Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 at MKNA (?) with a fool at the controls.
Silly me, I totally didn't look at the island that I chose as my takeoff location. This island is south of Mexico, and it has the ICAO code MKNA, but I couldn't find it in the lookup so maybe I was "looking at the wrong thing" :-)
This is an approx. 8 minute flight in a Cessna 172, with the usual waffling commentary. I was pleased that the game didn't crash, and neither did the aircraft, though it was close (I fly as if I'm playing F/A-18 Interceptor).

I plan to fly a Cessna 172 on the old Flight Sim 2020, and then compare it to the performance and look of Flight SImulator 2024. Things do not go to plan, though - do they ever? Warning: contains .. words. Some people may be offended by my silly British swearing.

Destination: Kenley Aerodrome, south-east UK. Runway: 20. As usual, I approach the destination by reducing the throttle significantly, as I realise that the airspeed is too high. I manage to land the Flea almost on the runway, but I forget that it has no brakes, so collision with a tree occurs. Once again, I apologise for the nonsense emitted by myself: "And I think that we're going to... die."...

I found a pocket radio - unused in about 40 years - and was originally bought at a small shop in Switzerland. At the time I thought that it was amazing, as I'd never seen a radio as small as this, and the sound output was incredibly loud for its size. It just takes two AAA cells! In this video, I test it. I apologise for repeated use of the phrase 'going over'.

This is a festive musical toy that lights a dim red, and shows a Christmas tree with snow gently falling - or it would if I didn't position it so close to the camera that it's out of focus. Also, the LR44 cells are on their last legs, so expect a lot of discordant squeaking.

My westward flight continues, as I pilot a Cessna Skyhawk over the northern counties of England and into Scotland. It was to be directly west from Hull, but the heading drifted a bit. Contains the occasional mild expletive.

My great-grandmother had one of these when I was a child - well, not the exact same Gorham bird statue, but it played the same tune. I have been looking for this for 20 years, she accidentally broke it in her late years and threw the mechanic away because she thought I was "too old for music boxes anymore". She was really remorseful when I told her it was one of my fave childhood toys that I wanted to share with my own children some day. Thank you! Is this the first comment that I've ever had? It might be. [Edit: no, but it's the first that I have replied to for at least 10 years] Thank you for your support. With my flights, landing takes second place to whether my tea is getting cold and if the passengers arrive at all, it's a miracle. I know, the whole ground avoidance/"pull up! Pull up for goodness' sake!" thing. I never realise how low I'm flying.

As of this comment (7 months later), I still haven't learned. One reason why you may hear chewing is that the microphone is one of those cheap headset things that have to be totally close to my mouth to pick up speech properly. Otherwise, it sounds tinny.

That, I could. I was probably involved in some complex project and it may have been light when I started, but darkness descended during the procedure and I was so 'into it' that I couldn't be bothered to get up and turn the light on.

Not a patch on the old Flight Simulator days bay ;) Real time trans Atlantic flights, followed by a bit of F/A-18 Interceptor. They should have made a merger of those two. Would have been instantly banned.

Seven years for a reply - not bad, for me! At the time of writing this reply, I no longer have the Altair Micro - I traded it up for an 'Altairduino' (see David Hansel's projects on Github). Regarding the breakage, that may have been the reset switch not working, which was due to a broken track that I accidentally created while installing it. I'm so ham-handed with the screwdriver, I sometimes score through tracks and don't notice.
I have no idea of the significance of what I just watched, but that's my problem. I do like the fact you have programmes called "pizza" and "bagels" on there though :)
Those are standard demo programs, supplied with the computer. Both are puzzles, as I recall.
I remember I a time when I was demonstrating the Acorn / Next Technology CD-ROM accessory to a large group of Local Education Authority leaders (this was in 1990 when no one really knew what a CD-ROM was) and the Desk Duck started to quack and swim across the large projected screen! Luckily the smiles from the audience showed they loved the Desk Duck ( I worked for Next Technology in Cambridge - we developed the CDFS for the Archimedes ) The only simlilar app I've seen "windows dancer" that came with Windows XP media centre -various animated dancers along the task bar.
+David Bradbury Hehe.. I can imagine that the sight of the duck blown-up to a huge size must have been funny. The question is, did the sound of the quack echo? So obsessed with this am I, that I have analysed the sound of a quacking duck in detail. This showed that the quack does echo, although the echo is very short. (I must have a lot of free time on my hands..)

You're welcome. One of these days I'd like to power the 630MP up again, but I'm a bit scared to at present. It's moved about 200 miles north and has been bumped about as I moved it into my current flat, so I am wary of a power-up without testing everything first.

You need to see both natural horizons at sea level,a mountain view would probably have the horizon blocked by other peaks,and a high buliding blocked by other buildings,hills in the distance etc,so in those places it would not count.
