Rainbow SRX HEPA Filter
Replacing or checking your HEPA filter on the Rainbow SRX is super easy. Anyone can do it with simple tools. I’ll show you how.
The RHCS19 (aka SRX) is a certified air cleaner with attachments such as the Rainbow Vacuum PN3 Power nozzle for source control.
I purchased this machine second hand, after only a few weeks of use by the original owner, and was fortunate to receive the extended hose upgrade with it. If you're new to Rainbow products . . . prepare yourself. Once you see the results of "Rainbowing" your floors , you'll never want to vacuum again.

Mine completely stoped working
Thank you for the video. If not for vids like this I wouldn't have any clarity in its operation because I sure dont get much from the manufacturer. This has to be the worst vacuum I've ever owned & it was $3,000 dollars. Plus this is a super shady & useless company. They have sinister sales tactics to corner individuals into high pressure sales to friends & family which you must in turn do yourself because of the rebates you almost desperately need to recoup your hefty investment. Then they tell you if their is a problem with it DONT contact them. Take it up with the individual you bought it from. Even the instructions & instructional videos are basically worthless to the point that I'm learning more about my vacuum from third party videos. Even hidden features which makes absolutely no sense to hide features. Wish I hadn't turned over my old vac
It would be cool to see a 4 year update on this machine! My parents bought one and it gets used daily. It’s still going strong a year and a half later
What is the third level for? I can't find that information.
The floor brush is the same as the one on the E2 Black which is similar in design going back to some variants of the Rainbow SE, just wider and doesn't require a curved wand. As I was watching this video today, I thought I would wash the kitchen mats with the AquaMate 3/4 and my E2 Black. I first vacuumed them with my Kirby Heritage II Legend just to really beat them, pre-treated the mats with solution (I use only water in the AquaMate as this is similar to how the professionals do it with their truck-mounts) and did a thorough rinse and agitation with the Mate in multiple directions. The water was like chocolate milk coming out and fairly opaque.
Right, mine is 10 hours in our house. 1: Why is there no mention from the salesman about this hepa filter? That was the big selling feature, no filters. There is a filter and no information in the manual to service it. 2: mine on low sounds like a 1994 Internet modem. Kinda annoying and I don't hear that on your machine. 3: I take it the parts are not green guard certified. Real stink in the house when it's running with water only. Seems like a great machine, but it's over 4k here in Canada and why if the manual lacking all these tips and maintainance instructions. Starting to have doughts about this company. Be upfront
No worth $4,000
thanks for the video. I have an old rainbow that's been rebuilt and I love it. I bought the SRX a couple years ago and I didn't feel it worked as well. I also used the SRX to help an acquaintance and to my surprise the home had dry wall debris all over and it was thick. My Rainbow began to bubble up and over flow. It has not been the same since and seems to bubble up after when using it again at home. So I stopped using it and stuck with my old rebuild. The only rainbow distributer in my city is an angry Russian man who always wants to upgrade my parts and sell me each time I have used him in the past. So my question will replacing the hepa filter possibly solve the bubbling up problem? I am planning to open it up the weekend as I have had it in storage since this incident over a year ago? thanks for advising
Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. I do not believe replacing the HEPA filter will solve the bubbling up problem, HOWEVER I would recommend you open the back of the machine and check the HEPA filter. Most likely it will need to be replaced. Drywall dust is one of the few things that tend to make it past the water filter and enter the machine and HEPA filter. I also highly recommend removing and carefully cleaning the water separator and water basin. Clean the air inlet on the machine (where the hose connects) as well as the gasket where the water basin is sealed against the machine when closed. Finally I recommend putting a small amount of water in the basin then sucking up water through your wand and hose. Using a small water bottle to slowly pour water into the end of the wand while the machine is running will help clean the inside of the wand and hose. You and even take a couple square of paper towel, soak them with water, then suck it through the want and hose to help clean them out. Finish with running small dry hand towels or dry paper towels through to help dry the hose and wand. (Do NOT perform this procedure with the power nozzle or any other powered attachments attached). You can and should also remove the bottom cover of the power nozzle and clean the inside. Remove all hair from the spinning brush and bristles. Check the opening for any obstructions. If you still have an issue with the bubbling over, maybe there is drywall dust/debris inside the motor and other interior parts. Your local rainbow tech can do a disassembly and cleaning of these parts as needed. I hope this helps 😊 Let us know how it goes and what you find. ps. www.rainvac.com seems to be a good source for factory approved replacement parts at a reasonable price. Much less expensive than my local rainbow dealer. 👍🏼
Yes my only guy in Portland wants $300 to clean out inner machine?
Thank you! Run w no light: hold down minus button and turn on
Why can't they just use regular Phillip's screws lol
That would make it easier for the customer to replace on their own and then you don’t need to pay the company to replace it for you. Same with car companies making it impossible to change the headlights without a tool that they created. Money, money and more money.
I sell these. Super helpful! Thanks man
The light for vacuum thing turned off 😢,what should I do?
At 3 min. 49 sec. when red light comes on does the machine turn itself off, too?
kak gimana caranya betulin penyedot tidak bisa
My SRX just suddenly got fairly loud on level one instead of mostly silent like it used to be. They said it is normal enough theres no fix for it. Anyone had this issue?
Hello I’m having troubles vacuuming. When i turn on and press the handle button (blue) to turn onto start vacuuming but then it turns off suddenly. I don’t know what’s the issue, when it suddenly turns on the light turns red from the menu buttons. Help please. I checked all equipments one by one and no issues. I checked the bottom gear if it is spinning or not and cleaned it also just incase, but still it keeps turning off when i start vacuuming. Help me please
Water on the bin to the top of they bin-bubble? Separator attached correctly?
I reset mine and it still cuts off on high Will a dirty heap filter cause this??
Hello, how can I find out which level is the best for certain types of cleaning? Is there a different level for vacuuming verses using the attachments? Thank you
In our home we just use the highest level for all cleaning. In all the time owning rainbow, we’re never experienced any issues cleaning on the highest level. The only time we run the machine on a lower level is when we’re running it as an air purifier and want the machine running quieter. I hope that helps 😊
@@rainbowinsight1017 thank you 😊
I’d like to run the air air machine longer that 90 minutes, how do I do that?
Turn the machine on and don’t set a timer. Just let it run.
Set your phone, and check in. 😉It will dry up then water if on high for too long. That is bad for motor.
Thank you
I am so glad I am not the only one having issues getting this back on
Wife purchased an SRX from the family estate. Practically new. Problem today use if for the first time vacuum ran for a few minutes then shut off. No red lights flashing. Currently no power at all even after unplugging and such. Think it may be the switch?
This was awesome ! Does it work with the most recent model ? Thanks ❤️
Great question! I'm not familiar with the difference between the SRX when it was first released (as shown in this video) and an updated version. Someone needs to test it for us :)
I’ve tried both way states in the comments to get it to start on your desired speed level and neither worked and now the low setting is louder than it used to be lol
oh no! I wonder if this has to do with the update they made to the SRX since it was first released. The model I used in the video was one of the very first released over 3 years ago.
Yes it was very helpful tyvm

And I’m pretty certain if you went back over the same carpet again with the previous model you’d still get more dirt. The srx is actually about 30% less powerful in suction, airflow, and over all electricity used. Please check out all the independent testing videos that prove this. Srx is a nice machine but the E2 black is far superior.
Hi, I think you should buy one. Just to see if you'd like it. I have one and it works nicely. I still think it's better than the E2 black and I still own that one.
@@AxlAX I’ve been tempted to buy one just to compare. But they don’t sell that other powerhead anymore. Just the or that was original to the e2 black. Plus they are still way too expensive just purchase one for comparison sake, let alone knowing it under performs.
Interesting how all the real tests online show that the E2 black has more suction and more airflow than the new SRX. The SRX is also suppose to pull something like 1200 watts of power according to spec sheet. But infact only draws around 800 watts. The SRX power nozzle suffers from several air leaks under the cover and is basically based off the PN2 power nozzle. The SRX nozzle also reverts back to the narrow air path at the brushroll and the belt is center driven. While the serpentine belt is nice it’s a shame the brush roller which should be a nice upgrade is actually a downgrade. It’s beating are highly susceptible to failure and melting the plastic housing. So to fix this problem Rexair actually went back to power nozzle from the E2 black with the spinning side brushes and some new blue accents on the top cover. And then there’s the main machine. It suffers from pcb board fault which cause Severn burn and fires with the unit. So there was a recall. All in all the new SRX is vastly inferior to its predecessor. Rainbow should have spent the money making a true performer instead of focusing on a cool cosmetic redesign. You can find all the test videos on TH-cam showing just how bad of a machine this new model really is. Shame on Rexair.
Some people like them so I can't hold that against them. That being said my favourite models are the E2 black and D4 series of machines. Then again, those are what I have as I have yet to find a good older E2 silver or gold that's complete and I don't really want any of the older models before the D4. Of my machines, the E2 Black is easier to service and doesn't require the removal of a number of screws like the D4 series does. The disadvantage is the snap together design as I can see when the plastic gets brittle those snaps weakening with time but having screws and plastic posts (even with inserts) will do the same, thus some enthusiasts like Performance Reviews don't have a good reason to support Sebo or Miele in that case.
Where can I buy the filter?
RainVac.com sells just about everything. www.rainvac.com/rainbow-vacuum-parts/srx/main-housing/hepa-filter-srx
My LED lights are not lit any ideas
Thank you!!! Exactly what I needed to get it working!
This was very very helpful thank you!!
You're welcome! I'm glad it could help! I've seen a couple other insights here in the comments. Take a look :)
I just purchased my new rainbow and I really like it so far. It is pricey so I'm hoping it is going to be worth the money. Like your video.
I do have to say they need to make an instruction book on how to use everything instead of having to go to you tube for directions all the time.
its 100 % worth the money.. Ive owned homes and cars and dont have them anymore but i still have my rainbows
@@paulawages9685 Totally Agree. This is exactly why I made a few videos for youtube. Hopefully they help a few people :)
@@itake2music2 Haha that's so true! Rainbows follow you wherever you go and last the test of time :)
THANK YOU! I felt like there wasn't enough instruction on the machine/ air cleaning system when we received a demo, so I thought I'd make a few videos of my own :)
My SRX uses a T15 - not sure why I couldn’t get T20 to work so if anyone is having difficulties, try the T15. - my rainbow dealer claimed there was no need for a filter and said technically there is a HEPA filter but it was only there because air purifiers have to have one but said it didn’t do anything - I’ve only had my rainbow going on 4 months and I could see light dusting//discoloration so I know it’s being used.
Thanks, very enlightening
I just got one myself and it awesome!!!
Congratulations Marco! Its such an amazing machine if you keep up on the dust dirt and debris in your home. We've loved our Rainbow SRX every day for over 2 years now :)
As an olde Rainbow salesman I have seen the SRX demos here. However I have to ask, is there a squeegee attachment for this model? I have wood floors and my D-4 has the squeegee and I love it for a excellent floor cleaning tool. I just purchased a SRX from a friend and would like to have that attachment
So loud
in vain he poured dirty water into the toilet
😂
Can we see a rainbow representative a demonstration on all the uses of the tools?
Wow !!!! Great video 👏👏👏
hi do you sell that srx power hose, that shorter one? or you can recomend me a store where i can buy that power hose. thank you
That is awesome
I just got my rainbow and used it today and it smelled like something was burning and I’m not sure what it was
When the machine is brand new, it may need to burn off a lubricant used in assembly or manufacturing. Maybe it was this? Or if your power head assembly, used on carpet, has a buildup of hair, fabric or fiber underneath, the friction from spinning may cause it to burn.
Is it an SRX? Mine smelled like burning for the first few months and it went away and never came back. If it’s the power nozzle, sometimes the belt gets stuck from fur clogging it.
@@Cleaning_Hero yes it’s the srx
And it wasn’t the power nozzle so that’s probably what it was
No judgment, please LOL but I have actually on my rainbow E2 black model managed to carve the HEPA filter cartridge out of there but still have the outer plastic cartridge (to direct airflow) and the cleaning performance increased tremendously! As long as the user isn’t picking up massive amounts of cat litter dust or drywall dust, it’s still filters the air extremely well, with no loss of airflow whatsoever. Just bought the T-20 bit and I’m going to take the HEPA filter off my SRX model to see if the cleaning performance increases on that one as well. I noticed that the intake where the hose connects to the machine on the SRX model is much smaller than on the E2 black because as soon as I hook up the hose to the front of the machine, the SRX immediately increases in pitch because of concentrated airflow. Hoping this helps to keep the motor cooler as well when using the SRX for extended periods of time with the hose attached. I love my SRX model, however I usually use the powerhead for the SRX With the E2 black main unit because it has massive amounts more pick up power. 😎
Very interesting! I guess it makes sense . . . Less air restriction = greater air flow and pickup. Let us know how it goes with the SRX after the HEPA is removed 👍🏼
@@rainbowinsight1017 Didn’t go as planned. 🤣 Yes, smaller intake definitely is the reason for less pick up power. Also, the SRX on its highest speed without the filter is EAR PIERCING loud. 😳 I’ll just be using that one with the HEPA in. Lol
Hehe. Watching this again in 2022. Just a heads up, it sounds like your E2 Black may need a new bearing. The slow down of the motor sounds a bit rough… possible a clean and service too. LOVE your videos! 😎
Thanks Colter. I appreciate the support 💪🏽
Thank you! So helpful!
You’re welcome ☺️
