Did Chet Baker play coronet? “Once you can fake sincerity you’ve got it made.” B. Otto
Une merveille, bravo !!!!@❤
Fabulous!
Love this! Do more with you two! You’ve got this, Willie!
That's a real nice song Willie. Great band and nice video.
Sorry to hear bad news for both of you ..Willie did you get a flu or Covid vaccine before the face stroke some of the symptoms ? Know you said playing outside .. Hope both get will well soon ..
Toda una gran interpretación este legendario clásico del Jazz.
He changed mine too…. Legend!
Inspiring…..Just cancelled a filling appt for my back tooth. 😅
your an inspiration mate....thank you..
i love Wayne as much for his humility and kindness as i do for his playing. met him once and he was just as cool and nice as he seems
Wonderful. advice from a fabulous player!
You guys are a great inspiration to me. I also play trumpet and about 4 years ago the lower left quadrant of my chops just stopped working. I don’t know if it was Bell’s Palsey or Focal Dystonia but it was terrible. I couldn’t even play up to a tuning 3rd space C. Over time it has strengthened back up and I can access most of my previous range but I still don’t have full control over the embouchure as I once did.
You are both lifetime heroes of mine and your playing has given me joy and inspiration all of my life. Thank you for sharing your life experiences.
That is very kind of you! Thank you so much my friend!
Really great video, Willie. Just popped up on my feed and had to watch it when it involves you and Wayne and what an eye opener. I’ve been through my fair share of life changing events past couple of years and it’s really inspiring to watch both of you talk about your own problems and really delve into what it takes to overcome and accept the problems you’re both going through. God bless both you and Wayne. Thanks for the video!
Thank you guys! I am a fan of you both. I have seen Wayne in Clinics - three times and he has always been great. I am glad that Wayne is recovering. Willie hang in there. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Music and trumpet are your lives and it is interesting how your challenges have changed you. I identify with life changes changing me. When my wife passed away a 7 years ago I began re-evaluating everything. Work and long hours at the office became less important. People and relationships became much more important. Thank you again for taking time to share this.
Thanks so much for the vulnerable reply. Thankfully, I am now fully recovered. But yes, it does change you.
Great conversation guys - all the best from the UK.
Wayne has always been an inspiration thru his playing, but it's great to learn he's also an inspiration through his attitude and approach to dealing with challenges. Willie, with guys like that in your corner...you'll be back better than ever.
Bravo! In 2020 I was hospitalized with COVID and walked into the ER with O2 levels at 47%. I believe my Trumpet playing is what saved me becasuse I was using what little lung capacity I had left. My pulmonologist felt the same way because most people don't stay off the machine with O2's that low. It did me in for a while and I had to fight to just be able to get back to playing.....@65 I'm still figuring things out purely by accident and it is comforting to know that even you two monsters of the Trumpet are doing the very same. GOD bless you guys and I'll be saying some extra prayers your way.
I had bells palsy as well. Forget playing I had trouble eating or talking
When I was at Ft Sill as a trombone player, I got to play a concert with Wayne he was awesome, I really enjoyed it. Wayne was a pretty darn cool guy.
Great session. Wonderful seeing you both.
Damn, this video hit me hard. Thank you for this, we would love to see much much more. You are both great examples for us. Thank you.
I received dystonia and a diagnosis in 2020. I play a trumpet for 35 years. I appreciate this video heartily!
Thank you so so much Willie and Wayne. I can’t tell you how much I have idolised both of you for my entire playing life (I’m 21 and have been playing for 13 years) I have my wisdom teeth removal surgery coming up in about 2 months and I’m absolutely terrified about having the nerve hit. I know I’m still super young, but I know trumpet is my entire future life and career. This video has really helped me. Thank you again
Wayne & Willie thank you! Thank you for being honest and open with the journey you both have and are walking. I will be calling.
Thank you guys for your honesty, compassion and sharing. The rest of us need the openness and the wisdom you shared with us. Nobody escapes those moments that bring you to an unexpected stop, a stop that will force you to choose the tenacity to look for unexplored roads, or to quit what has been the essence of who you are. Sharing with people with similar problems will always be the best way out. God bless.
Great interview. Willie I met your dad at a show in Branson a few years ago. He was a great guy. Hope you recover soon
Willie, I know of what you speak. My whole trumpet career has been wrought with setbacks, problems and obstacles. With all I have gone through i immediately know what to tell a student and he hears me. There is a certain aura of talking to someone who has gone through what you have gone through and it makes it more REAL to the student. God gives them to me and I try to make them better people and players. You ROCK mi amigo.
Lesson learned by the two masters: Humility. Thanks for sharing. 🎶🎺🎺🫶🏾
Your 1000th sub! This was a great video and it reminds me of a friend of mine who has gone through a pretty rough patch with his playing after injuring himself
Beautiful video guys. Sending you lots of love. Please keep well.
Willie and Wayne..thank you....this is an important discussion....and so well presented....
Thanks for sharing, fellas... this was really special.
I have TMJ dysfunction, problems with my jaw and ears. And nerve problem in the palate. I'm a trumpet teacher. It's not to easy... Thanks for sharing!
All power to you both for putting this part of your lives out there. I'm having a similar battle to keep playing and take inspiration from your stories, Ryan's and Clark Terry's, to 'Keep on keeping on'.
I can't commend you two enough for putting this out. Excellent!! In 2001, I went through losing my top right middle tooth. My dentist put in a 5 tooth bridge. At that point, I would look at a high "C" above the staff and I knew what it felt like to play that note. I could hear it in my brain. But the moment I put the mouthpiece up to my chops, it was like playing the trumpet with someone else's mouth. I freaked out!! I remember thinking that I could play keyboards kind of OK? And I remember specifically talking to you (Wayne) about it. I said "When will it be like it was?" Your take on it was "It will never be like it was. That is not a bad thing or a good thing. It will just be different!" The moment that I embraced that, I started my journey to playing the trumpet again. It has been a struggle, but I am back - but different!
I’ve known and worked with both Wayne and Willie for years in LA and I’m truly sorry they’ve had to deal with these health issues. All things are possible with Christ and they’re in my prayers.
You have shared such deep feelings and thoughts, and I appreciate that more than you can imagine!
Wayne, Thank you for doing this valuable interview and allowing us to know what you have personally experienced. God bless you!
I understand Bells Paulsey. I had it 25 years ago and recovered. God Bless you both!
Very well done. Presented in such a relatable manner. Thank you.🙏
So glad you're doing great, Wayne!!!

Blessing to you Willie and your journey. You will be back stronger. God bless.
Thank you so much guys for your openness. Great inspiration 🙏
I really appreciate you all for sharing these life experiences with us! You are a great inspiration to all of us! 🎺🔥
I believe we have to go through the valleys in life to really appreciate the times we're on the mountaintops, but we can be sure that He is always with us along the way.
That´s nice to hear you´re back, Willie!! Greg is a nice guy that has helped a lot of musicians. I met him at ITG this year.
Such great guys, you are the best!!
