Rui Touareg Hotel Review

Just a short (4 minutes) review of the hotel in Cape Verde. Apologies that there is no footage, but for the curious they were quite brown and plain. One other thing to note is that the plumbing isn't what it should be and the stink from each room toilet can be quite overpowering at times

Good video. Have subscribed. Using your comments to catch the attention of @Jameswood1996 who has a vlog on the same bike. James. Your channel is set up as a Kids app channel so we cannot comment or get notifications.
Thanks for the review. Can you comment on the sizing?
Really wierd but majority of workers in riu touareg hotel treat white guests with hospitality and a big smile but are very hostile to non whites yet they are black. Really bizarre the white worshipping and racism. Self hate at its best mate😮😮😮😮😮
Loved the stats and great honesty.
Thank you for sharing this. I was just diagnosed with a slightly different version of what you had where one left side vein is draining into another. Recently my heart rate has been very high, just resting it's anywhere from 80-90 and walking up a flight of stairs can push that to 160. I'm still working with doctors and hope that I'm a candidate for surgery. I've been very curious about what type of recovery I can expect and this video has been a great help. I didn't know that I've been dealing with this my whole life. My heart rate was always high whenever I exerted myself. I didn't think anything was wrong since I was born this way. A few years ago I was running between 40-50 miles a week and then I started to get more fatigued than normal. I thought I was over training so I cut back and that led me to stop entirely. Earlier this year I finally started making efforts to get back to hiking and running. Some of my hikes were unexpectedly difficult, but I just thought it was because I was overweight and out of shape. I told myself just be consistent and the fitness will return. However it didn't and I kept just trying small hikes and walking to slowly build my fitness. About a month ago I did another hike and it felt like an ultramarathon. My heart rate got into the upper-180s multiple times and I'd have to stop for minutes for it to drop to the 140's so that I could continue. That's when I knew something was wrong and made a doctors appointment. That led me to now where just last week I learned about my condition. While this situation isn't easy, your video gives me lots of hope that if I'm a candidate for surgery I'll be able to regain the fitness that I once had - and that means a lot to me. Thank you
What a story! I hope you get your surgery and it makes a big difference
Danke ich nehme L und bin 176 cm
Great video nice to see it up close 😊 fairplay you made it.
Yeah, just!
What is the total weight of this build?
Good question, I was keen to know too. So with the addition of an out front mount, two bottle cages and swapping the Bella Italia saddle for a Brooks C17 it comes out at exactly 9kgs. Take those additions and amends out and I reckon your looking at 8.75kgs
That’s funny about the saddle I move back when climbing and forward at speed on the flat
Oh no! Such bad luck. A snapped chain is bad enough but to kill your derailleur at the same time is just awful. But we’ll done for trying and a game effort nevertheless - I particularly enjoyed the bit about being outside a pub in Hungerford at 3am. Ah yes, that all night cycling feeling…. I got here from your comment on my channel, thanks for that and hope you have better luck next time!!
Hi, What's temperature range? Can it be useful below 0 or should i take C5 winter jacet?
So having had this a lot longer now I would suggest this is good down to something close to -2°C. That would be with a long sleeve base layer and an ordinary cycling shirt. I wouldn’t go much higher than +6°C but then I do tend to work up a sweat pretty easily
@@thefairweathercyclist6521 Thanks for answer!
Great review thanks. Do you think this could fit as a mid layer under a different jacket? I'm trying to combine this as a mtb jacket and to add some wind protection and warmth to my motorcycle riding gear for the cooler days?
You could yes, but to be honest there may be no need. The Gore Jacket is good down to close to freezing with just a base layer underneath. The Goretex material also provides a very good wind resistance
Good video thanks. I'm considering this and would be coming from a Giant Defy which is classic endurance stuff, so also had the race/endurance fears. Nice to hear some real-world anecdotes over just stem & stack measurements which don't tell you much unless you've ridden 100 bikes with different geometries.
Looking at your video at 3:44 it appears you may have had the same issue as me, with the seat post sliding down if you hit bumps. Those tell tell white scratches are the giveaway. You have to over tighten the clamp to stop it happening. I have contacted Ribble about this but, as have yet, received no reply. I also replaced my saddle for a Fizik Antares R1 Open Carbon rail. The saddle it comes with is a little to small and decidedly grippy which does indeed keep you planted lol.
Yes, good spot. Only on the 2 mile test ride I went on when I first had the bike did this happen. I made sure of that!
hi, nice review and thankyou. How tall are you? The saddle height just looks way, way extended to me but appears you have no issue with it?
6’3” with an inside leg of 34”. In a word, tall. I did think I would have an issue but it’s a lot more comfortable than I thought
@@thefairweathercyclist6521 thanks, I'm exactly the same height with inside leg. Do you find the bike copes well with rough surfaces? I read some reviews it was relatively firm, borderline harsh, but again seems you didn't find that to be the case? Thankyou again.
@@ronanm04 I’ve only done 250 miles on it and it’s still under wraps during winter. Yes it’s stiff but no more so than any other carbon road bike. I would only go on anything other than road surfaces unless I absolutely had to. The winter where I live seems to have produced some damage to the roads so when the bike gets back out there it’s going to be interesting
❤
Nice footage. I've never seen London so quiet as at the start! Rural Surrey looked good in the sunshine.
I think I set off at 6am on that one and yes, it was a lovely day. Very flat course but nice to wiz around the streets of central London at an average of 20 mph
is the slr worth it over the sl
I wouldn't know because I've only experienced the SL. The only difference I can see in the SLR is that it comes with a better grade of carbon in the frame and a press fit rather than threaded bottom bracket. These features were not important to me so I went with the SL
This is literally the exact bike I ordered earlier this week aside from I went for the DB56 rather than the DB40. Bit nerdy I know but how is the freehub sound on the DB40’s!?
I’d say a little noisy but I’ve heard a lot louder. Not embarrassingly noisy when your freewheeling down a quiet street
@@thefairweathercyclist6521 Ah good, love a nice loud freewheel! Are you still pleased with the bike?
@@Lexicaltje absolutely. It’s in hibernation for the winter but really looking forward to getting back on it in the spring. I think I rode it just enough this year to know it’s going to be an enjoyable 2023!
@@thefairweathercyclist6521 great! I’m upgrading from a Trek Domane AL which is a much more relaxed geometry so I’m glad when you said the Ribble was really comfortable. Hope I find the same.
@@Lexicaltje So do I 😀
Hi nice video. I got a medium 105 di2 version a few weeks ago. What you mentioned about the saddle not allowing you to move is exactly what I have experienced didnt twig it was the saddle was thinking it was my new winter clothes. Think I might switch saddles for the one on my previous bike. Thanks.
Hi . When did you order it and how long did it take to arrive. Thanks .
Exactly 2 months from ordering to delivery. I was ok with that because they indicated it would be longer. Probably quicker because it’s pretty standard
Thanks. Ordered mine Feb 22 and still not delivered. Hope its worth the wait.
hi what is the brand of the wahoo mount ?
I can't say I remember. I just checked my Amazon orders and it seems it's unavailable. The description, if it helps, is as follows: Bicycle Computer Mount for Road Bike Integrated Handlebar Light Weight Aluminium Alloy Bicycle Computer Mount for Wahoo Elemnt Elemnt Mini Elemnt Bolt
@@thefairweathercyclist6521 ok many thanks for the reply . just pre ordered the endurance slr ..............excited ! 😁😁
That's a heck of a journey back from major surgery. On TH-cam and Strava I've seen you bag some great rides - was the London overnighter the one with the broken chain / rear mech? Great stuff, keep it going.
Yeah, London-Cardiff would have been 162 miles but because it’s largely flat it’s not as hard as it seems. It’s the hilly stuff that gets you and living in Wales, they’re unavoidable. I’m just glad I was able to recover to a point where I was able to achieve the same level of fitness. Oh, and that London-Cardiff is unfinished business. That’s next years goal sorted!
Looks great I ordered an Endurance SL R Disc today
Which color scheme?
hi. can you tell me the size of the bike?
Xtra Large. I’m 6’3” and I used the bike set up tool in the Ribble showroom to ensure it was a good fit
Looks great. Waiting for my AL Disc Endurance to arrive...
Here’s hoping you love it when it gets there
Glad you like the bike looks lovely. I had the same thought as you, thinking it may not be an endurance bike. As you say she is low at front, but you say it is very comfy anyway .
Rotten luck with that kind of mechanical failure. I once had an Ultegra crank snap whilst out of the saddle ...painful landing and a walk + scoot home. Luckily I was only 25 miles from home, not as far out as you were. Glad it all ended safely with the train ride home and hope you're back on the road again.
Nicely compiled - great vistas, wide open spaces, hill roads, good weather, and a few essential pit-stops.
The Staircase looked like a real grind - props for setting up a ride-past shot on that slope. Those descents looked like fun - all-in-all a real corker of a day.
Smashing ride with superb views - the shot where you were soaring above the sunlit plain was wonderful. Nearly 12,000 ft of ascent, that's a quality route !
I think we both have the benefit of living in great cycling areas
That's a whopper of a ride covering some beautiful countryside (I worked near Newport for a while but I was running in those days, so I don't know the area as a cyclist ) - weather looked good for your ride, the early sun on the Severn was beautiful. A ride to be proud of here.
I had to miss it this year, but hope to see you in 2023.
Hi! How tall are you ? I could not catch it in the video.
6’ 3” (around 190 cm I think)
@@thefairweathercyclist6521 thanks for your answer. Are you using Large size? isn´t it too tight?
It’s a large. I was going to go XL but they were out of stock. I’ve got a slim chest but plenty of blubber around my middle. It’s a little tight on me but certainly not too tight, feels comfortable
How low a temp could you go with this jacket?
Very well timed question. I was out today with a long sleeve base layer and a short sleeve cycling shirt underneath. No problem at all and it was 3°C. Even had to unzip on the hills. I would suggest -2°C would’ve your low limit
@@thefairweathercyclist6521 thanks
