Issachah Savage "Mein Lieber Schwan" Lohengrin
I was in San Francisco for 6 months on business. Just before I began my long journey back to Dresden, a friend and I went to the Merola Grand Finale Concert at the beautiful San Francisco Opera House. I could not believe what I was witnessing from those young singers. I felt like I was truly watching history in the making. They were ALL very fine singers but the Tenors clearly dominated. All of the voices were certainly memorable particularly, Zanda Svede, Pena Pati, Maria Valdes and Joseph Lattanzi.
However, Issachah Savage was outstanding!! He gave the audience a real professional performance, and they certainly showed their appreciation. His beautiful voice cuts like a razor. He sang Lohengrin's farewell aria "Mein Lieber Schwan" I hope we get the chance to hear him in Germany. Clearly he made a lasting impression on me. He's young and will need to fix a few minor German things, but I can only imagine what that voice will be in five years.

Beautiful voice do not forget to praise God with it also
I was fortunate enough to see him for the Merola Scholars Grand Finale (2013). I know this is an overused word but he was/is AMAZING !!!
His voice is as graceful and high-flying as a swan. Thrilling.
bon Dieu ! quelle voix. Jamais entendu ça avant. Y a-t-il d'autres enregistrements?
Gorgeous! Sharing.
Brilliance from a young heldentenor. What an artist! The applause goes on and on!
There should be potential to much more - the present Heldentenors are not convincing. But he could get up with Melchoir and Björling. It will be interesting to follow his development.
A Helden Tenor! There's hope! Very Well produced voice,,, no b.s. in the sound!
Issachah stepped in on Saturday for an ailing colleague as Siegmund in Walkure at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto. He blew the roof off the joint and the audience went nuts! I was glad to be there. Thanks for posting.
Instant goosebumps from the first note. He should give us all hope for a glorious future for opera!
Issachah, I am simply thrilled with the overall beauty of your tone, the crispness of the German and the expressiveness! You are one who is certainly proving that big beautiful voices are here to stay! You deserved all the applause you got!
This voice is simply AMAZING. I want to hear more. I'd kill hear Mr. Savage sing Parsifal. So musical and EXTREMELY communicative. It's a huge sound, but i'm most impressed with it's beauty and color.
Ok. I have been hearing about this rising young tenor for quite some time now and I finally had the chance to hear him live today at his Houston Grand Opera Debut in the role of Radamès in Aida. WOW! HE WAS AMAZING! WHAT A VOICE! IT IS TRULY A BEAUTIFUL SOUND! I haven't hear a voice with his consistency from top to bottom in a very long time. I am a real fan.
Bravo!
SING IZZY!!!!!
Simply Beautiful. And he is electrifying on stage. Saw him as Radames in North Carolina.
My God what a voice. It is real art when I can feel your soul in your singing. You not only very a big voice, but beautiful one. Reminds me of a young Di Steffano. Take your time and your name will be among the greats. I can easily hear you singing Otello in another ten years.
He is amazing! I have been watching Issachah since 2009 when he won the Giulio Gari competition. He sang "O Paradis" from Meyerbeer's L'African and brought the house down. He is an awesome performer.
