I want to like arena but having no rewards for it, plus being able to lose your crafted sets from crashing/bugs stopped me from playing it. (also there's no gear based matchmaking so if you go in with no gear you can verse people with full crafted sets) I prefer rushing pvp in solo gc for practice, if you do it in under 25s you have to really work for the kills cause ranger does so little damage without gear, so you'll have to kite/tether people really well, great for practice. :D (plus with gc you have the full experience of dealing with doors)

Some thoughts I have about crossbows vs bows :D since you can preload crossbows and fire them whenever you want, walking with your crossbow out is the same as walking around with your recurve/longbow drawn at all times but without the massive ms penalty. Crossbows also have higher projectile speed and higher range before damage drop off than bows. recurve bows triple shot is a bit more burst damage than windlass into crossbow (vs low pdr) and its faster than shooting both crossbows. I'm 90% sure crossbows have more dps than bows too (without active skills) because of the 50%action speed perk compared to 15% one for bows, but the wiki doesn't have bow and crossbow draw/load times so i'm going off feeling. the bow skills are way better than crossbow ones though, so if you aren't running backstep and can run double damage skills i'd probably go quickfire triple shot or quickfire multishot instead of crossbows (but i think backstep is the best ranger skill in solos so i guess this only applies to duo/trio). Crossbows also don't need +true damage since their high base damage and armor pen makes stacking %phys damage and armor pen competitive with true dmg , so they should be cheaper than bow builds. (although don't get me wrong true dmg is so op you can build it on crossbows and its still good). MASSIVE advantage of crossbows and why i initially started using them is they counter people camping doors closing them on you over and over, normally with a bow you would open the door and draw your bow, but by the time you can fire they have already shut the door. because you preload crossbows you can open it and instantly shoot them before they close it rinse and repeat until that 65%pdr 200hp cleric/fighter is dead or runs. So i think crossbows are better in most situations except versing another ranger who has recurve triple shot and you have no cover to hide behind, if he is geared and hits all torso shots he will kill you before you can windlass + cbow him, which is actually a bigger problem then it seems because recently after druid nerfs the only class i die to now is other mega geared rangers.

yeah, backsteps way to good at keeping you safe, you can play a lot more aggressive with your bow because of it

I think they expected me to die to the rockfall too lol, recent update added the shadows of where the rocks fall so you can avoid them purposefully now not sure if the dmg ramps up

yeah its whack, there's also aussies pre teaming and instead of just farming the bosses and leaving like the cn they actively hunt everyone in the lobby down lmao

i've played a few games with it and it still feels good, i was still able to 1 shot peeps. potentially shotgun build got better because rogue silence only lasts 2 seconds now so maybe you can shotgun them and tank for 2 seconds until you can backstep out

so i've played a bit more with it... it's so bad im not sure if its even worth running

Backsteps soooo fun, only problem with this build is getting landmined by cutthroat rogues, but a lot of classes would die to that anyway

No it's still just a utility item. It's not so much a No Trap "build" but just a ranger not using traps.

it's a great build that gives you a solid shot of beating any class, if i could give some tips for some matchups. if you are fighting barbs and you don't know both their abilities make sure to save both backstep charges for when they land achilies strike on you so you can backstep away while slowed. and if you fight rogues DO NOT shotgun them until you know if they are running cutthroat or not, they will silence you out of shotgun even if its about to shoot and kill you, same thing for druids, if they have laced turn shoes/loose trousers then you cant go in for shotgun unless they've used panther dash, or they will silence oneshot you and you cant backstep out. gl with the build :D

its a hard skill to land especially if they react fast enough and run away from it, im sure i could backstep 180 mid shooting animation, but i need to practice that more xd

i kind of agree with you, i wouldn't be opposed to see some sort of chase mechanic added so kiting like this is a lot harder to do.

yeah, I keep seeing people saying rangers the weakest class, but the only thing that kills me consistently is hide cutthroat rogue...

@@RodentRatRunand with backstep i can sometimes get away from an ambush, it’s definitely the worst matchup though warlock phantomize isn’t bad either, if they stay back you win, if they get too close you backstep spear

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X cpu and Radeon Rx 6600XT gpu 16gb of ram, and i play on 120hz, the videos exported to 60fps tho so if it looks better than what you play you must have hella low fps. If you're playing on steam you can enable steam overlay and fps counter to see your fps ingame. tbh i lag sometimes too even without recording, i don't think the games very optimised + the new ruins map peaks my gpu like crazy

I used different sets in the clips but they are all roughly the same, ill show one of my kits at the end next time :D

So from what I can see from the dark and darker wiki page on stats is that strength gives you physical power 1:1 and up until physical power bonus 15 each point is worth 2% or more, I don't have 15 strength but I have physical power on my gear bringing my physical power bonus above 15. so i'd already hit the 15 strength (phys power) minimum that people recommend going for :D
