Exploring Northeastern California and Klamath Falls, OR while retrieving a Bitchin’ dual snorkel…
Driving a 1965 Big Block Dodge all the way from Reno to Klamath Falls. I found a special 60’s High Performance air cleaner and went to go get it. This is the return trip. It is a continuation of the other video uploaded about 3 months ago. This 60 minute extravaganza of a Big Block odyssey would not save from my editing software. It finally did, so here it is. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I forgot my tie rod end puller was up on the shelf as well as the pitman/ball joint puller. Watch to see how it goes anyway. It is much better. The steering is more correct and does not pull during braking or bumps.

    I was gonna align it with my $400 kit. Found 1 inch of tow in, which should be about 1/8th to 1/16th ! So I just re-set the tow and I’ll see how it handles and the tires wear. Setting the camber and the caster takes a lot more time.

      It gets between 14 and 12 miles per gallon. I spend lots on gasoline. I budget for that. It burns 87 octane ‘cause it has 8.2 to 1 compression. I get money and I miles of smiles. Cheers

    • @Monaco-BuilditFixitDriveitEver
      @Monaco-BuilditFixitDriveitEver 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. I had mine burn through too . If it’s in the system grounding the wrong part will burn it really fast. You can solder a new wire about the same size, or Actually solder in a spade fuse of about 10 or 15 amps. I put one in which was replaceable. I means you can just put in another fuse the next time you burn it out in testing. It.’s hard ti fit it in, but its doable.

    Hey there , I have a 1965 Monaco (Canadian Version) one of 2068 there abouts if memory is close , of Canadian built Monacos. I bought her a few years back , it was all original right down to the 65 shocks , factory Premium car , BB 383 Hp 727 console car . Taken her apart past few years and been Re n Re everything myself. Owned many Dodge/Plymouths when I was a teenager, then worked for a Dodge dealership after graduating at the beginning of the 80s , bought my first 69 Dodge Charger triple Green 318 console car @15 for $950. and of course Dukes of Hazzard was my favorite show . Found you by suffering here , I subscribed ... wish I could afford a B body again but just to expensive these days ... so C Body it is .. Cheers...

    Cool. I think I found the correct retainer for the adjustment somewhere on line, but I left the home made one on mine. I had a 70 roadrunner in the 80’s. I kept it for 11 years. Went 30 years without a big block. Now I drive this baby everywhere! Cheers

    Update: that tranny was used and after driving it about 45,000 miles it started slipping in 3rd gear at full throttle. I had a 1970 torqueflite used which I put in instead. That started leaking out the front seal really bad so I rebuilt this 1966 tranny in the video. I bought a couple books and the 65 service manual. The ‘66 tranny is still shifting strong 20,000 miles later. I did good! The ‘70 is toast for now it finally overheated the second gear clutches. I never built it, just ran it, so that’s not unexpected. So after 4 years and 75,000 miles the 66 Torqueflite is in the big block Monaco and running strong with this neutral switch you see installed in this video. Cheers!

    Turns out that the wheel is 5 on 4.75. That means it was wrongly boxed. It will fit a Chevy. I gotta return it. AND…. Just today (3/11/24) I purchased new rear air shocks. The old ones were new 4 years and 60,000 miles ago. They started to fail and I failed to catch that… I drive this car so much it seemed too early. So…. The shocks were almost totally the problem. The 70-80 vibration is gone and the bounce test on the fender is better and the car is more predictable and smoother. Hot Damn!!!

    Firestone is a huge scam. They damaged both of my wheels right down to the metal and didnt say anything. Went back in and had to prove my case. Ended up having to drive an hour north to another location for a manager of some sorts to look at it. They kept insisting their machine cant hurt wheels. Ended up making a claim and with all the back and forth they wanted me to run around and get quotes and in the end they wouldnt match the other two wheels and I ended up just having two badly scratched wheels bc I never got anywhere with them.
