well (:
You can cut yarn with a box of dental floss eliminating the need for scissors on a plane 😊
This is genius! Thanks for the tip!
Personally, I love me an old man cardigan. They're so cozy. And I feel like theyre oddly stylish. Your cardigan is gorgeous! Edit: i cant remember, did you mention if you swatched for the Blouse No. 2? Bamboo and Cotton can really sag/stretch, and do not behave like wool fibers. Edit 2: My favorite sock blend is an 80/20. I find its a bit plumper and more durable. However, i really want to try the Bumblebee Acres Coquette Sock base. Its 75/20 Superwash Corriedale/Nylon, and while soft, its supposed to be very wooly and durable.
Honestly, it is so cozy and there will likely be more old man cardigans in my future! I did swatch for the blouse no 2, but I think the entire weight of the garment is what stretched it out. I’m making the body and sleeve a little shorter than I usually would in anticipation of the stretching! I’ve never heard of that sock yarn! I will have to pick some up if I ever come across it!
@@laurarachellee they're based out of Illinois, and I don't know if they wholesale, but its available online!
Totally agree with you regarding the Cascade Heritage. Stitches slipping and felting before finished. Also, beautiful cardigan!
Yeah I think I will try a few other yarns before returning to the Cascade. I have a feeling it isn’t going to hold up very well. Thanks!!
Love the saddle shoulder design of your Cardigan No. 9. 🧶🤩
My Favourite Things Knitwear knows what she is doing! Definitely worth weaving in all of those ends!
The red looks absolutely stunning! Definitely a good choice :)
Thank you!!
I feel the exact same way regarding cost yarn/projects. I try not to feel bad when the project is over 100 because when put into perspective it’s 130 for WEEKS of entertainment. That’s a good deal if you ask me. So even if the project didn’t turn out the way I wanted, the yarn served it’s purpose
Love your work! Is that an old craftsman lathe?
When i counted the sleeve pattern i got an odd number (75 instead of 76), and just ended up doing the last stitch as the next intended stitch. It still doesnt correlate as the body does, but it definitely looks way better, and symmetrical around the start and end of row. I also used some colour-stripe techniques to make it less ofset as i see yours is (just an idea till your next colourwork).
That green cardigan looks fabulous on you, and so professional, well done 💚
You could add a very subtle speckled mohair or even a darker shade mohair to the wheat and it would be a completely different color. I think wandering flock has some light speckled mohair that would be perfect.
You are so right! Knitting for Olive posts a lot of swatches on their Instagram about different colored mohairs mixed with their merino, so it might be time for a deep dive to see if they have any merino close to the wheat color (and see how this looks with different mohair colors)
I had the exact same problem with the musselburgh hat! Spent forever knitting it just to have a ridiculously baggy hat, won’t be re-knitting it.
It’s actually good to know I’m not the only one who had this issue! The good thing about knitting is that it can always be unraveled… but it really did take forever to knit the Musselburgh 😬
And the worst part is that I definitely knew it was going to be too big when I was like 60% through it but just kept going anyway because I’m stubborn
I just stumbled on your podcast. Love your knits. Are you going to knitcity Toronto?
Thanks! I am not going to knit city Toronto this year, but I would love to go to more fiber festivals! Would you recommend going to knit city?
This will be my first time going to knitcity. This is their first time in Toronto. I live in Peterborough Ontario Canada. I like Rhinebeck fiber festival the best.
That's so funny, I also got souvenir yarn from Paris from miss la motte and knit an Oslo hat for myself 😂 I did the mohair edition one which needs less yardage of the fingering weight (I was able to do the whole hat out of one skein) - in case you get more souvenir yarn in the future!
Haha that is great! If I don’t get much wear out of my Musselburgh hat, it’ll be good to know that miss la motte makes a good Oslo hat!
If you're not happy with the color of your Haraboji cardigan, you could always attempt to overdye it when you're done! or, if you're wanting it less yellow, try washing it with a purple shampoo (maybe... do some research on this first!)
Both sound promising (yet equally terrifying)! Thank goodness for swatches to test things on lol. I might try overdying some of the wheat color Woolia
Your projects look amazing! Love the mods you made to your Monday Sweater, especially the 2x2 rib and split hem. My Musselburgh Hat also turned out to big. I knit the adult medium.
Thank you! Okay and that makes me feel a little better that your Musselburgh hat came out too big as well… maybe the pattern just runs a little big 🤷♀️
TU for sharing ur trip to Paris ❤
I went into a shop just to get a size 2cable they asked what brand I preferred…. Well I said Knitpicks and the reaction was a lesson in snobbery!
Seriously! What I’ve learned is that they don’t have to be the most expensive ones to work well
I’m going to Paris in April and am planning on going to Lil Weasel as well!! And chiagoo’s are my favorite needle!!
That’s so awesome!!! I hope you get the chance to explore more yarn stores - only going to one is probably my biggest regret from the trip!
The avatar live action is right around the corner, we’re you planning to watch it? maybe you’ll find some video inspiration there
I watched the first episode and it was okay 😅 but I think I could definitely find some inspiration!
Your new background/surround layout looks great, beautiful. Love your blue and white sweater 💙🤍
Can you sell the cream yarn to someone locally (or at least in the US)?
Probably! Selling it might also give me a chance to get plugged into my local knitting community!
I saw the thumbnail and legitimately gasped! It turned out amazing! I am so so inspired.
Love the new background! Very cozy! Your porcelain sweater is gorgeous, and I can't wait to see your finished April cardigan! That color is so gorgeous. Just a word of caution regarding the sock blockers: I find they really cause the cuff to get loose. Blocking out the ribbing (in my opinion) defeats the purpose of making a stretchy cuff to keep the socks from sliding down. So, I don't actually block my socks UNLESS they're going to be a gift for someone and I want them to look nice for presentation (they do tend to shrink back up and gain back the elasticity after a wash). I just use them to take nice photos of my finished socks for my Ravelry page. For the Musselburgh, if you really want the folded brim, I've used a totally different yarn to finish off the decreases before when I've not had quite enough yarn. It folds up in on itself, so you don't really see it. Just choose a color roughly the same color as your main skein so it doesn't show through!
That is really good to know about the sock blockers! I still haven’t tried on the sock, but I will definitely pay attention to that when I do. And I can’t believe I didn’t think of adding a different yarn to the Musselburg! Thank you so much - that is probably exactly what I will do
