HUMANS RIGHTS FEST 2024
30 YEARS OF DEMOCRACY THROUGH ACTIVISM, ART AND DIALOGUE. HONORING THE SACRIFICES MADE FOR FREEDOM AND IGNITING A COMMITMENT TO EQUALITY, DIGNITY, AND JUSTICE.
The 6th edition of the Constitution Hill Human Rights Festival aligns with the 30th anniversary of South Africa’s Democracy, paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for freedom, especially during the Sharpeville Massacre on March 21, 1960.
At the heart of the Human Rights Festival lies the critical intersection of creative cultural expression and the bold storytelling of artists, filmmakers, and musicians. This synergy is the essence of engaging and inspiring audiences on human rights issues through art, film, music, and conversation. The festival’s impact extends to the partnerships and relationships it nurtures.
The event promises a compelling program that highlights activism, dialogue, art, culture, exhibitions, books, poetry, film, a children’s corner, and live music. This milestone serves as an occasion to rekindle the principles of our constitution, emphasizing a commitment to equality, dignity, freedom, and justice for all. By bringing the public and social justice organizations together, the festival aims to showcase the enduring power and relevance of human rights.

I am so humbled to have been part of this journey reminiscent of a Giant Musician... I am humbled because amid the current anti-African sentiment in South Africa (which I understand for some of the woes some people do undermining the principles that govern a country). Indeed, I am humbled because he ALONE would have told us his story, his experience living in the DR Congo then Zaire. He was like many granted CITIZENSHIP... Was he alone, no Malume Hugh was there, in Mobutu's Zaire (hate him, love him, despise him) shared that experience with Mama Africa - Myriam Makeba before she heading to Guinea of Sekou Toure. Africa is one let's send people to bring peace onto our continent...Mama Africa is suffering of neo-liberalism/capitalism and abject imperialism that have engulfed African leaders that fail to ascribe to Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe's "True leadership requires self subjugation of oneself" Jean Bwasa - a true son of Africa who overcome all the odds.

So why is there still APARTHEID there... If you are white, you cant get a job, white farmers are being killed for no reason, white women are being raped in front of their families.. So tell me what does the new constitution say.. and WHO is actually abiding by it? It has just change Apartheid's colour! And i am NOT a racists.
