Plumbing the Depths of Peace and Connection: Buddhist Dharma Talk with Pat Coffey
The Buddha may have been the greatest Psychologist of all time. In modern parlance, the G.O.A.T. He understood the workings and trappings of the mind. He understood how you suffer and developed a comprehensive path to alleviate it, or at the very least lessen it. He repeatedly said, “I teach one thing and one thing only, suffering and the end of suffering.”
The practices and perspective that he encouraged his students to try out do exactly that.
And that is only the beginning! The deepest ‘wellness’ goes far beyond the basic coping with life’s challenges and is available to everyone.
In this talk, we explore how your mindfulness practice not only supports you with the difficulties you encounter, but that it is the ‘stepping off platform’ to the most profound experience of deep peace and a loving connection to all of creation.
Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville (IMCC) is dedicated to the practice of mindfulness awareness, also known as Insight or Vipassana Meditation. IMCC provides a full program of weekly meditation, ongoing classes, daylong programs, and retreats.

In our meditation practice, we’re taught to notice the thoughts as they arise, and notice them as they pass. We’re taught to let them go. We practice letting them go without grasping onto them or following the thought stream. By training the mind in this way, the mind becomes a tool for our use, rather than the wild, unruly director of our moods and experiences. In this talk, we’ll explore the ...

The Balance of Power and Love: Practicing Wise Speech During Polarized Times with Matt Fritts

The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. posited in his famous 1967 address that "one of the great problems of history is that the concepts of love and power have usually been contrasted as opposites, polar opposites, so that love is identified with a resignation of power, and power with a denial of love." In today's polarized and perilous sociopolitical environment, we may feel limited and eve...

I’ve been practicing for over 20 years and your talk today is one of the very best! Along the way, I’ve tried to explain Buddhism to others……now I’m excited to share this talk with them. You have made “finding peace within ourselves” easy to understand. You made it so personal and CLEAR. I just want to let you know how great this talk was today!

these glimpses bring so much insight to what I believe to be our true nature ...how did we move so far away from ourselves and all things good...I believe their is no happiness that surpasses peace of mind...it can only be found in LOVE...giving love and receiving love
