Hey, there's a new Witches special on Discovery channel starting this upcoming Monday. We just came back into the states, but we got detained going in. My brother, sister, and I had a blast.
I wanted to let you know that I'm getting ready to drive 4 hours to Niagara Falls with my brother and sister, so I thought checking the weather would be a good idea. It turns out on the visitors guide webpage I'm featured on the list of Canada's least wanted,. I'm holding you responsible.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r 😆. Have a great trip!
Great video ☕📚🧙
Awesome video. I think it's remarkable how much research and work you put into it. If you feel like it sometime look into the Central Pennsylvania witches history. Central PA is full of dark mysterious history. If you ever have a chance go to Gettysburg sometime because it's incredible, plus it's probably the most haunted spot in North America.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r Thanks! I will definitely look it up!
Jill, please do me a favor. Please watch The Dead Don't Die and let me know what you think. I think it's tremendous and my sister said she's currently questioning my sanity and whether I was adopted for my tastes in movies lol.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I saw it a while ago. It’s a great movie! The cast is amazing.
Apparently we sit in rarified company, we must share similar personalities.
If you enjoyed listening to Sarah on the tour, she is one of the co-hosts of Salem The Podcast
@@kyleprescott7898 I’ll check it out. Sarah was so knowledgeable and interesting. Thanks!
Ever think about doing a video on animals feautured in horror books? I think we need a Jaws v Cujo movie because ridiculousness can always be topped.
When I get to Canada on Monday I'm planning on letting the cashier at Tim Hortons, and all the restaurants at various restaurants know that I know Jill from Eerie Archives. What kind of discount do you think this will gain me? I'm hoping 50% off everything.
haha good luck with that! Hopefully it's not too cold at the Falls!
It was 26 here this morning, which is brutal. Scraping ice off your car at 5am and then getting out of a car with heated seats is akin to capital punishment, so the falls shall be a fiesta
Great video. I subbed! Trying to find you on bookstagram.💀🍁🍂📚☕🎃👻🦇
Great choices. When I saw the topic I immediately thought of Carrie, and to a lesser extent, Hidden Pictures.
Hidden Pictures is awesome. I suppose Carrie would be in that category as well
OMG how have you not read Rosemary's Baby yet? It's the ultimate horror mother's book. I haven't read my copy in years, you can have it if you want because I won't read again. On your Rouge book if you tab it with nail polish remover it'll remove the stickiness without ruining the cover because even as a guy with selective hearing my sister taught me a few things like that, be well, peace.
The nail polish remover sort of worked but not entirely....maybe the one I have isn't strong enough
I'm sorry I thought that would work. If you want to you can always cut a piece of that see through plastic the libraries use to keep books nice, that way the sticky part will be covered.
Great wrap up 📚🧙👻🍁🍂☕
Speaking of movies, do you know what I miss from the 90's? On Friday night I'd go with friends to Blockbuster Video and rent horror movies based on the cool vhs box art. I failed to mention I'm also looking forward to Boston pizza and Pizza pizza in Canada.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r there was something special about renting by a movie at Blockbuster
I wish I was able to finish the elementals! It was too dry for me but I’m glad you enjoyed it. The return is my fave book of RH!!
@@happyhauntslibrary I really like Harrison’s style
I think it's extremely atmospheric and there's absolutely room for a sequel. Jill, you mentioned you had a haunted house experience in a sort of shy brief way. Can you post a video about it?
@ haha ya this old house is odd. I’ll see how I can organize my thoughts around it but it may be a while before I make a video about it.
I am planning a trip to Salem in a couple weeks. Very informative video. Thank you!
@@mikesullivan9554 I hope you have a marvellous time!
You're missing the insanity of election day down here.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I hope you’re all holding up ok down there!
One side is to happy, one side is to mad, and I'm honestly really quiet, borderline shy, so I tend to just listen and keep to myself.
@ that’s probably a good approach
I really don't have any November based book recommendations, but as far as movies go check out Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for a comedy, and for an absolutely messed up horror movie watch Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving came out last year, and it starts with a very 80's feel then turns crazy, peace.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I’ve seen Planes, Trains and Automobiles and it’s top notch! I have to check out this Thanksgiving movie
I decided to watch Hocus Pocus with my sister because she loves it, and I thought it's from the 90's, how bad can it be? I have words that would express anything positive, so I shall remain silent lol.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r haha that’s fair. It’s one of those movies that is full of nostalgia for me but I don’t know how I would feel if I watched it for the first time now.
Gotta love pumpkin carving. If only pumpkins could survive all year round to carve them throughout the seasons..i have black and white fake ones from Michaels craft store for all year decor. 🎃☕🍁🍂📚
@@Ms.SpookyNerd that’s a great idea! I have little ghosts that I keep all year round.
Who tells you that your audio wasn't good in previous videos? It's fine. Did you do anything fun this Halloween weekend? I'm 2 weeks away from Tim Hortons and awesome Canadian KitKats.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r you can count on the KitKats! I hope the Tim Hortons is as good as it was the last time you had it.
Since you're in Canada are you a hockey fan? If so who's your favorite team. They always called Gretzky the Great One, Lemieux was the Magnificent One, and I think you fall right in between, so what's in between Great and Magnificent?
@ aww that’s kind. I’m a terrible Canadian because I’ve never paid any attention to hockey.
Well you're smart because I've spent far too much money and time playing and watching it.
Great book haul. I subbed!👻💀🦇🎃📚☕🍂🍁🧡🖤💛
Love your videos do you have Instagram?
Welcome to booktube 📚☕
Awesome video Jill. I only made a channel so that I can leave comments on yours,. You always do an job and your content is entertaining, passionate, and informative. I won 3rd prize for the costume contest last night which was a 50.00 gift card. Have a great weekend.
How do you feel about zombies? Pittsburgh is the zombie capitol of the world. Google Pittsburgh's Monroeville Mall zombies. I dunno I thought you might dig the whole George Romero thing. We don't have too much witch history here, but my 3rd grade teacher may have been one in disguise.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I’ve never heard of that before! Thanks for the fun introduction
For me, SHINING is a good example of a movie that is better than the book. I love Stephen Kings writing, and there are only a few of his books I don’t like, but in my opinion, Kubricks vision is far more superior than the book.
I mean you can't really go wrong with either one, plus the 1997 miniseries is pretty good. I remember being in high school watching that weekly
@@SixStringSamur4i The Shining is so well done
Happy Halloween Eve, it's like Christmas Eve only different. You'll be stunned by what I saw the last time I was in Canada. I was shocked myself because I was surrounded by them, and on all 4 sides.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r wait, what was it?
The last time I was in Canada I was surrounded on all 4 sides by Canadians, it was astonishing lol.
Did you do anything for Halloween? I had a blast with my niece and nephew. She was Taylor Swift and I was the most harmless 6ft 4in Michael Myers ever. I'm going to a costume party tonight with my brother and sister and 1st prize is 2 Pittsburgh Penguins hockey tickets which is awesome.
Do you have any must watch Halloween night movie traditions? I always watch the original Halloween and Monster Squad.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I like the idea of a movie tradition but I usually mix it up each Halloween 🎃
Is the place you work doing anything for Halloween? We are having our Halloween party today and everyone is encouraged to dress up. Guess who was the only 1 to dress up? I won the costume contest and prizes by default. A bunch of humbug old folks here, and me.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r that’s awesome. I’m going to wear a Halloween sweater at work tmr!
Happy Sunday, Jill. I carved a pumpkin with my niece and nephew last week, she's 7 and he's 10. My niece thought it was the most disgusting thing ever with the worst smelll of all time. As big brother's will do, I would know because I did the same thing to ny sister when we were kids, he convinced my niece that we were killing the pumpkin so of course she started crying. When she figured out this wasn't true he received a nice glop of pumpkin guts and seeds on his head. Stay warm, you're awesome, peace.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r haha that sounds like me and my older brother when we were that age. I’m glad you’re enjoying fall activities!
What's a hairy cow? The Ernest movies are awesome, but my sister loves Hocus Pocus, so check that out. I think the scariest movie I've ever seen is at a tie with the 1st Halloween movie and The Conjuring. I'm 45 and the Wicked witch of the west still scares the coffee out of me. I don't have a shark story, but I have a snake story to share with you sometime that resulted in me still being terrified of them. I think your vast audience would love to hear about your haunted house.
I always forget things to tell you. Since we're the same age, err I think we are anyhow, if you haven't done so yet watch The Wizard of Oz sequel from the 80's called Return To Oz because it's one of the scariest things you'll ever watch. You can laugh but I'm being serious
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I should have specified - highland cows 😆
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I haven’t even heard of that one
Philippians 2:10-11 New King James Version (NKJV) that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Amen!
Happy freezing Sunday. 1st of all I just finished reading My Best Friend's Exorcism because you recommended it and the cover is awesome. I enjoyed it, but I've been told as a guy I'm not supposed to, however, I never received the memo beforehand. The book and movie for The Shining are both amazing, but they are completely different. I recommend both. I saw Terrifier 3 yesterday, and I can't suggest you or anyone else watch it because I don't want to be responsible for endless nightmares.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I’ve watched the Shining but haven’t even thought to grab the book. I probably will someday. Eee kinda want to watch Terrifier 3
It certainly has it's humor to it. I think Art the clown has hilarious mannerisms, but it's obviously a gorefest. I forgot to mention for your Fall reading to check out The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. It is not a horror book, and I wish Stephen King wrote like this more often because it's a genuinely good story.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I’ll look it up. Thx!
I just got 18 horror books from Amazon. I'd send you some to read after I finish but I have no clue what it would cost to ship over the border. By the way did you know KitKats in Canada are superior to ours?
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r that’s so many, me know how they go! Ya your kitkats are so bad 😆
Have you ever seen Trick R Treat? It's 3 or 4 awesome short stories in film form. One of them is about a young girl who dresses up as a witch and becomes one. I think you'd dig this. I know your channel is about books and I'm a big dork, so I apologize.
That sounds right my alley! Thanks!
When you were young do you remember watching Nickelodeon's Are you afraid of the dark? It was fun, and now my niece and nephew are asking me "Uncle T T can we watch that show and read Goosebumps?
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I loved Nickelodeon!
I know this is off subject, but I'm in Pittsburgh, so therefore Gettysburg is within driving distance. If you ever have the opportunity to visit there in the Fall it is one of the eeriest experiences you'll ever have, plus they have bookstores everywhere, including 1 massive store. It is the most haunted town in the US.
Nicely done overview of Salem!
@@martyabeln6167 thank you!
salem witch museum is old.... I went there as a kind in 1972,,then again in 2019...and it was the same...same for the witch dungeon had not changed either.......sadly for me salem has become too commercial and cheesy
@@davebruins8623 I think it was easier for me to enjoy since I was told it was cheesy before I went there and it was my first time.

I don't know what kind of music you're into, but if you like awesome 80's punk check out The Return of the Living Dead soundtrack for your Halloween season. The movie is fantastic as well, plus the novel version is completely different.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I know this is blasphemous but I don’t care for 80s music 😬
Wait that’s not entirely true. I like some 80s music but not a tonne of it. 😬
I'm not big on much 80's outside of a few select bands, I'm a 90's kid, I grew up with listening to the Seattle bands. It's not blasphemous, you like what you dig which is awesome because you can turn others onto what you like.
I would have added proctors ledge (witch hanging site) and memorial, Salem village parsonage and maritime museum too. There's a lot of shops and awesome places to eat and visit. If you come during summer time its cheaper less lines and same spooky feel. Hope you visit again. Btw there's a castle (Hammond castle) outside of Salem in Gloucester worth visiting. Plus ferry to Boston is cheap and definitely worth the visit too. For a cheaper visit hare are a few suggestions , probably spend half or less if you do these things. 1. Book flight and hotel combo package. 2. plan half to full year in advance. 3. Go summer or early fall not October. 4. walk, uber, ferry or train are the easiest to get around in Salem most things are walking distance. 5. Hotels outside of downtown Salem are usually cheaper however Hotel Salem is in the heart of it all and reasonably priced however there's 2 bars in there. One is the rooftop bar and its busy usually so nights are still a little loud but the view contemporary aesthetic and local bars, price and location more than make up for it. 6. Lastly the trolley and ferry are great both are their own tours you get see surrounding areas and it is some of the best ways to get around.
@@aequitasvox2488 thanks for your additions! They’re perfect ☺️
Your lighting is fine, besides your content and passion for the content is all that matters. You make very honest videos, which as 90's kids you'll recall is what made the Seattle music scene so relevant after a decade of the poseur hair bands. Read the Apt Pupil novella if you want to be severely disturbed. You're awesome, peace.
Thank you so much! I’ll check out Apt Pupil!
Please be forewarned that it is a very uncomfortable read.
I'm going to Niagara Falls in November for the 1st time since high school. Are you aware of any good book spots near there?
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r sorry I’ve only been there once too…many moons ago

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃, SAFE TRAVEL, ONE DAY I LOVE GO TOO SALEM MASSACHUSETTS AND SURROUNDING AREA.
Happy Halloween! It's such a fun place :)
This list is right up my alley, thank you!
Thanks for the useful tips! You saved me so much time. I will definitely check out the spot where Max got his shoes stolen 😂 and the seafood spot.
Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll use the list on my trip!
Speaking of Fall eats every year candy corn looks delicious. Orange, yellow, white candy, it looks tremendous yet I never learn. Dunkin donuts pumpkin swirl coffee is like hot heaven in a cup, peace.
Candy corn with salted peanuts is the only way to eat them.
I'm not sure that combination even exists here lol. What part of Canada are you in? You're lucky you have Tim Hortons, their caramel coffee is tremendous
Look into Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak, and also Within The Woods by Tony Urban from some good fun spooky readings, peace.
Thank you! I’ve heard of Hidden Pictures but not The Woods…it’s sounds great!
Thank you for the recommendations. Check out The Relic by Douglas Preston as a great creature feauture story, peace.
I’ll look it up, thank you!
Speaking of creatures, have you ever seen the original Dawn of the Dead? I grew up 5 minutes away from the mall it was shot in. Pittsburgh is a huge horror town. I could recommend spooky books from dusk til dawn.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I bought a few witchy books but my next order is going to be horror novels. thanks for all your suggestions!
I don't have any witch book suggestions, but when I saw Blair Witch in the theater my friend had me convinced it was real, and I was absolutely terrified.
@@TerryMccarthy-s3r I still haven’t seen that movie
Check out In A Dark Place by Carmen Reed and Al Snedeker. The main and strongest character is a mother, and it's terrifying. I read this every October.

Wow thank you for the Dead Eleven recommendation. I was 15 in 1994 and have awesome memories. Try reading House Of Leaves, it's immersive and amazing. I look forward to more videos, you're awesome.
