    Why do you need to get rid of oxalis?

  • @paulwary
    @paulwary 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think its possible to get rid of it, unless you kill the entire lawn, wait for a year and dig up or poison anything that comes up. Basically it never dies with a single spray of Bin-Die, and because the days when you can spray are quite few (no wind, no rain expected) you always miss the second or third spray. So it always comes back.

    Great vid, didn't know about the bulbs! I've just overseeded with kikuyu seed a week ago but oxalis is sprouting before the seeds germinate... How can I kill off the pcalis without inhibiting new kikuyu germination? Or would I be better off weed-and-feeding the existing patchy kikuyu before oxalis takes over?

    • @LilydaleInstantLawn
      @LilydaleInstantLawn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once your Kikuyu has germinated you could use Oxafert, or hand weed or spray with Bin-die just spot spraying. You do need to be careful with Bin-die as it could knock around your young kikuyu.

    Is the Stihl MM56 Multitool with lawn dethatching rake head any good for a Buffalo lawn?

    • @LilydaleInstantLawn
      @LilydaleInstantLawn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use this for sure, just be careful not to be too rough and cut into your Buffalo too much. With dethatching Buffalo you can't cut down as hard as you would with Kikuyu or Couch, as it could do too much damage to the root system. It could be better just to use a mower cutting down low.

  • @PebblesChan
    @PebblesChan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Easy fix mate. Cut it down to half height and continue to cut that height every 3rd day in summer. This forces your leaves to shoot lower and will repair. If you keep the height up it will never change. Gotta scalp it down and maintain that height. If you leave it for 4 weeks it will raise again but your back to square 1
