2018 Intake manifold with lockout install 15-17 gt
Im having p2006 and p2007 codes. Where do I need to start?
Im a 2017 gt
What tuner did you use
You can go with any tuner you want. I would suggest Lund Racing. VMP, PBD Tuning, and few others that are good as well.
how did you turn off the check engine light and a P2005 and P2007 stuck IMRC code??
You will want to check with whoever is tuning your car. Some may want them left on and some may not. Check with them on that
Good video, but torque specs would be helpful.
Very thorough I appreciated the video
Do you need a tune ?
Yes you will need a tune on 11-17 cars
Just installed My 18 manifold exactly the same I think everything is plugged in right but on first start up and drive it did normal for about 20 min then it shut off on me continues to shut off or bog down Possibly tune? Waiting to hear back from Vmp to get datalogging done
I would data log and send it to your tuner as had no issues after install. Also go back through and recheck everything as well
Vmp said tune looked good but it’s a common issue if you do not have a heat shield. I’m my case the high speed fans would come one and create MAF wash and mess with the sensor so the car would hesitate and shut off Installed heat shield vmp looked over and no more problem
I know this is bad a lock out valve on a car to keep it coming back into the shop service department or dealership
Do you need an adapter for a charge pipe or cold intake, because 18's mani TB sits higher.
I didn’t for 15-17 cars. I do not believe so on the 11-14 cars as well
Did you plug that hole from the vac line that you took off at 9:44
Yes I capped it but you can use it as vacuum source if needed.
Yes I capped it but you can use it as vacuum source if needed.
Great video. Did you plug up the the open vacuum spots on the rear of the manifold?
I capped off the one on the back and one coming straight out of the front of the manifold. Not to be mixed up with the ones close to where the throttle body mounts.
Did anyone get oil pressure sensor light on?
I did not have that issue with the ones I’ve installed. Make sure you didn’t mash any wires under the intake when installing the 18 manifold.
Did you get rid of the sound tube ?
Yes I did the cold air came with a plug for it.
if I put an 18 manifold locked out on my 17 will I need a re tune
Yes
unless your going with turbos or super charger do not do this to your manifold
What size front and rear tires do you have
Sorry for the late reply I had JMS 17x10.5 wheels on a bias ply with stock wheel upfront when going to the track/Mexico. Normally had the 50th anniversary wheels on for around town
Did anyone having issues throwing a evap error code. Mine comes on from time to time but I can't find anything wrong.
Yes me too p2019
Did you do the lockouts because the plug n plays were throwing codes?
Is there a reason for the lockouts instead of using the hoses still?
Yea, lockouts are good for a couple things. They make the vacuum routing more simple. Also you don’t need them when you’re boosted because the car creates it’s own positive pressure, and they can break with boost behind them. But for n/a sure you lose a little bit down low but it’s before 4500 rpm not going to matter when you’re revving up to 7500+ rpm.
I'm gonna be installing mine in a week, my only concern is keeping track of all the hoses and their new locations. Are they labeled?
Do the lockouts negatively affect drivability or MPGs?
i’ve heard the car shakes when slowing down in 1st and 2nd gear and makes a diff exhaust noise
Taking you awhile! Looks good!
I need more videos.
Can I do this on the 15-17 intake manifold too? Or just strictly on the 2018 manifold?
I was wondering the same thing. Did you ever figure out if you could
Devin Melton yes you can.
Devin Melton it’s the same exact process
Hey man, which lockouts did you buy?
5ohJesus sorry for the late reply but I bought MMR lockouts but I’ve also bought the cheap eBay ones for my latest build and they work just fine as well!
so the left one goes left and the right side goes pointing too the right ?
So what's the horsepower & torque increase by doing this?
Alex Ayala sorry for the late reply! You can reference VMP battle of the intakes for the best hp and tq numbers. 18 keeps the flow smooth through the power curve.
Whats the benefits of locking out tje imrc's?...could of sworn the video that vmp did with the intake shootout he said not to delete them....?
Brian It can help with drivability/gas mileage if you don’t lock them out but depending on who’s tuning your car they may or may not have the ability to tune them with the harness you buy to keep them. I locked mine out because my tuner at the time preferred that and I had no drivability issues at all.
@@redbeardracing9255 ohhh ok I hear ya...was curious.because I bought a ported 2018 manifold and didn't know which way to go as far as t locking them out and tuner vs keeping them
Brian Sheppard just check with your tuner and how they prefer your setup to be.
@@redbeardracing9255 thanks man will do for sure
Just want to say thanks. Because I referenced this video several times during my install. Mainly for the vaccum.
Thats exactly what I'm gonna be doing
Same here, i was doing a boss install and had no clue what to do with the brake vaccum line
did u receive any p1289 codes CHT SENSOR or any overtemperature active codes p1299
I did not receive any temp sensor codes or overheating codes. I would suggest going back through and making sure you didn’t unplug or pinch those wires when removing or installing the 18 intake. May datalog it and see if your tuner can help you out as well.
Did you ever figure it out? Mine threw the same code and idk what to do
@@ShowtimeRFC same did you figure yours out!? Was it the tune or something we have to go back too?
@@carlosandresh__ yeah I actually downloaded the wrong tune. There were 2 tunes on my device and I had downloaded the wrong one
@@carlosandresh__ oh wait maybe that was a different time. I added antifreeze and it went away lol
Did you delete the Imrc because of the p2007 code? Imrc opens once’s and cars feels awesome. After it feels like it hits a wall
I went ahead and deleted them due to my tuner saying it would be easier for him to tune. From talking with people that kept them they said it’s sluggish when they close. That is another reason I went with the lockouts.
My 16gt is stock, I'm getting p0300 code, from my extensive research it leads me to my intake runner not open, so do I need a tune I lockout the runners in the back with zip ties, thank you.
With putting on 18+ intake you should get a tune to maximize the intake. If you already have a handled just need t revised tune form your tuner. The zip ties may not be holding them all the way open on. May want to look into lockouts that bolt in to hold them open.
@@redbeardracing9255I want to stay with the stock intake for now, so that would require a tune also right?
GSHeverything _27 yes you’ll need a tune to correct the runners staying open.
I’m having the exact same problem I did spark plugs and coils now I just have a p0302 I’m thinking it’s also the intake but I just find it wierd it’s just one cyl not multiple cyls any recommendations?
So all the cables in the back of the manifold simply get ziptied away? Nothing gets plugged back in with running the lockouts?
That is correct! If you are running lockouts then you zip tie them back so they don’t get pinched. If you have the harness to plug in and run the 18 IMRCs then they would plug into those and into the back of the 18 intake.
Great job I watch vmp install and was confused as hell watch this and was done in 10 minutes nice job man
Did you notice any 2k Rattle noise after installing the 2018 manifold?
Sorry for the late reply but I did not experience that at all I would def go back in and check bolts. Also look to see if there is anything rubbing anywhere that could be cause that issue. The 18 manifold does increase the upward angle of the Cold Air Intake some over the older ones.
Where did you get the caps for all the vacuum nipples and lines?
skaterking225 I picked them up at a local auto parts shop. I picked up a mixed package.
I picked them up at a local auto parts store. Just picked up a mixed package.
The last tube you pulled the hose off since it’s open to the mani would it need to be cap off or did you just leave it Staright open
Slow Trucks I went ahead and capped it. It doesn’t hurt to put a cap on it
How does your jlt intake fit with your mani?
Cesar It fit perfect and had no clearance issues with the hood.
Best straight forward video in regards to the 18 manifold , thanks bud .
Awesome video for sure! As always its hard to read through we some have posted regarding adding the lock out especially with driveablity. How did you like the different of driveablity when you did the lock outs? Was there a lot of revisions on tuning doing them?
sorry for the late reply but tuning the car with a local tuner he had to make a few revisions but overall drivability was not bad at all. I think if you kept the IMRCs and went with lund, vmp or a bigger tuner company that has the capability to tune with the IMRCs then I would go that route. but either way you go I don't think the drivability was much different.
I just want to make sure I understand. With the lockouts installed, the pigtail is not used? And also you used the stock injectors? Thanks for the detailed install.
sorry for the late reply but you are correct if you are using the lockouts you don't use the pigtails. I went ahead and put in Fuel clinic 1000cc injectors in. to go e85.
Great video! I just ordered my 2018 manifold and I wanted to keep as much of the factory electrical components as possible to avoid issues. Is there a reason why you removed the pigtails and went with the lockouts?
Luis Rodriguez my tuner didn’t have the software available to tune with the IMRC’s, that’s the only reason why. Lund and VMP have the software available and VMP sells the pigtails. I also have a VMP harness that I am wanting to sell if you’re interested.
Andrew Vincent Thanks for replying back so soon. I already ordered the manifold and pigtails from VMP with the E85 turn. I just wasn’t sure which option was more reliable. Thanks again for your feedback.
and then..........we’ll go from there
Nice did u have any trouble with idle or anything running with the lockouts
Javi you will want to have a tune ready for the car when you do the install. Most of the bigger tuners like Lund or VMP will have the tune dialed in with maybe miner adjustments.
@@redbeardracing9255 perfect thank you
