When I first heard this in the first boss fight, it was not only fitting but the boss itself was equally as intense. i was not prepared for that. Well done Atlus.
This game is the reason why i don't actually like much of the JRPG's available. This is my first JRPG, so i had the notion that a JRPG should have an adult storyline with adult characters. Only to find out later that most JRPG's are mostly "teenagers saving the world". Later in life though i came to accept that P2:EP is just the only kind of gem it is. I still played some JRPG's later but nothing was able to fill the hole that this game left in me.
My friends had me rate the persona themes (me having only played P5 and P1, on innocent sin right now) I have a ranking like schooling (A B C D F) with a perfect rank getting an S. Not even my own personal favorite songs that I'd blast on repeat get S rank. Ever. Most songs get B or C. (Persona 5 getting an A) This is the only theme that got an S rank from me and all my friends lost their minds XD
Metal Jun: It's okay you can stop suffering Tatusya: I'll accept my punishment, but not now I fucking love the voice acting in the original PS1 version because it's cheesy but I will always love the PS1 version of Persona 2 Eternal Punishment because it was the version I played for the first time
If I could relive the experience of any game I've ever played it would be Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. I was going through a rough time in my life and this game was what helped me understand myself a bit more and find hope in my seemingly hopeless situation. Long story short this game changed me.
This is the exact thing happening to me right now. I don’t even know what drew me to persona 2 but I beat innocent sin in 3 days, and now 20 hours into eternal punishment. It also helps that I’m currently about to finish my 2nd year at university.

The original writer/creator of persona left after P2 EP was finished. I believe Atlus wants to respect the original creator's work. And for the neglecting part, Atlus has been adding little easter eggs of P1 and 2 to 3 - 5, they are kinda acknowledging the existence of P1 and P2. But the only thing bothering me is that EP for the PSP is not in the west which is sad, I have been waiting for the Fan made translation patch for years now😢😢
