Solo traveler exploring world by bike and on foot
Hey! 👋 My name is Viet
A white collar office dron in his late 30's from Vietnam. Spent my best years following common path set by society. Study hard then work hard.
Shortly after turning 30 I realized i wasn't happy with my life. So I quitted smoking and started doing calisthenics.
Reaching my goal of 10 pull ups in a year taught me, that there is more in life than 9-5 work.
From that moment on, my journey towards more creative endeavours began.
In this channel, I want to overcome my fears, social anxiety and document my journey through camera lenses.
Thank you for stopping by, and don't hesitate to contact me through social media.

Brompton Last Beach Camping 🇫🇷 | Eurovelo 8 | S1-E38
In this video, you will join me along an exciting eurovelo 8 bikepacking trip as...
I’m back on the EuroVelo 8 route after two rest days in Toulouse! The night brought heavy rain, but I woke up ready to get moving. Heading to the train station, I got caught in some morning showers, though the skies cleared just in time. While waiting for my train, I reflected on Toulouse: a true hipster hub blending upper-class vibes with a backpacker population.
Back in Narbonne, it was more crowded and windy than ever. By 3 p.m., I was back on the Canal du Midi trail, a rocky and root-filled single track busy with cyclists. Despite the challenges, the scenic route offered stunning views with the canal on one side and the sea on the other.
Riding through Narbonnaise National Park was a peaceful highlight, with families enjoying long walks.
As I continued, I reached Port-la-Nouvelle, greeted by vast beaches and colorful kites on the sky-a true kite surfer's paradise!
Then route took me through remote sandy paths that challenged my loaded Brompton. Later, I hit paved roads but faced a brutal headwind that slowed progress.
I passed small seaside towns with high real estate prices. At Leucate, I noticed mountains on the horizon, marking the Spanish border.
Along the way, I spotted surprising American-style attractions, from a monster truck arena to an "American ranch."
As night fell, I camped on a quiet beach. Setting up a tent in the relentless wind was far from romantic, especially with distant lightning on the horizon.
Tomorrow, I’ll ride to the Spanish border, marking the end of my journey through France.

Amazing journey bro I wish I could join you 😅😅
Group touring would be amazing :)
why the hell did you have mac os installed with exfat, thats a windows format and should never be used for the bios

Me gustan tus vídeos en los que enseñas las ciudades así. 👍
Gracias. Las ciudades francesas son tan mágicas.
I like your video, but can you please make it a bit longer 😊
Thank you, fully noted!

Thanks, Glad you liked it.
super video
Looks like a decent camp spot what you found at the end. Hope nobody disturbed you.
Thank you, was really lucky with this spot.
I am a great fan on France but this site is expensive and too much tourist let explode the prices. Ris to the West Coast to the Atlantic EV1. The sea is nice cold and strong, the wind is everywhere and the far you come to north the prices are lower and the people are nice and friendlylike the at the rest of France. But the tourist points you can only go ther from autumn to spring. Thanks for this nice video. You have an MSR Tent, why not using the extra ropes for storm. I am sure they will withstand to 9-10 bft Last February i was at Montpellier. At summer i drove 900 km from STrasbourg (East France Alsace) to the Atlantic at La Rochelle (way north from Bordeaux)
Thanks for the tip about staking tent. Still need to practice how to do it properly. I have Big agnes copper spur and its really feels like flying away any minute :)
9:46 ¡Qué buena suerte encontrarte esto! Es algo tradicional de ese pueblo. 🍀
Fue una pelea intensa. Afortunadamente nadie resultó herido.
Yes, France has a very strong camping culture
How do you charge your Equipment?
I have a solar panel to keep phone alive. Then I carry two powerbanks to charge cameras and spare phones. I charge powerbanks on fast food stops and in hotels.
That camp site looks crowded :O but it's probably more comfortable than camping in the car park. Hope you have a good 2 nights!
Thanks. Dont get me started on how noisy it is, everyone playing loud music from their cars and free roaming kids :D.
@@VietPhan Ah, the "joys" of mass tourism :D
Love what you are doing! Succes in life, you seem to be enjoying it. If you are ever riding through belgium let me know, you have a place to stay fellow brompton owner.
Thank you! Have velo4 in my bucketlist so will do!
@@VietPhan great! good luck!
Esos pueblos son muy bonitos y el carril bici es muy bueno. 👍 Mala suerte para la paloma y buena suerte para la gaviota. 🤷🏻♀️
La costa francesa es realmente mágica. La naturaleza es despiadada.
How do you get by with money am asking as I am planning to set off bike packing too😅
Thanks for asking. One way is to save up enough to have some buffer, while stealth camp along. Other is having passive income sources to keep cashflow going in. I could get by with much less, if I didnt care about charging cameras, working remote or maintaining prefered percentage of macro nutrients
I’ve been watching all your touring videos. Great editing, keep up the good work.
Thanks for motivation!
Nice stretch of the Eurovelo. Great scenery. And a more quiet camping spot this time, at least from the looks of it :)
Quite is relative, but would exchange wilderness sounds for car traffic noise any time :D
3:44 😡 ¡No actualizan la información!
Did you just leave your bike locked outside at the intermarche?
Its always a risk and I am still not comfortable doing that, but sometimes, outside of big cities, risk of theft is quite low - I am putting my dirty pants on c bag, pack my solar panel and go inside
@VietPhan Ya it occured to me today that I can disguise it if I need to lock my brompton outside. Pretty simple if it's not loaded and can fold it down. It's actually much easier to protect your wheels too as you can lock both wheels with one U lock once folded. I've done some research in the past 2 days and found double locking is really the best strategy within cities but when bike touring I know you gotta keep weight down so it's tough. If I don't have a good plan for storage though on a trip then I won't hesitate to travel with 2 locks. I also just remembered that in most supermarkets I could just throw it in the grocery cart too if they are against me rolling it around.
yeah, loaded brompton is rollable inside supermarket if you have just front bag. If left outside, I experienced that people do notice a parked brompton and are curious.
Хорошая зарядка, супер быстрая зарядка держится всегда на первом порту хоть три подключить, остальные 2 одновременно заряжают быстро и то супер быстрый
Great idea! Can I have the size of the screws please 😁
hi Viet! We are two friend cycling and we are reaching Marseille tomorrow and then we wanna head to Genova through the coastline. I was wandering if you did something similar what was the experience regarding car traffic since it seems like the EV8 is not fully completed. Looking forward for your next episodes just had to ask 😅
Hi, thanks for asking. Its not clear if you travel east to Genova in Swiss or somewhere else. I cannot comment on route outside EV8, but coastline part from Nice to Ventimiglia is busy and narrow as most coastal roads. You will be fine though as I didn't noticed any lorries or big trucks.
Good vid my man. Stay safe out there!
Thanks, will do!
Hey Viet, When I saw your "Scammed" headline, I thought you'd been scammed out of something of high value like your Brompton. When I saw you were actually referring to a McDonald's Mcflurry ice cream, I just couldn't stop laughing! 🤣🤣🤣
Believe me, at that moment it felt hard like losing Brompton :DDD
🕶 cool McDonald's 😡 noooot cool.
Agree :D
Looks like the veggie can is plastic coated inside. Take care. If looking for water in Europe go to the cemetery of the village/town. Usually you will find a tap near to a entrance there. Thanks for sharing! :)
If you spent 25€ for McDonald you should at least try one time to eat a "plate de jour" in a regular restaurant. It will be much cheaper than the fast food and for sure much better.
Wonderful tips. Thank you. Will avoid fine cuisine cans unless its cheap lunchmeat :D. plate de jour sounds like good alternative, I am just afraid to not feel full for 25 :D
@@VietPhan At least in some places you should be able to get two times the plate de jour for 25€ ;) Nowadays they cost between 12 and 16 (I mostly traveled the south of France)
I used to use little notebooks. I still have them. No help to you obviously.
Thats neat, great idea to jot down thoughts into little notebook at end of the day.
Delighted you realised that Italian resort beaches are not the best places to stealth camp. Tried that once near Rimini and was awoken during the night by a group of young men threatening to kick my head in. I think most of those beaches are privately owned and they don`t take kindly to outsiders trespassing on their property.
Sad to hear about your experience in Rimini. Can imagine that in party area like that its even more dangerous than in peaceful family vacation towns. Did you camp with bike too?
@@VietPhan It was nearly 35 years ago. I was travelling with an old racing bike and heavy military surplus tent and sleeping bag. No cooking gear and not much more than a change of clothes, water bottle, a torch and a map of Italy. Very little decent camping gear here in Ireland at the time , and what was available was very expensive. But Italy was slower back then, so i reckon your modern trip was harder and more stressful than mine. Good luck on your travels, you are a brave and adventorous young man. Loving your videos.
Great videos. What solar panel is that? Do you still use it?
Thanks for question. Its Big Blue, bought it on Amazon and is just enough to keep phone alive on sunny day.
The 80s music was great 👍
Was positively surprised local folks grooved on oldies disco
Your channel is incredibly inspiring! I recently came across your adventures and have really enjoyed following your journey. If you ever find yourself in the very south of Belgium, let me know-I have a sturdier phone holder for you.😊
Thank you for watching. Would love to bike to belgium in the future, had fond memories of brussel and brugge.
Hi Viet, quite an adventure you're having. I'm so far only following others' adventures from the comfort of my couch. Just sharing some tips from those other bike travellers, hoping it will be useful: Keep an eye open for churches and graveyards, because they often/always have water taps (for example for watering the flowers). Also, I noticed you camped by the road twice. Maybe you can start looking out for a spot to camp 1 hour before you want to stop. And stop at the first spot that looks OK (safe and quiet). Wishing you safe and enjoyable travels with kind people along your way.
Hi, thanks for watching and tips. Those are hard earned lessons that will improve survivability :D. Its always trade off between detouring to get something with 50% chance or continuing and maybe getting lucky with 5% chance :D. As of now 1hour rule is non negotiable, as riding at night is no fun :).
A****.
Good job. Looking forward to your next episode!
Thank you for watching and motivation!
9:50 😱
😅
How do you charge your stuff!
I carry two powerbanks and a solar panel. Enough to charge phone, not enough to charge all cameras indefinitely :D
@@VietPhan oh wow on a Brompton even 🤠
So lucky 😍
the white van at 2:16 passed you way too close. hopefully that doesn't happen too often. thanks for sharing!
Vans are dangerous everywhere in the world haha. Although french vans feels more patient. Got lucky this time :)
Gracias por compartir tu viaje. Cannes me ha parecido muy bonito. Y no te puedes fiar de Eurovelo8. 😊
Thanks for watching :)
Here another one with a Mac Mini late 2014, 8 GB RAM, switched to NVME SSD and Windows 11. You won't believe how fast this this runs compared to MAC OS.
It was surprising, but worth a try. Now Mac Mini late 2014 will last for another decade and my dad is happy browsing and youtubing on it.
What is your plan for this tour? What is your final destination with your Brompton? And what do you plan after the tour? Do you plan going back to a 9-5 job? Or keep on touring forever?
Might be a topic for whole video :D I am not keen on being homeless indefinitely.
Hey I’m wondering if you’re still using with the brooks saddle? Is it more comfy to ride than previously? And for longer distances?
Hi, I would rank brooks saddle to be number one upgrade for long distance touring. Your ass is going to be sore the same way, but with less bruises and you will be able to sit on it for longer, even whole day if needed, whiles original saddle was too painful to sit for longer than 15 minutes.
Nice video. thanks ❤
Thank you too
Do you need 6mm diameter screws for fitting these wheels? And what length do you need?
