Coffee for me, bit of honey and milk thanks. I used just normal spray adhesive for my 3 layer silver bubble and had no issues. Bit strange that. That covering will look great 👍
Thanks, @UK-Blue! Coffee with honey and milk-nice choice! 😊 I’ll definitely keep pushing forward. That’s good to know about the spray adhesive working for your setup. Maybe I’ll give it another go. Really appreciate your encouragement-glad you think the covering will look great! 👍
just a thought before trying to stick anything on the roof key the paintwork and wipe with panel wipes ?
yes I will do, that's a good tip
Great tip about glue 😂

Hiya,I haven't watched your previous videos yet or indeed all of this one,but have you put a vapour barrier in ? Have a look for (I think his name is Greg Virgo videos.) he covered it a few years back & he knows what he's doing as been in construction all his life :) good luck
Hiya @adidasmanuk! Yes, I’ve been watching and learning about vapour barriers and decided to test one wall without it to see how it performs. I’m experimenting as part of the budget build, so it’s great to get input like yours-I'll definitely look up John Virgo’s videos, thanks for the tip and the encouragement! 😊
@jean683-y8k it's Greg virgo :) knew John didn't sound right lol had to probe the grey matter :)
I just watched him his good I watched the bucket video
Walls need to breath, Iv never used a vapour barrier and never had rot issues! A good air flow front to back is all that's needed!
We've been building campervans for 15 years and have never fitted a vapor barrier.. you don't need one. A lot of Greg's advice is bad... really bad. A vapour barrier will trap moisture
I am going to go there. It looks great place 👌
You should!
Grate tips..... Thanks 👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Good profile skillz!👍
Thanks 😁the heater fitted wall be done today now roof and ideas
that does not work I am restoring my transit which had been done that way the cold from the van panels went through the thermo wrap and condensation formed on the inside cuasing the insulation to get wet then rot the ply panelling Im now using Dodo mat which solves the problem then recycled insulation followed by thermo wrap then the ply panels just trying to help as I had the same problem with a merc vario van good luck
Thanks for the advice, @stevencrabtree2414! We’re doing a budget build here, so totally understand about having to work with what’s available. We might give this setup a try first, and if it doesn’t hold up, we’ll look into redoing the insulation later. Your experience is super helpful-thanks again for sharing, and good luck with your Transit restoration.
Thanks cant wait till the Next one 👍... I'm going to try and do my own van soon.. once again thank you

Id put the money from a battery cover or box into a better battery. Then just put the battery somewhere safe, out the way. Get a high amp/hr battery.... 130 amp/hr or more perhaps. 👍👍👍
Thanks, @UK-Blue! Your expertise really shows, and those are great ideas. I’ll definitely look into a high amp/hour battery-sounds like a smart investment for the setup. Appreciate the advice
Thank you .. ❤
Nice one... keep it going love watching your work ... 👍👍
Thanks so much, @crikhooah7204! I really appreciate the support. 😊 Exciting things are coming up, so stay tuned.
Glad I found your videos! I have the same transit and I’m also doing it up. Looking forward to see how yours turn out 😊 Will you be installing the skylight and fan? My next step is to install the leisure battery with led lights but need advice 😅
@jaymax4579 Thanks! 😊 It’s actually my first time working on a van, so I’m learning as I go too! I’ll be adding a skylight soon, and I’ve got the leisure battery and LED lights on the way. I’ll definitely be sharing the process, so stay tuned! Feel free to reach out if you have questions-I’m happy to help where I can. Good luck with your build.

thank you for taking time to comment have a great day
Did you install your own diesel heater?
Yes, I installed it myself, and it was much easier than I expected! It’s definitely manageable for anyone, including women-no special skills needed. 😊 If you’re considering it, I’d say go for it
@jean683-y8k thankyou think I will try it. Hopefully it will be OK.
@@emma-kp8vz the all in one is easy drill 2 holes and fit
I was very worried cutting foam with stanley knife, i was thinking don't slip and cut those gogeous legs, your doing a good job, keep it up
Thanks, @michaelholt7963 Haha, I know exactly what you mean-those foam cuts can be tricky! I made sure to take it slow and steady, no accidents here! Appreciate the encouragement and glad you’re enjoying the content. Cheers
Looks good 👍
Thanks 👍
Can I install the 8kw in my mototorhome. I thought the leisure battery could only handle 2kw. Sorry I'm new to all this.
Hi @emma-kp8vz! Yes, you can install the 8kW heater in your motorhome, but you’re right to consider your leisure battery. While 2kW heaters are often used for smaller battery setups, an 8kW unit can work if your battery has enough capacity. Generally, a 100Ah battery or larger is recommended to handle the start-up power (which is about 8-10 amps) and to keep it running without quickly draining the battery. If you have solar panels or can plug into shore power at times, that will also help keep your battery topped up. Another option is to use a separate battery just for the heater. It might sound complex at first, but with a little planning, it’s totally doable! 😊 Let me know if you have more questions-I’d be happy to help
Thankyou very much for explaining it to me
@emma-kp8vz glad I could help 😃 the heater work's

i would go down the route of 25mm or 50mm insulation board for keeping the heat in, dont use fiberglass insulation though as that holds moisture/water if it gets wet. Your biggest heat loss will be the roof of the van so i would insulate that but being as they are fiberglass you can get away with using fiberglass insulation on the upper part as it wont rust and if you want to use fiberglass insulation on the rest of the van use plastic vapor barrier on both sides of the insulation and stick it together with gum tape. Having no windows in the back of the van is okay but you can't have people travel in the back of the van without having windows, so cant put seats and belts in the back and you can't get the van reclassified as a camper van without windows.
Thanks, @rossl2544, for the detailed tips! I hadn’t thought about the moisture issues with fiberglass insulation, so using a vapor barrier is a great idea. I’ll look into 25mm or 50mm insulation boards for the best heat retention, especially for the roof area. The info on windows for reclassification is also really helpful as I plan out future updates. Appreciate the advice
@@jean683-y8k Yes the moisture issue seem to be overlooked or forgotten about by a lot of people and then you see so many vans rust from the inside out and people losing the van that they have put so much effort into building. I am not sure if DIY stores still sell it but they used to sell a plastic version of the fiberglass insulation which was better with moisture/wetter environments but your best bet for insulation would be Insulation boards really. PIR insulation boards (Cellotex, Kingspan etc) are very good at keeping the heat in but are expensive new, although there are now more and more places dealing with PIR seconds so if you can find one local to you that is always great or if not eBay maybe a good place to look for seconds or even new that someones has ordered to much and selling off cheap to get rid of it. If you struggle to find PIR insulation at a good price new or used then your next best bet is Polystyrene insulation boards which you can buy from places like wickes and its £18 a sheet for 50 x 2400 x 1200 mm which is pretty good and the conductivity value is not so much different from PIR. Polystyrene: conductivity value is 0.038 PIR: conductivity value is 0.022 both of them values are for 50mm thick insulation If you go down the route of using any type of insulation boards then when fitting them you need to cut them as tight as you can for the gap your putting them in in order to get the best performance out of the insulation so saving any old cardboard for making templates is a good idea. You can use expanding foam in any gaps that there might be but don't cut the foam back once its dried as then you lose the closed surface of the foam and it will again trap and hold moisture so instead wait for the surface to become dry enough to touch but the inside of the foam is still wet/tacky then use your fingers to push it in enough to stop it from sitting proud of the surface so you can still clover the walls with boards (using gloves for this is recommend for sure though). You can use aluminium foil tape to cover the joints but it can be expensive to buy but does protect the foam from moisture Depending on floor covering you plan to use it could very well be worth insulating the floor to although you can get away with thinner insulation on the floor but if you having vinyl flooring or tile etc it will help it to feel a little warmer on your feet, it would also be a benefit if you were going to use carpet also but you wouldn't notice as much of a difference. You can get away with 25mm insulation boards on the floor so if you have or can get some timber to make 25mm timber battens which you can bond to the floor of the van (don't screw them down otherwise you risk leaks and of course rusting around the screw holes). Places the battens all around the outside edge and then a few evenly spaced in the middle to screw the plywood flooring to and infill in between the battens with insulation. For bonding you can use a construction/grab adhesive like Evo stick sticks like, Evo stick Gripfill, Gorilla Grab adhesive etc, Just clean the painted with panel wipe, acetone where you will be bonding to so you make sure you get the best bond you can to the surface and then just apply blobs of adhesive down the length and push the timber into the adhesive and leave to cure then you are ready to infill with your insulation and then board over the top and you can screw you play wood into the timber battens to hold it in place
Celotex boards are not so great because they do not form to the vans shape and create the perfect voids for condensation
and now you stand the chance of a switched on MOT examiner failing your vehicle for a modified seat and mountings not compliant with what was fitted
I put 3 layers of the bubble stuff in my Transit. 👍 Are you going to go over all the framework with the insulation...
Thanks, @UK-Blue! Three layers of bubble insulation sounds like a solid setup. 👍 I’m definitely considering covering the framework to make sure I keep as much heat in as possible. Appreciate the insight
@@jean683-y8k Better to keep the heat out too
@SocietyX Absolutely! Keeping the heat out is just as important, especially for temperature control year-round. Insulation can work both ways to maintain a comfy space. Thanks for the tip! 👍🔥
