The XT 250 has always been, and still is one of the all time best dual sports ever made, due to its reliability, light weight, and it’s easy to work on. I’m more of a Honda guy myself, but I don’t discriminate. If something is good/great I will admit it. One of the best dual sports I ever owned was my 1986 XR250L. Id give anything to have my old bike again. Yes, Today, I own a $7k 2021 dual sport. And yeah it’s nice, but I didn’t need it. It’s just that it was easier for me to pay a note, because I was approved for a low interest rate, rather than to search the country for my old XR, or one just like it, that’s in great shape, and come out of pocket $2K. You got a deal for $1k! You don’t see that everyday... I’ll have my newer one paid for in a couple of months, and I’ll be looking for a second dual sport that is used, but in decent shape. It might even be a XT250. Or it might be a TW200. Whatever I can find, that I know is an all time great bike.. I heard that they quit making the XT250 not too long ago. I don’t know why Yamaha would had done that. Especially if they haven’t replaced it with anything... One of the only things you might be missing out on is another high speed gear. But it’s not a necessity. Everything that my new bike has, that the old ones don’t is just a luxury, not a necessity.
