Yearning - Music Video
This is my first Music Video made for the amazing musician Beatrice for her guitar solo.
I used Panasonic GX85, Canon 6D, GoPro and iPhone to shoot the different scenes and used DaVinci for the post-processing.
Will post another video explaining how I made this.

    Hi, your video was informative! I didn’t even know that it was possible for a flash to fry a camera. I bought this same flash, and I’m planning on using this with my Minolta x-700. Do you know if this is ok?? I can’t seem to find any info on the voltage that my camera can handle. Any info you have would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    He's talking boll..cks at times. @5:10 it is voltage, not wattage. And using a Safe-Sync on a cheap old flash like this is nonsense. For the price of one Safe-Sync (~$80) you could buy a bagful of similar flash units (eg Sunpak 422) from Ebay with safe voltages, and even if half of them didn't work you'd still be laughing. Check here for voltages www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html

    How can i use the Vivitar flash with Nikon D3400?

    • @dukenukem5768
      @dukenukem5768 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the high flash unit voltage will damage it.

      I used it a lot with my Nikon D3000 back in the day. Use it normally as you would with a film camera.

    You did not say that the flash unit , come s with a P.C. cord. You did not say.....the blue auto will give you a correct flash exposure, if you stay with in the blue ( line ) color range. The red auto will give you a much greater distance range, and you did not say, that you can pre test flash, to get correct exposure, BEFORE, you shoot. Wait for the orange ready light, to come on, press that button, and watch below if the GREEN light come s on. Why would you use a cheap u.v. ( kenko ) filter in front of a perfectly designed lens? What you really need is a hood.

    Nicely done with the video and good information all-around! I have about 13 old flashes (piled up from different deals), one Vivitar too (model 2600), most at the High Voltage output range. Someone prompted me (in a round-about ways) to get them out and give them a try. Surprisingly, all first 6 flashed nicely while testing internally. Wow, my first flash experience! Rest needs cleaning from battery corrosion coverage. Now it's time to adapt them to modern mirrorless cameras. I assume most of my cheaper cameras will not like the high output, so they need to be tamed. Safe-Sync with Wein (and other options) seems fine, i'll end up getting one atleast. However, for my style of shooting i'll probably mainly go for wireless triggering, with triggers that can withstand High Voltages. It's hard to find the information on these matters (starting from camera manufacturers alone), and lot of it seems outdated. However, as of now it seems the ComTrig / Ojecoco and Phottix wireless triggers can withstand high voltages (among other brands). I'll have to research more and dig deeper, but the ComTrig seems good budget option to begin with atleast. I'm excited! Thanks for the nice video, prompted me to say many things.

      See my comment above (December 2020) about the nonsense of buying a Safe-Sync. Just throw those unsafe flash units away and get a safe used one(s) from Ebay. It is not just mirrorless, it is any electronically based camera from about 1990 (film as well) that would get fried (except Leica I gather).

      @@dukenukem5768 I'm using wireless triggers just to be safe, and they work fine. I'm not so into flash photography (yet), so these are just something to play around. Lot of the older flashes work great and no issues so far. Besides, an old mirrorless camera for 50-100€, who cares? I like to play around and have some fun. When playing with cheap gear, one is not dependent on the "gear", or the "value", or the "investment". Which become fear and stress elements to many. It's just something fun to play around, and few bumps here and there are fine. People come and go, materia come and go, life come and go, it's not that serious. It's good to be aware of these things of course, but after that, good times.

      @@villemononen5303 I like playing with cheap (ie inexpensive) old gear too. I've recently bought no less than 6 old hammerhead flash units for average of $10 each that would each have cost $100-150 when new ($300-500 today?). Some are still like new. All safe voltage though - when I snuff it I don't want the risk of one of my kids putting a high voltage flash on my $3000 DSLR, not knowing any better!
