In the Highways and the Hedges (Gospel)
I just noticed the book beside you, "I Heard There Was a Secret Chord" by Daniel Levitin. I just started to read this book a short while ago.
I'm about half way through it. Good read...for me (I don't consider myself a reader). I guess we have more in common than just "mortal beings" ! Cheers
Wow! Love it, love it, love it! ❤
All the best for the new year!
Wishing you good health for 2025....and may the music continue to be heard! Cheers
One of my favorite songs!!! Well Done!
Thank you....glad you enjoyed it.
You have a lovely voice!
Great choice of song!
Well done… great tune.
Thank you
Very relaxed and inviting performance.
Just trying to share some simple music with easy to listen lyrics. Took some inspiration from your "Shady Grove" on the porch way back when. Cheers
honored to be the first like!!!
Thanks...glad you enjoyed !
Beautiful song ❤❤❤
Thank you. I appreciate your comment.
You knew him? I just kept putting it in britian to protect gibralter, obviously I'm spain
No....for me it was simply a story which, unfortunately, I am sure has been repeated in real life so many times. The tune and lyrics resonated with my soul, so I thought I would share. Glad that it seemed to resonate with you too. Cheers
Beautifully done, sir!
Thank you. R.I.P. Harry Chapin
I am so glad to find you. That's my kind of music, so much like Leonard Cohen...a song with a story and some soul to it. Thank you sir, thank you.
Thanks. So often today the lyrics get buried beneath elaborate musical productions that tend to obscure the message. Cheers
Wow great lyrics! Great song as always, Mr. Wireguy!
Not my lyrics....but nevertheless pretty pointy stuff for these times.
A+
Great song and good delivery Bro.❤ 2:06 2:07
nice job
Love this one
That box you're plucking on reminds me of an instrument we have here in Norway called "langeleik". Also, your voice fits this song really well. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for that information. I am often asked..."What do you call that thing ?" Seems almost every country has something similar...all called by different names. Now I can add Norway to the list. Thank you. Cheers
@@MrWireguy Yeah these instruments must be related. I guess like how a flute or a fiddle will have many variants, depending on country/region. Our langeleik's strings are arranged very differently, the langeleik having many drone strings but only one string you actually play the melody on, but just the visual, they look so much like each other.
@@Nabium Just had a look at some of the langeliek videos. Verrry interesting to see the similarities and the differences. Some mountain dulcimers have 4 strings and some just 3 like mine. Melody can be played on 1 string, and the others become drones. Or you can play multiple strings at once to get chords, as in the recorded piece. Music is such a limitless field of endeavor. Cheers from Canada
Just found your Channel and i really love what you do! God bless you :)
Bravissimo! Ciao from Italy :-)
This is so lovely, you play and sing it beautifully! And your galax dulcimer is gorgeous. Can you please tell me what your dulcimer is tuned to here?
Thank you for your kind words. Dulcimer is tuned to AEA. The "galax" part is just an add on "possum board" that I put together to try and boost the sound a bit. It does help some. The body of the instrument is made of birds eye maple...one of my favorite woods.
Thank you! I recently bought a walnut body galax back dulcimer from Arkansas and I have it tuned to open C (CGCC). Your modification to your dulcimer is great, it sounds just beautiful! I am enjoying working on this song. You really inspired me!
@@bonniekhundrieser8830 I also get a lot of inspiration from some of the TH-cam posts. Music is definitely for sharing ! Cheers
Lovely 😊
Beautifully played… all the best for 2024.
May 2024 provide all that you need....good health first ! Cheers
Nice wordifyin'!. John is probably enjoying this too out in his garden by a tree.
He was such an inspiration to so many folks. Sure inspired me to give it a shot.
He surely inspired me to start learning to play guitar at age 50. Here's my cover of his "Souvenirs". th-cam.com/video/tyF2BzXFXxY/w-d-xo.html
Love this! Really like the simplicity you held on to here. I have an arrangement of Comfortably Numb that I need to get crackin' on practicing up for recording. You have inspired me today. Thanks.
Its fun and always interesting to try and take it a bit outside of the box. Traditional stuff is good too....but why limit ourselves !
Beautiful music. Love the look of your dulcimer. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for your kind words. May it inspire you in your musical journey !
I like the Maple Leafs on the main body. Sharp.
A bit of Canadiana.....eh !
@@MrWireguy You bet and proud of it. Cool look don't you think?
Happy song! Nicely played and sung!
Very nice playing and singing. Who is the maker of your dulcimer? Cynthia
Thank you for your kind comment. I had built another dulcimer from a kit and then decided to put this one together from scratch. Had a ton of fun building it and even more fun again playing it. Made mostly from fancy maple. Learned a lot in the process and the big take home was......I will never live long enough to become a luthier ! Cheers
@@MrWireguy well you are truly gifted! 😇
Very nice. I love how rest the dulcimer on the arms of the chair! Thank you.
The temple of the king by rainbow would sound incredible on that.
Incredible rendition. Great job, MrWireguy. Keep it going.
great cover!
nicely done!
Scarborough fair. If you're going to Scarborough fair don't forget your dulcimer and a few delta 8 prerolls.🙂
really good
Thanks
Love it! Rod and Debbie
We have more in common then music and Portal Heights; th-cam.com/video/T4gczQnssYI/w-d-xo.html
This is a strange coincidence. I grew up in the 40s & 50s next to the Mount Royal tunnel exit that you see at the end of the video. Brings back memories…
Good ole Portal Heights ! Loved riding that train out to A Ma Baie.
@@MrWireguy Small world… How do you know Portal Heights? In the winter we used to toboggan down the banks of Portal Heights. One kid would stand on the tracks to make sure no trains were coming and the other kids would ride down the hill onto the tracks.
@@lewdite My association to Portal Heights was much less intimate than yours. As a railroad enthusiast, I used to ride the train from Central station to A Ma Baie, so I was very conscious of all the stops in between. I just loved the ride and always paid close attention to all the details of the old time coaches and locomotives. A total nerd at heart ! Sounds like we both had fun for very different reasons....and now share the joy of music and song. Cheers
@@MrWireguy I grew up in TMR but now live in NDG.
@@lewdite "Misspent" my youth in Verdun and now find myself in Havelock, QC. Could have never even dreamed such a thing.
Great lyrics… well done. Brought a smile to my face.
A common experience for folks of our age. Cheers
Well done… enjoyed the lyrics.
Thanks....much appreciate your comment.
Very nice song.
Very sweet singing and dulcimer.
Thank you for your kind words. Cheers
What a treat to find your videos. Thank you for sharing
Nice, sounds like Shady Grove.
I guess it is....never really thought about it till now !

Nice song and so true. It’s the same thing that happened to us. My husband controls it. I don’t touch it. Not that my husband does so great. Many a time I’ve heard angry words and saw the remote go flying across the room. Then the grandchildren come and they can make it work perfectly. I liked our old tv better. Thanks for the song.
Great job. Pretty song.
Very good. Thank you
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed.
