Arthur Erickson's Dyde House - Trailer
Long before Arthur Erickson built many of Canada’s most iconic buildings, he was a young architect for a family looking to build a home in the Alberta prairies. Deeply private, the Dyde family gave him space to explore his bold vision for a Canadian architectural style, with one caveat - the home was a secret, not to be published or promoted.
In 2016, a group of architects discovered the old home nestled away in 50 acres of pristine jack pine and wetlands; a hidden treasure in dire need of repair but rich in the architectural language that defined a career.

Çok iyiydi ağzınıza sağlık 🙏🏻
What a gorgeous place. I’d love to visit some day.
What a joy it is to meet someone who understands Mr Wright ❤
Back when you could build anything you wanted, anywhere you wanted.
This is my all time favourite house on the planet. It has been for many years. If I ever had the opportunity to build my own house it would be some version of this house. Often imitated, never equaled jmho ❤️❤️❤️👌👌👌😍😊
Could you please post the full interview.
1:14 When architects of the '50s were picturing their post-war vision, THIS was what they had in mind. Absolutely beautiful.
This building is a 'device' and also a temple 'hidden in plain sight'. Although there is no direct written proof, this building may have acted as an initiation temple in to a secret society that practiced Alchamey and venerated Hermes Trismagistus. Tresham and John Dee moved in the same circles of E1 Court - but - there is no known written evidence that they were aquainted - however - Dee was aquaited with the Marshioness of Northampton The building that remains is a shadow of its former self - its interior most likley would have housed richly pained ceilings depicting alchemical and zodiac symbols along with rich ornate tapesteries depictig the same also it would have housed alchemical aparatus and scrying tools and alters.
The best architect actually!
Harry Seidler is the most overrated flop who shouldn’t have touched architecture at all.
that looks exactly like a tower in the game "dark souls"
There is a very subtle thread that connects the technique nice lines ..❤
A very good architect!
Großartige Architektur mit viel Fläche und wohlproportionierten Räumen. Sehr ästhetisch in der Formgebung mit Glas , Beton und Stein.
Wow so cool ❤
Sounds like a Christian empire ...ancient tartarian building...
Misleading, undemonstrated subject line, while the video itself appears to be a trailer for an unreleased, copyrighted film. Is it your film or has your site somehow been hijacked?
Read the frickin description
@@silaee I did; and it's pretty well balanced and not nearly as sensational as the tag line. But just because the residents and builders of Arcosanti, and people who have investigated Soleri's thoughts and concepts know more about his actual intentions than the poster doesn't make them "near-cult-like". As a former resident it gets old seeing the same misleading projections repeated again and again about something that can't be wrapped up in a nice little snack for a lazy driveby. But here we are.
What a fantastic video ❤
😢Aw! That's sad! They look so cool and I bet they're cozy in winter. I mean, yeah--it's going to be dirty and if it's old, then probably even more so.
such raw beauty..
Amazing ❤
Another human ego trip dominating the landscape.
Seriously. It’s a reminder that eventually the already beautiful planet will have human trash on every square inch of it. It’s nobody’s fault in particular. We just keep reproducing, and need to live somewhere, and well, we’re programmed to do those things. Death spiral for the planet.
Yeah right, as if governments allow houses to be built anywhere ? Get real ! And these are all blots on the landscape. Why not blend in with nature ?
I love him
The American accent is priceless. 🤣🌵🏜
💯 Promo-SM
Truly one of the videos ever made.
he was pretty good and i love the seagram, but i don't think we should roast every other architect
I thought this felt old so I looked it up and this was filmed prob in 2013. The director, who was not credited here, is Francesca Molteni.
who can inspire the less inspired and massive of italian architects
Inspirated by Glenn and Richard both australian architects
But "tiny spaces" are no longer affordable. It's a joke now.
Excellent.
MOVING FORWARD THE ENGINEER's AND ARCHITECTS ARE REPLACING THE MAYOR OFFICE BUILD INSPECTOR's AS COMPANY''s HIRE THEM BUILDING WHY PAY FEE's FOR SUIT'a CRIME's MAYOR OFFICE''s YOU HIRE THE COMPANY's ON YOU MONEY ! WHY SHOULD THE PUBLIC PAY FOR MAYOR OFFICE BUILDING FEE's AS HIRE THE ENGINEERS AND ARCHITECT's THEY HAVE WHAT YOU NEED''s ARE ! STOPPING BUILDING INSPECTOR''s ON TAXES !
They look so bland, Le Corbuiser really was the father of miserable architecture
I think it looks good.Very modern.Different people different perspectives
It seems like an advanced brutalist infrastructure to me.
Looks awesome to me
I usually hate modern architecture, but this is absolutely beautiful.❤
Isn't the building haunted ?
there are reports of a tunnel linking the lodge to Rushton Hall, there is a story that the tunnell wasnt used for years - so a small boy was sent in to the tunnel to see how far it went - apparantly with a violing - somewhere along the journey the tunnel collapsed in on him and his body was never retrieved - stories remain of sounds of feint violing being played from the tunnel entrance !
It’s terrible
Thanks , great ispiration for me .
Glad to hear that!
Here some advice to friendly Icelanders. Don't allow your country to be overrun by immigration! Oh yeah, other counties are sorry now including mine!
How sad
Today, people are building like this to not rely on the energy companies.
Spot, on! 🦋🌿This type of buildings, were a lot more energy efficient than modern housing is
They live there for quitely
I'd love to build or live in one!☺️💜✌️
Northern rivers and Palm Springs have something in common? That’s a stretch.
Perfect for Blade Runner or Aliens
True! It made me think of Kubrick :)
@@ShelterStream yes!! Clock Work Orange or Space Odessey!! Marvellous architecture
Retro futurism! I'm quite sad it didn't work out as much in Britain, but Japan has a lot of good examples still remaining today through it's metabolist movement. I love this building so much.
Landscape would bore me to dearly.
To death.
