    Ivan Grozni was the same dinasty as the Rus rulers centuries before. The comparison of Romania and Roman Empire is out of place

    • @DevinSanLuis
      @DevinSanLuis 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, it is quite an apt comparison. As far as Dynasty - it doesn’t matter much here as Danylo (Daniel) the king of Ruthenia (Galicia-Volhynia) was from the Same dynasty and ruled many of the core Kyivan Rus’ lands. The dynasty of Rurik pasted through the Ruth (Ukrainians) just the same as the rulers of the Muscovites. The rules of Rus were very much a family affair, rulers of the same bloodline, the Dynasty, ruled many parts of the Kyivan Rus’. The Dynasty in Muscovia(Russia) also ended before the “Times of Troubles” in the 1500s. so any historical precedent for claim over the lands of Rus’ that the modern state used today is null. The Romanov dynasty is not Rurik’s. The Muscovia of the 1600s - let alone the Russia of today, had as much claim on the historical lands of Rus’ as Romania does on the historic lands of the Roman Empire.

      @DevinSanLuis Why would any Country want to be like Canada? It is projected to have the slowest growth out of any developed country for the next 30 years. It has had one of the worst cost of living increases since covid out of any developed country. GDP per capita growth over the last decade had underperformed most developed countries. The quality of health care has been declining for the last 2 decades and there are no solutions in sight. The country is in perpetual fiscal deficits and its people are among the most indebted in the world. It has a drug, crime and homelessness problem similar to the USA (not as bad yet). Population growth is entirely led by immigration and for some reason the government imports people primarily from India, one of the biggest cities in the country has a population around 0.5 million and Indians make up over 50%. I could probably throw out another dozen points in this ramble and still not touch the surface.

    • @DevinSanLuis
      @DevinSanLuis 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Every issue you raised from the economic, safety, crime, to any other of your supposed dozen spare points... Russia does worse on every single one of them. All of them. To say otherwise is laughable bordering on delusion - despite whatever weird beef you have with Canada. Look I get the western privilege but the people in democratic, developing nations would LOVE to be closer to a Canada than a Russia. That is a fact.

    • @metals1022
      @metals1022 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, Canada is a better place to be than russia, but it is not a pinnacle of success like most foreigners make it out to be. It leads with many 21st-century problems, and I don't think that it is, in its current state, something to aspire to.

    I would respectfully disagree with your analogy of Russia and Romania. Mosovia didn't come from mongols per se, fact of vassalage from mongols doesn't break the dynasty link of Rurikovid who ruled the Moscow, and they ruled it before and after mongol conquest. In the end the appellation to ancient history is the fruit of XVIII and XIX century retrospective, which in turn has turned to modernistic nationalist (not in a derogatory way) ideas which Putin in his rhetoric tries to anachronisticly promote

    • @DevinSanLuis
      @DevinSanLuis หลายเดือนก่อน

      I appreciate coming at disagreements respectfully! Truly! Why I believe it has some legs is the fact that while Moscovia did not originate from mongol creation, they were the reason they become so powerful. Even Russian or Russian friendly sources seem to at least begrudgingly admit to this. Timothy Snyder, and Orest Subtelny both write on the fact that Muscovia, Russian Tsardom, Soviets, and as we see with Russia today, they tried to really sell a narrative of ownership of the Rus’ identity. It was and is their justifying their imperialism. As you mentioned Putin and his lackeys all speak on ancient treaties, openly state they believe they still own the Baltic States, because of their “Rus’ ties” this subverts Ukrainian and Belarusian sovereignty, etc etc. ultimately history can be a weapon. Putin and the official Soviet and Russian narrative uses Ukrainian history against its own people and that is how most people see the history of this side of the world. The Russian way. That’s why I believe the History of Ukraine should be told by them going forward.

    • @comptedelautreamont4095

      Safer* yes. It’s true that not all of Ukraine is at the same risk as somewhere like Vovchansk but let’s not downplay things. Odesa, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih these places face attacks and fatalities, some daily. It is important for that to be documented and shown to the West. I have made clear in my reporting that the East and West of Ukraine live in two different realities though. Life goes on in both Lviv, Kyiv, and Kharkiv but at drastically different levels of threat. Lastly, if you do serve, thank you for that.

      @@DevinSanLuis I have never had problems with my Minox 35 ML, but be careful with older models though. 🤣 "Full control with focus" on a XA, not more than with a XA 3 ! If you nned full control, then there is only SLR cameras. The XA 3 and XA 4 is a newer design and have faster shutter speed which often can be needed, the XA 4 can even focus much closer than a XA ! The most "bad" is the XA1 which is very simple.

      @@DevinSanLuis I love the original XA. If I was to sell you on the XA3 though it would be that it can meter up to 1600 ISO, if you’re pushing black and white film to 1600, you’ll have sharp photos as the camera will automatically use faster shutter speeds and smaller apertures for wider depth of field at the higher ISO.
