MAUD THE MOTH - Siphonophores (The Distaff, 2025) / Video by @suckerspeedfilms
Siphonophores is the first single for Maud the moth's new album The Distaff. Listen to it on all platforms on the 12th of November 2024.
The Distaff is out on the 21st of February 2025 via The Larvarium (Digital + CD), La Rubia Producciones (Vinyl) and Woodford Halse/Fenny Compton (Cassette tape).

Elena Brea is a filmmaker, visual artist and professional diver. Since 2022 she’s been working on expanding her practice towards underwater filming. With a special interest in macro videography, she aims to capture subjects in a more abstract and experimental method.
She studied both Graphic Design and Filmmaking, and set root in London for 11 years where she worked professionally as a Director, Camera Operator and Editor in documentary, live events and music; gaining high pressure experience in the field and technical skills in the Industry.
With a passion for music and an interest in audiovisual content, her debut as a visual artist alongside her sister Clara was “Wetland” (2019), where she created and performed all visual content live as part of the LoPati / Eufònic 2019 art residency.
After Amaya’s proposal of making an underwater video for her song “Siphonophores” and conversing about the album’s focus and theme, she decided to take the idea of inherited trauma as her principal point of inspiration.
The creation is a visual expression of the different stages of self-introspection when meeting, fighting and overcoming this burden and load we bare. From unawareness and denial, to agitation, shock and pain, to then ingestion, acceptance and forgiveness, to embrace all these parts of ourselves and reach peace in the path towards self discovery, self love and self care, instead of slight & neglect.

Well, this is fantastic. Thank you for creating this video. The one thing I struggle with regarding Super 8, and the reason why I currently do not use Reaper for live looping (even though I really wish I could) is the lack of undo option. I know that the easy solution is "just get better at looping" but looping can be challenging even for very skilled musicians (which I am not), and many other hardware/software loopers out there provide an undo option for this very reason.
You are not the only one missing this feature - I've seen it mentioned in the main reaper forum for super 8: forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2630271&highlight=undo#post2630271 I personally found that if I have to undo in the middle of a gig, I'm already in very muddy grounds haha but can't say that I haven't missed it! Thanks for watching and the nice words!

What looper are you using out of interest?
@@thewaxbiscuit I use a Reaper DAW session I have constructed to do all my live sound processing :) I have a small video covering some of this although I might do some more in depth stuff since there seems to be interest :)

@@maudthemoth It was my first time there after a friend asked if I'd like to come along; I sure didn't regret it, though we only had tickets for one day. Very friendly atmosphere and I enjoyed the musical variety. Coming from some of the more extreme metal at the other stages made your quite intimate performance stand out even more. I'll keep my eyes open for upcoming shows in the area - anything from Hanover to Cologne usually works pretty well. Looking forward to listening to your new music!
