ScriptRunner Cloud - Archive unused projects
This is now focused on cloud environment. It does the same as for the data center but you need to define the number of days that represent when a certain project hasn't been active and to be added to the archive list.

Thanks for creating this, @Jira Bro! FYI, I didn't hear any music in the background ...
No problem bro! OBS gets cranky sometimes
So ironic this comes up bc I just came across a field called Goals that had an unknown type and when I added it to a screen it didn’t show up. I assumed it was some sort of Jira system field tied to a process like plans for example.

Can we do this in cloud script runner or how can we do this via automations
@@shaikazeez4655 On the cloud, cannot be done since the ScriptRunner is different. As for automation, even if you try to put everything correctly, there is no action for archiving the project. It has to be done manually.
Can we put button in newly created app example Hello world app and in that button when we click on it it should open pop up that should have any url that has to redirect to other app is it possible can you pls tell us how it can be done and what are all the process we should do

Thank you very much for this video :)
I'm on Win 10 and it didn't run the command prompt (from 2:31 on your video). Any reasons as to why it might be?

Thanks for the video bro.
Hi bro, A request for mine. Could you make a video like how to setup Jira Data center instance in our own PC. Now I am using Jira cloud instance for all.
@@asmathbasha2760 Hi, I have one of those videos, but this is for Linux: th-cam.com/video/lEg7saQpsoI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8gcFrPu4TpvcmDO1
@@JiraBro ok bro.. I will check out this video.. Thanks for your support
this Application is noob
Nice video bro !!
@@asmathbasha2760 Thanks bro! Appreciate it!
Great to hear things are easier when you use HAPI!
Thank you for the video. Quick question: Can i enable the linked issue on the portal when client open a new ticket? It seems the fields is hidden when iam trying to add it on the request form and i can't enable it.
This happens when for a specific field there's an option "Use preset value and hide from portal" checked. You should uncheck that option. More information can be found here: support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/what-are-hidden-fields-and-unsupported-fields-in-request-types/
Looks great! And do you know the File Field App, where you can have different file custom fields in your Jira tickets? It's for DC only.
That sounds interesting! You tested that app?
@@JiraBro More than testing, in fact it's my App ;-)
@@jiratrix Well done sir! Which language did you use to develop it? :)
@@JiraBro well, my team implemented it, I think in java.
That's a good idea for another video!
Glad to see the Jira API is as easy to use at the Trello one! Hadn't really thought about just using Postman for executing these jobs (I usually just use it for testing haha) but that's smart!
Postman is really great tool to use for APIs. I find it to be easy as well!
i have found HAPI to be very helpful when the basic Jira Conditions or Post Functions can't do what I need them to do.
Your Jira are cloud or data center version? Data center have project page too?
Hello! This is for the cloud yes. These links might help you out: confluence.atlassian.com/enterprise/integrate-confluence-cloud-with-jira-server-1101925671.html elements-apps.com/jira-and-confluence-integration/
im a student i wann get certified in this , do they offer any discount or scholarship to student i cant find on the website
www.atlassian.com/solutions/survey/academic-license-request#/ try this one. There is a 50-75% discount.
Hey Bro, I like that you have a clear and structured way of explaining the topic. Unfortunately, it is kinda hard to stay focused because it sounds like you got the TV running in the back or a bunch of people are talking outside 😂 If you didn't already use "Noise Reduction" in your video editing tool, I would recommend "Davinci Resolve (free). This would definitely help 😊
After the migration the look and feel of the new site will be the same as the previous one? You can start creating tickets with the same name as it was before?
Of course! There are slight differences between the server and the cloud version but they are slim and you will get used to to the new interface.
@@JiraBro it’s a cloud to cloud migration that we want to perform but with tickets more than 7yo
Thank you for making this. I have a question. If I select current assignee in the security level, and apply that level to an issue, then only the assignee will be able to see the issue?
Issue level can be applied to the current assignee. From the moment you apply the security to the created issue, it will be seen by your assignee. Short answer, yes.
First time i see Jira getting ideas implemented for so long in other tools , for ex. Azure DevOps. Intresting. Its about time Jira came with builtin dashboards
It's not easy to manage all of the requests that are coming from different channels
Quality content❤
Thanks!
hello, how about adding details to the description field?
Do you mean profiling the Description field with text? Since Description is a system field, you can create a custom field where you will edit the context.
@@JiraBro example when you create an request theres a Summary field which is the title then the description which i can put the details of the request in JQL form I got error when I input "description": "userid111",
Next time maybe you should read up on the features before recording the video. The advantage of the Top level planning is that we can view and monitor the progress of an initiative across several projects. As a demo, you could create 2-3 projects that all share the same initiative and show the results from there. Good luck with your channel! 👍🏻
Thanks for heads-up!
Bro your mic is insanely good, off topic but i had to point that out xD
Not sure if you were sarcastic or not, but thanks bro!

what if we have the same project created in the cloud with some issues in it. what is the best practice in this scenario?
Few things: 1. Check for duplicates - check if any issues in cloud already exist in server 2. Migrate and merge - if there are some duplicates, migrate server issues and do the merging 3. Consider renaming the projects 4. Inform users - your users should know about this
what if we have same user with same unique email address existed in cloud before the migration?
You can do several things: 1. Identify duplicate emails - you can use the migration assessment in server to see if there are duplicates 2. Update email addresses - before migration make sure to update the email addresses to avoid the conflicts 3. Merge users - you can merge the migrated user with the existing user Disadvantages: - Migrated user loses their independent login for cloud -Possible manual update for user groups or permissions
Amazing work please carry on
Thank you so much! 😎
So a label that is never needed beyond the scope of the project, might just create a component instead. Since everyone can add labels, how do you balance between components and labels ? I've seen so many labels created, some with spelling mistakes so there are multiple labels that point to same thing, or differernt ways to express the same idea like "Q2" and "Quarter 2", which then means creating a query to give items across projects with a filter on label cant really be "trusted". ive also seen components and labels that have the same values, which just makes managing this even harder. Can there be like "mandatory" components of labels ?
It is a good idea to have these two separated. To have a mandatory component for a label in my opinion shouldn't be practiced.
This video makes no sense... How can you say it is a useful feature when you didn't even make it work?
Greetings! At the time this video was made, the feature was still in beta phase.
Thanks for covering this ! So now we have true portfolio management and builtin OKRs - Objectives and Initiatives, and more aligned with SAFE Agile practices
You are welcome!
Leadership, also means to be bold enough to say: "we need to migrate out of Jira" Im going to face a 2 year project of migrating to cloud that was delayed over and over as there was too much "yes you can" that created a very complex customization path and drifting away from common standards. BTW, I always promote stopping the use of the term "soft skills", they are all human skills so nothing soft about them. Thanks for the video.
I completely agree with you. There needs to be a time when to say no.
Interesting changes, definitely more modern. Wonder how much resistance im going to see from our users ;)
Hopefully not much!
Works for me today and I think I did the same steps as you. Maybe in April, it was not working properly yet. New features often don't work great in Jira. Maybe it will work for you now?
Glad to hear it worked out for you, I will test it today for sure.
How do you setup or handle portal access for internal non licensed users and also external users that just need to see one portal? Just curious to see how others have handled this
For Jira Service Management there are two types of users: customers and agents. For customers, the license is free of charge. External users can be added when you go to the Project Settings > Customer permissions - from there you will see the option "update the customer access settings", you will see the section Portal access where there is an option "Allow customers to create accounts" below that there is a checkbox which needs to be checked: Customers can access and send requests from the portal without logging in. Save the changes and voila!
Hmm so as an end user, they will need to navigate to different sites to reach a teams service portal? Or am I misunderstanding something
Hi! All of the help centers will be manageable on one site.
Thank you JiraBro! We've added this clip to our channel.
Thanks!
Nice work, thanks for the review!

No problem!
Hello... I like it. But is there a way to add labels to a page? It seems to me that the whole thing is still very limited
Hi there! Good question! Sadly, no. Labels cannot be added. This feature is all about making the hyperlinks more powerful.
@@JiraBro but imagine, on this way you could embed files from sharepoint etc and handle this documents like pages... e.g.filter by label macro...
Great video. What happens to the source data after a migration? is everything still there?
Thanks! Yes, all of the projects are staying on server.

What happens when a trial license expires?
You would need to generate a new license
If you are looking for certifications to become a Jira Admin, you are putting the cart before the horse. Certifications are important, do not get me wrong, but you should be seeking them after you've been a Jira Admin for a while, as you will need many skills you develop on the job to answer the questions. You're best case scenario is to become a Junior Admin on an existing team within a company you are already in. This gives you the chance to learn on a live production system under the tutelage of a more experienced Admin. As you learn and grow, you can start taking on more responsibilities. I cannot agree with @Jira Bro enough on the soft skills. Those are a critical foundation you need to have, and I would not consider a Junior Admin who didn't have those already in place. Remember, too, that if the advice seems a little limited, it's because it is. When I started with Atlassian tools, being a full time Jira Admin wasn't a thing. If you managed Jira and Confluence, it was only a part of your job, and you'd be expected to either manage other tools or do it on the side of some other job you were doing within the company. That's what I mean by "We didn't choose the Jira LIfe" - most of us accidentally fell into this role while trying to do something else. I think those at university and graduating now are the first people to actually try to achieve becoming a Jira Admin straight off, so there isn't a lot of practical advice on how to do it. That being said, networking is key. First, learn the basics of how to administer Jira. Have your own test instance and experiment. Come up with unique use cases, and document how you went about creating a Jira Project to address that unique case. Then go to the Community Events. Post on the Atlassian Community. Agree to give talks about what you've been studying or any unique projects you've been doing. Yes, giving talks is scary, as is putting yourself out there. Still, Get your name out there. If you are skilled enough, a Jira Admin will take notice, and if they have the need, might help you into a role. But first you have to make yourself stand out. ~TJG
Appreciate the comment and the opinion of course!
