"Have Mercy" Live at The Palace, Hollywood with Richard Marx, 1987

"Have Mercy" - I remember this song well, having introduced the "Layla" ending on live shows - and it stuck. A great band with Richard on vocals, Paul Warren (guitar, vocal), Jim Cliff (bass), Mike Derosier (drums), Dave Koz (sax and keys) and myself, Jon Walmsley, on guitar.

06/05/16 Jon Walmsley and Jimmy "Duck" Holmes @ The Blue Front Cafe, Bentonia, MS

06/05/16 - I’m sitting in with Jimmy “Duck” Holmes at the “Blue Front Café” in Bentonia, MS. Jimmy is the stylistic descendent of Skip James who was also from Bentonia. The traditional “Bentonia tuning” is E, B, E, G, B, E (open Em) but these guys tune to their voice so Jimmy was actually playing in C. I wish the sound were better. He’s so incredibly authentic and complete in what he does that ...

At Britweek with Denny Laine: Re-creating one of my favorite solos, George Harrison's "Something", on my first "good" guitar, the Gibson 345 my parents bought me when I was 9.
WOWWWWW you are so talented! Loved you on The Walton's too!!
MOUNT PIRAHNA SAWMILL POND OR BUST Have a happy new year, Jon. Go to bed when you get darn good and ready.
Oh my one of my favorites and you nailed it ❤❤❤
I love you youngman. You and your fellow actors on the Waltons have brought so much joy to many.
jon is great actor and a superb musician ....
The Waltons is a fond memory though now I find it a bit goody two shoes
I'm in an absolutely rainy Western Michigan today. Thanks for sharing your version!!
Please, dew drop inn!
I still watch the Walton's! It's a very wholesome show that I find very enjoyable; I wish times today could be more like those days! Jon's music is awesome!!
Dang - sounds great!!! :)
Yay !! Go Jon !! You r so talented and have energy !! 😊♥️🎵🎸
Hey Jon, I have this VHS video in my own personal collection. I used to watch it over and over back in the day. I almost wore the tape out. I loved Richard's first three albums, especially the first one which this track comes from. Love your dueting with Paul Warren. I also love the 'Layla' bit at the end, nice touch. After seeing you in this great band I often wondered why you didn't end up as a fully fledged session player.
Just found this, awesome, great musician. Still watch The Waltons, best family show ever. ❤
I am just now watching The Walton’s for the first time and am on Season 5. I love the show and I love your character. So then I started thinking, what is Jon Walmsley up to now? I searched you on TH-cam and here you are still doing what you love, playing music. Way to go, man! Good to see you and hear you play.
Watching you play on TV got me interested in the guitar while I was a kid and it has really been a life long joy to play and learn new pieces. Thanks Jon! If you ever read these things.....
Great picking Jon! But then you always were an excellent guitarist. Thank you for hisgem.
I meant this gem, lol!
This made my day! Thanks for bringing us all some happiness Jon.
Love that sound!
Beautiful rendition!
You and The MonaLisa Twins are the only 2 whom can cover a Beatles tune that equals and/or betters the original ....🤘🏻👍🏻👌😎🎼🎵🎶🔊
Lovely!🙂
I just subscribed. I recognize Blackbird from the movie "I Am Sam" It's one of my favorite movies

Absolutely love this. And hello from the UK!
Hello from So. Cal. Lovely! ❤
Ooh my goodness. I had no idea. LOVE it!!! Thanks for sharing!
A massive HELLO from Ireland ❤️
The Waltons is one of my favorite shows from the 70’s and I knew that you really were a musician on the show and not just acting as one. But between Richard Marx live videos from the late 80’s, this, and other assorted videos, wow. Just wow! I had NO idea you were this good, definitely one of the most underrated guitarists ever. It’s a wonder the guitar doesn’t start smoking from those blues that are rock and roll’s first cousin.
This is great! Lots of talent in this performance. Jon you looked so happy and right where you belonged at that moment in time. Thanks for the share.
Wow🤍💗💗💗💗💗💗
Nice @Jon nice mullet 🙌🙌🙌❤️
Y'all obviously had so much fun on that tour, the stage presence shows it.
I was thinking the same exact thing!
A Rock'n performance ❤. I was born a year to late to see it live. Would of loved to have been there
Killer playing, nice! And does anyone else think Paul Warren looks a little like Ben? If I'm not mistaken, Paul (Ben) is rocking a pretty sweet Guild Bluesbird.
woooooooh hoooooooooooo...that's what I'm talkin "bout!!!!
Jon that must have been great fun! 👏🏻♥️
Well done, sir! Bravo!
Jon's version and the one by The MonaLisa Twins rock my world 💜👍🏻👏🤘🏻😎🇬🇧🎼🎵🎶🔊🤩
Love that song! That was beautiful, Jon!
