unapologetic yarn addict : )
how to block acrylic yarn (without a steamer!) | beginner-friendly tutorial 🧶✨
I’ll be showing you a beginner-friendly way to block acrylic yarn-no steamer required! Blocking helps your crochet projects keep their shape and look polished, but when it comes to acrylic yarn, the approach is a bit different.
Why? Unlike cotton yarn, acrylic is synthetic-meaning it’s made from plastic fibers, so it needs heat to hold a new shape, while cotton only needs moisture. I’ll walk you through each step of blocking acrylic, with or without a blocking board, and using easy-to-find tools. This technique is perfect for crochet or knitting beginners working with acrylic yarn!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- your crochet piece to block (I’m using granny squares)
- a blocking board / foam board with pins
- a hairdryer
- a spray bottle with water
Let’s get blocking and give your crochet pieces that pro look! Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and comment with your crochet questions! 🧵😊

Making me CRAVE taro tea at midnight is criminal ;-; the squares are so cute tho!!
sorry😭 I know the feeling I love taro, thank you!!!
It's such a pretty color! That paired with black would be a great spiral top for Halloween (which has past but yk..that's fine lol)
Omg yess the black would contrast so well! Early ideas for next year lol
@PixelStitch mhm mhm! Lol
❤❤❤❤❤ so cute your face
@@viewuniverse3806 aw thank you!
Oh my god! That's so nice, I need to learn to make that for my girlfriend! Would you happen to make tutorials and give instructions on what to buy with precise references?
Yes I’m thinking about making a pattern so people can make it themselves ☺️
That's super cute and adorable 🙈 love it🎀✨
@@serinoo.hannie thank you!!!💕💕
I love it❤ Can you teach us how you make the pixel art with ipad, I also have procreate. I wanna do some minecraft monsters head like that ❤
@@cee8226 adding that to the to do list ☺️ ill lyk once the tutorials up!
@PixelStitch Omg thanks!!!
STOPPPP- I LOVE YOUR HAIR IT LOOKS LIKE A CHARACTERS FROM THIS SHOW AND I LOVE ITT
@@L3ighaaaa THANK YOUUU which show???
Why u block before attaching them together ? Is it better ?
Yes! It makes the corners sharper so when you sew them together they don't look rounded, it would be difficult to block the corners of the squares once they're attached
that shade of purple is so cute!!!!
im obsessed with it!
I too am a jelly gyal
jelly gyals unite
Im also making a cardigan mine uses bigger squares and has a mix of daisies but I have 178 squares I need to make in total I have 8 done so far 😅
@@Cant_Stop_Creating oh wow! Is it a full length one? The daises must take a lot longer lol
@PixelStitch it is yes and the daisies do take longer but it's worth it!
Yes!! I love watching your videos of you crocheting at work 😅
@@CamilleMakesEdits haha thank you!!!
TH-cam knows what I need, hahah :) Thanks for the video!✨
Happy to help! Thanks for commenting ☺️
Gurl you are so pretty and hardworking. I am already obsessed
@@sezn02 this made my day you have no idea thank you so much 💕💕
@PixelStitch I'm so glad to know that 🤭. Keep moving forward ✨
I love your work very much ❤️❤️
Thank you so much! 🫶

Pixel stitch crochet in her TH-cam era
gotta stay on the grind 💪🏻
The cardigan is gonna be BEAUTIFUL
@@OneLuckyLizard Aw thank you!! I am CROSSING MY FINGERS cause ain’t no way I’m wasting 204 granny squares
@PixelStitch fr! I made 30 5in by 5in swatches from a cardigan just to not like the color combo and never finish the rest 😭 but I gave them to my friend so we'll see what happens there lol
Can you tell me how to end the one piece cleanly
@@sezn02 I used the super solid granny square tutorial by Adore Crea Crochet here on TH-cam! I end the squares with a slip stitch into the fourth chain of the first chain 4 of the round. I hope that makes sense, but the video I mentioned does a great job of showing you how :)
I love the thing over your hair. Just wondering what is it called and did you make it?
@@Goose-k3x thank you! It’s called a crochet bandana and yes I made it using the scalloped bandana tutorial by Passioknit Kelsie here on TH-cam!
Purrrr

@@cocobeans7832 thank you!!! Much more of them to come lol
Ohhhh you are so cool for that 😂 i love you literally
Lmaoooo <3 I was just goofing off
Squares
@@_Anomali yeah!
Wait is that why blankets are crocheted in squares?! To make blocking easier?
@@edwardhisse2687 I mean that could definitely be a factor! I think it’s easier to get through making a bunch of granny squares than crocheting a giant rectangle personally lol
The drought of high quality crochet content has finally ended
The hand!! How!!??? Also ✨Welcome Back!✨
Thank you✨!!! Lots of guess work and time I suppose LOL
@PixelStitch you suppose 🤣 lol
Shesss. BAAACKKK
best believe ! ! !
How do you make it a circle??? Do you slip stitch into the first stitch?
@@celestialblock exactly! The base is just a ton of rounds of yarn under single crochet
@PixelStitch thanks❣️
Awwww this is actually cuteee!! I really need to learn how to cross stitch lol.
@@Enny-chan thank you!!! It comes in handy but I can’t say I doing it like it better than crochet lol
Rather like and share amd save your video then the womans who is taking money from people for some misinformation 😂😂😂❤❤❤
I have no boba flavors cause I haven't tried it but I love the color you chose for the bandana!
@@OneLuckyLizard well I highly recommend Thai tea if you ever get the chance to go to one! Thank you!
I need to make one of the fishes, the Tilapia is calling me
I used to always crochet at work when I was a bobarista 😂
@@cozycakes42 BOBARISTA I love that omg
@@PixelStitch Tehe 🤭🤣
I agree with the comment above mine I also like the black yarn idea but I don't think a lace would be comfortable yk? Just being that exposed would feel weird on me but if you feel like it would probably look amazing!...this comment wasn't much help but 😂
@@OneLuckyLizard I might test out the lace up with black ribbon but we’ll see, i agree it feels exposing lol, I appreciate the input!!
You can use green but in a different shade it will work too
@@serinoo.hannie like a darker green maybe?
Lol the drama with people saying how she (the patterns creator ) didn’t specify it was cross stitch on the original pattern😂
Literally working on a design for one like this now, same inspiration and all ❤😂
What yarn u use? what's good for tote bag? I love the sunflower tote bag u made ❤
@@cee8226 thank you! I used all acrylic yarn, most of the colors were Caron Simply Soft in the colors soft pink, fuchsia, woodland heather, autumn maize, and country blue. I used a random navy blue and dark brown I had in my scrap pile sorry I don’t remember the brand
Ah yes the unnamed yarn XD for me it's always the yarn I end up running out of mid-project and then I have scour the stores and internet to find the brand lol
im so afraid of that!! I have to find smaller projects or make scrappy ones lol
@@PixelStitch fr! You could do a scrap sweater maybe?
I love that!!! Can you post the pattern?
@@Khloe-q4o I currently don’t have one lol lemme get working on that 😅
so underrated!! ur so pretty tooo keep it up! :D
@@ZI.LLY_g00ber aww this is such a sweet comment thank you so much!!
