Teaching Modern DOE (March 18th, 2021)
Teaching Modern DOE
Recruiting new hires already skilled in methods like design of experiments (DOE) is of the biggest challenges facing the chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries today. While structured approaches to data collection is - for many scientists and engineers - becoming increasingly vital, most institutions of higher education fail to teach the real-world skills their industry partners value most.
That knowledge gap has created a burden on job seekers who, despite having invested years in advanced study, must devote more time on the job to acquiring skills like DOE. Likewise it has also created a burden on companies hiring new graduates who require extensive training up-front. At JMP, our aim is to create a mutually beneficial bridge between academia and industry in the area of industrial statistics.
In this webinar, we will share free resources and demonstrate best practices in JMP that make teaching the computer-based design and analysis of experiments most effective. Learn how to better enable future engineers and scientists to better understand a system or process, to solve problems faster and to drive innovation.
Tune in to learn how to:
* Teach DOE concepts using an industry-leading toolset.
* Get access to free and engaging resources for teaching and learning industrial statistics.
* Explore our special offer for doctoral training in CDTs and similar programs.

Hallo every one This is my channel TH-cam about a chemical engennering simulation I hope you share and subscribe th-cam.com/channels/9DjBRxQCgbNESLkaf7r26w.html
Dear Dr Kraft. Greetings from Germany. When I calculate DOE in JMP I am often facing the Problem that I get (for example for a factor) a value with a lot of digits after the comma. How can I avoid that? I can not adjust these values in that accuracy in my test. When I did the design can I overwrite the values with the next possibles? (This happens when I do RSM Designs, were JMP calculates intermediate steps) Thanks for the answers.
Hi, you can change the displayed format and digits in the column settings (double-click the column header). Or you can change the values by removing digits or rounding values. In case you are concerned about how these changes effect your design, you can compare the design diagnostics between the new and your original design.
Volker Kraft Hi thanks, for the answer! Do you also have a recommendation for a similar problem: When we do a DOE we have to manufacture special parts for testing (we are in fine Mechanics Maschine building) for each test setting we need about 100 pcs. So we try to hit the calculated values in the DOE (mean value of the test sample) but that is not guaranteed because of the normal manufacturing deviation. So I would measure parts of every Plot (Split Plot Design / 4 hard to change factors) and replace the measured mean value with the calculated values in the DOE. Is that a good way for getting the desired output (the Modell) or do you recommend a different approach? Thanks again.
TheWechris If it is hard or even impossible to find samples with the right spec required by your design, you can consider covariate factors in Custom Design. JMP can also select the best subset if you have samples to choose from. More at JMP.com/help or email volker.kraft@JMP.com .
Volker Kraft thanks again. Seems I need more training in this matters with JMP. Now I have some more Ideas which could be done to solve the problem. Have a good day and stay save! 👍
thank you for uploading the webinar i
Hi. Where to get the equation upon which your model runs or optimizes values?
On the top red triangle (context-menu) in Fit Model you find "Show Prediction Expression". However, most users directly look at the Profiler to understand how the model works and to find the best settings.
Thank you very much for this initiative. I really needed this explanation.
hi .I have results (surface responses) obtained by JMP. I worked about the extraction of polyphenols with antibacterial activity of pistacia lentiscus. I did not understand how to discuss my results.please can you help me???
very good. helped me so much. in "design generation", 9:06 min, what means "group runs into ramdom blocks of size"?
Thank you for this opportunity
