It's scary what AI can do these days, you really only know in the 'One more look' part. Interesting experiment. The main thing that strikes me is 2002 Tori would have sung this with more of a sense of ease and fluidity, where later Tori sounds a little fraught and brittle trying to reach the very high notes.

Such a beautiful song, and all the lovelier in this version. ❤ It amazes me sometimes how she consistently wraps these huge subjects in such personal contexts - when she sings 'Don't tell me a woman did this to you. Candy lies.' I think she's referring to Eve, confronting in a strong but understanding way the great lie at the very beginning of the Bible, the warped foundation created to justify what is essentially men's psychological fear of women. This dragon of irrational fear needs to be slain if we are ever going to be able to live as God intended. How to kill a dragon: See that a dragon is just a child who doesn't understand there's nothing to fear. Hence the lullaby.

Scarlet's Walk is the album that gets underestimated time and time again. I really wish she could release just acoustic piano versions of all her 2002-2022 catalogue songs. She gets lost in the guitar sometimes. For people who listens for the emotion in her notes, she will give us the best gift ever just re-releasing just piano versions like this.
