The power is within you! Let go into the Silence of the Heart. Robert Adams
"The Power is Within You" - Uncover why there is nothing outside that can truly fulfill you, and why the love, peace, and completeness you seek are already within.
Robert Adams invites us into the profound silence of the heart, revealing the path to inner peace and our True Self. He shares the timeless wisdom of Advaita Vedanta with words that resonate deeply within, guiding us to awaken from the dream of separation and rediscover our true nature as pure consciousness.
This is another Robert Adams Satsang for which there is no original audio recording. This is from the Satsang The Silence of the Heart from November 10, 1991 not the book which shares the same name.
(You'll find that - @spiritual_audiobooks)
✨ Key Insights Include:
"The Power is Within You" - Uncover why there is nothing outside that can truly fulfill you, and why the love, peace, and completeness you seek are already within.
Illusion of Duality - Robert explains how dualistic thoughts-such as good and bad, success and failure-are merely passing images on the “chalkboard” of consciousness.
Transcending the Personal Self - Learn how to go beyond the ego and the body-mind identification to realize your timeless, unconditioned nature.
Peace in the Heart of All Experiences - Discover the center of stillness that remains untouched, even in the midst of life's challenges and emotions.
🌳 With his usual humour and common-sense manner, Robert reminds us that everything we need is already here.
The struggle for enlightenment ends when we understand that we are not the "doer" nor a separate entity striving for something. Instead, we are the light and peace of pure awareness-the silence beyond words.
**📌 Topics Explored: **
The Illusion of Separation - How our thoughts create the illusion of separateness, leading to suffering and desire
Self-Inquiry & True Knowledge - Simple yet profound questions to help us remember who we truly are
Chalkboard Metaphor - Understanding how fleeting experiences and emotions appear on the backdrop of eternal consciousness
Embodying Unconditional Love - Seeing ourselves and others as manifestations of the one, all-pervading love
Abiding in Silence - How to access the deep silence within and return to our peaceful, boundless nature

I hear what Robert is saying and deep down it intuitively feels like the TRUTH. Still... i find it hard to surrender all to God and trust he will take care of eveything while i remain in mental silence.😢 How does action happen spontaneously? If i am not thinking how will the mind and body keep working to pay the bills? How will i joke with my friends? If all is predetermined and i do something bad how do i just remain the witness of it and not feel guilt or bad? Am i to pretend? I just dont understand how all this will happen by itself 😢

You sound just like me Owen. I tied myself in knots with questions. It can feel really frustrating, especially when you've sensed the truth, you want to get to it, quickly. I'm not sure anyone can help you fast forward through this questioning stage. It just seems to take the time it takes. I found the Three Principles (Syd Banks) to be a turning point for me in understanding the foundational truth of all this (It's not Advaita explicitly, the beauty of it is that Syd had no reference points to influence his writing so it's written in plain language) . It gives the mind something to grasp onto by categorising everything into 3 elements (Mind, Consciousness and Thought) and helps to shut it up. It may be helpful for you too. Here's a good intro from Syd - th-cam.com/video/BbLcuHCUwMQ/w-d-xo.html.

Thanks ❤ listened to Syd , resonated when he says thoughts are ALL past and future (don't truly exist). Only now exists and there is no thought in the now. Every thought that arises is either about the past or future and therfore has no real existence ... ❤ Ties up so beautifully with Robert who advocates stilling the mind. The thought free mind is closest to reality I'm going to think of this eveytime I get bogged down with thoughts and doubts!

“The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride." And we … kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok … But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.” -Bill Hicks

Struck me that the story ends with a "positive" outcome. Must it? Maybe the king would have received a merciful and swift death as a sacrifice, but was later captured by his rivals and tortured. "All is well, and unfolding as it should." As this is the mantra, could not these example stories/parables embody what appears to be absolute and unnecessary evil/suffering, and still we should trust? Feels contradictory to tease the intuitive "how can *that* be good?" response, only to fulfill it ("see, it actually was good, you of little faith!"). Couldn't the story end in tragedy, full stop?
