Canning meat using the raw pack method is easier than you might think!

Believe it or not, using the raw method to can meat is one of the simplest canning projects you can do. In this video, I'm canning to duck to get it out of the freezer and on the shelf where I can see it and use it for quick meal recipes. #pressurecanning foodpreservation #canning #duck #CapCut

Canning reduced sugar Blackberry Jelly using Pomona's Pectin!

Reduced sugar Blackberry Jelly! I'm still learning how to use Pomona's Pectin, but this was a win. This jelly turned out just the right consistency and it tastes AMAZING! 😋 FYI, waterbath canning is so easy, you don't need any special equipment. You can use any pot with a lid large enough to hold enough water to cover your jars, and you can use a dish towel to keep the jars off the bottom of th...
My first attempt at hot process soap using 3 oils that you can find at any grocery store!

My first attempt at hot process soap! I had a setback or two, but overall, I'm super happy with the way it turned out. I'm already thinking about what I want to make next, but I have no more room for soap curing! This recipe is so simple: 5.6 oz lard 5.6 oz coconut oil 2.8 oz olive oil 2.9 oz sodium hydroxide 5.23 oz water I added in a pinch of silk, 1 oz jojoba oil, .5 oz fragrance, and 1 TBSP...

This marinara sauce turned out so good! I will definitely be making this again. From pasta to pizza sauce, this recipe is so versatile. Hmmm. Is your house humid? Do you have a lot of plants? Live beside a river or lake? I’m wondering if somehow you are managing to continually reintroduce moist air? Even the worst dehydrator will do herbs in a few hours. I even do parsley and spinach in the oven, with just the light on. Too high a heat will “case harden” some goods, like jerky. Basically the outside gets too dry too fast, and the remaining moisture is trapped and can’t get past that barrier. Try testing with a thermometer, maybe the temp is off. Maybe it cycles heat incorrectly. Plenty of ventilation around machine?/is it mistakenly cycling off because it’s pulling in its own warm air. 🤷‍♀️🫶

      @DeborahThird-og1uo We do battle high humidity here in Louisiana. I wonder if this style of dehumidifier just isn't viable for our climate. The round style dehydrators seem to work just fine. I will test the temperature with a thermometer to see if it's getting up to temp. Thanks for your help!

    👍 Sounds like Denali is a dud. I know this isn't helpful but that's my view. Those other people saying how great it was might have said that it's great because they could have gotten some kind of kickback. Maybe try a different brand? 🙂

      @rachelstrahan2486 This whole struggle has really made me look closely at people promoting a product that they make a commission from selling. These style dehydrators are not cheap. It will be a while before I'm willing or able to spend that kind of $ again on the same type of appliance!

      As long as the lid is sealed, the food is safe. I typically try to use what I have canned within a couple of years, so I keep them in a 'first in, first out' rotation. Hope that helps!

    Love the idea of using home canned beef! One thing I would mention is I love making a cheese sauce at home with american or velveeta and I find that I don't need to use any roux for my cheese sauces anymore because the stuff in the processed cheese brings it together (sodium citrate). I like skipping the roux in that case because it makes the sauce creamier imo

    • @KingsLandingFarm
      @KingsLandingFarm 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know why I didn't think of this! I don't make a roux when I'm making cheesy chicken spaghetti, but I was half trying to follow a recipe I saw online and it called for making a roux. Great idea to just skip that step, thank you!

    They're black eyed peas. Is that air escaping from the peas? I've soaked them overnight then boiled them but I've never canned them before.

    • @KingsLandingFarm
      @KingsLandingFarm 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @deborahhardy357 These peas are purple hull pink eye peas fresh from our garden. The bubbling that you see is the liquid boiling inside the jar. Sometimes this continues for hours after the jars are removed from the pressure canner.
