2015 Ford Fiesta 1.6L timing belt noise

The crankshaft sprocket likes to separate into two pieces allowing the timing belt to walk forward and contacting the timing cover which then creates a whining/chirping type noise from the engine bay area. Customer was recommended diagnosis for a rattle coming from the front of the valve cover along with a check engine light code for the vanos system. They refused at first and made it one block away from our shop before calling us again that their vehicle had completely stalled. This is what we found

Vehicle had a P0171 system lean code. During my test drive I noticed that the fuel trims and oxygen sensor data all looked good until I would come to a stop. This is what I found
GM transfer case oil pump issues

Common GM tranfer case oil pump problem. The clip that holds the oil pump in place will break causing the oil pump to fit loosely inside and rattle until it creates a hole on the housing. When it does this fluid leaks out and can lead to tranfer case failure. You can use some j.b. weld to seal the hole off, if it's not severe enough

Exhaust leak from both manifolds on this F350 super duty. It can be fun getting to the manifolds on these. Takes a lot of patience, skinny hands and a welder
2007 Lincoln MKZ water pump

Don't mistake the weep hole for the water pump on these thinking it's a freeze plug. It sits right behind the alternator. The water pump is driven off the timing chain and in order to access it you will need to drop the engine, remove the timing cover, timing chain and guides which require you to also remove the vvt solenoid/housing where it sits in front of the vvt phaser. No special tools req...

In addition to the turbos and gasket kit, was there anything else you needed for the install? I called Infiniti and they said it would need heat shields/heat insulators but I feel those could just be recycled from the previous turbos Thanks!
I just reused the heat shield and stuff. You don't need new ones

Does this engine come out from the top or from underneath the vehicle?

There should be a class action lawsuit against Infiniti, for purposeful designing the engine like this....
designing it like what? to be packaged for install efficiently at the factory? good luck with that, its very easy to drop the engine, as evidence by this video

@@mk5rob42 thats the fault of the place you take it to, book says something like 16hrs of labor to drop the engine, replace the turbos and reinstall... it does not take anywhere near 16hrs to do it for an experienced tech.
@@TurboGSR96 yeah, well you shouldn't have to drop the engine to get to the turbos, it's designed on purpose for a money grab! Most cars you can reach the turbo without moving anything! Stop shilling for Nissan...

Can’t lie, the fact these cars need the engine and trans dropped for turbo replacement is kinda crazy, it’s a wear item, failures are also very possible. This type of maintenance lowkey scares me away from getting into a Q even though I really like them

That sounds like the turbo is not meant to be serviced. Older Infiniti with natural asperated V6 is way easier to service.

I used to be a technician for Ford for 5 Years. switched to nursing. A nurse now for 17 years, I only work on my and family cars.
I just had this exact work done this past week. Cost me $1,284.82 when all was said and done. At 114,942 miles. 2014 Ford Fiesta SE - Timing Belt Kit, Water Pump, Spark plug, Ignition wire set, Serpentine belt, Anti freeze, Crankshaft sprocket, bolt(crankshaft).
thats crazy all that work to change some turbos i imagine its expensive as hell im happy wit my 3.7 its fast n dont got 2 worry bout all that digg
But it’s not turbo? Only reason you should be doing this on 3.0t is upgrading

Same issue here. 2016 Fiesta 1.6L. This should be a recall, Poor design. It's a shame I have to replace with the same defective design

did u have to use the exhaust temp sensor, mounted on the turbo? The new updated turbo does not have a port for those temp sensors. Do i have to update ECM or just calibrate wastegate is good enough?
The old turbos on this vehicle did have the temp sensors on it but they were never plugged in. We looked and looked at first but nothing. So with the new turbos that port wasn't even there just plugged up. We just put the new turbos on. Don't need to do anything as far as updates if they were never plugged in
@@noesquicktechtips268 I c, then it must've been updated. In my case, orig turbo is still plugged in but the new part have no port. I guess i should ask Infiniti
I have spoked with infiniti techs, and there is a ECM updated for exhaust temp it old turbo is goin to get replaced.
How much to swap turbos ??
Save yourself some time and the headache of bleeding the charge air cooler system by unclamping and removing both charge air coolers from the throttle bodies and hoses to the turbo outlet and simply flipping them forward to lay upside down on top of the front bumper. No need to disconnect the coolant hoses to them.

Because power isn’t simple. Stock this motor might only produce 310 wheel horsepower, but just vrx70 turbos and fbo e43 it makes 741 wheel horsepower on stock motor and trans. This engine is a godsend for us tuners.
I have a 2011 G37X, it's been running so well and trouble free, 328hp is plenty without a turbo. No way you can find a reliable car like that these days.

145 kms on a 2016 q50 never did turbos don’t even know what guys are doing in these to wear them out so fast but if your jb4 with cat less downs don’t complain

Doesn't look like it. Book time for the cats is like 13 hours so I'm assuming everything has to be dropped also to do them
Yes, just have access to a lift and bend the heat shields, and you'll be able to remove the upper cats
Engine does not have to be removed to do the cats but you will need a hoist
I don’t think mine has that problem but it’s in for a water pump replacement and they will change the timing belt as well

My aveo is lean now my mass air flow sensor is new.
My fiesta has the same issue. Does that pulley have a key in it to align with the crank, or does the tension from the balancer bolt hold it in?

For the last two months I've been puzzling over the "lean condition" alert. I typed in "my Aveo runs lean" and TH-cam pops up with this video. Opened the hood, and there was my cracked air hose, exactly as on your video. Awesome! Many thanks!

the dealer did mine like this may last year... my car had 79,590 miles on it.. only issue it ever had was the water pump. 3100 bucks.. Well may this year 2023 engine stalls, bring it back to dealer, they tell me I need new engine now, over 10k cost and the car at the time has 81,245 miles on it so only 1,655 miles drove from pump fail to full engine fail.. need help on this from anyone. supposedly there's a class action lawsuit now on these pumps.
