Talks From The Chair - Saying “I’m Sorry”
มุมมอง 2921 วันที่ผ่านมา
There’s a difference between genuine sorrow leading to change and remorse with personal disgust. It’s been said that “The bedrock of Christianity is repentance”. This is absolutely true. Moreover, in social relations, there will be no healing and advancement without the admission of wrongdoing when it occurs. The Scriptures reviewed are Psalm 51:4 and 2 Corinthians 7:10 and Romans 12:28 & 14:19.

Hi, Your videos are fantastic, and it’s clear you put in a lot of effort! I noticed they’re not reaching their full view potential. As a TH-cam marketing expert, I’d love to share some tips to help grow your channel. Let me know if you’re interested!
Amen, God bless you
Thank you, needed this ❤
Orthodox here. Amen. "my" God , Jesus, is more important that any of the false gods Francis talk about, wether the one of the Muslims, the ones of the Hindus, the ones of the Sikhs, the Pashamama etc. Jesus is the Path, the Truth and the Life. No one goes to the Father with though Him. Understood Francis? The post Vatican 2 pontiffs are pushing towards pan-synchretism which is the ultimate heresy. Francis is not the first one, "saint" John-Paul II started it at Assisi years ago. Francis is just the ultimate one. Lord have mercy on us all sinners Kyrie eleison ☦️
God bless Pope Francis!
This pope is awful he needs to step down
Rob! You have made some great points in this video! I think the idea "there are many paths to God," is wrong, especially if we mean paths without - rather than within - faith in Jesus. Likewise, believers in the redemptive faith and redemptive works, both extensively detailed by Ss Paul and James, could not say there is "equal validity in the rituals of all religions." However, the Holy Spirit inspires and begins good works in many, in the sense of drawing man to right religion, no? Third, you are correct in saying there are no alternatives to the acceptance of grace, because as Adam is the source of sin, Christ is the source of grace. Yet I made a video ( I invite you if you wish, watch. ) where I give my interpretation of what Pope Francis said, and it was a speech of his that I enjoyed listening to.
True!
Thank you for this word ❤
Rob, Gary here love listening to you have a minor problem. I have to be sitting down listening with my phone to my ear to hear you that means I can’t be doing yardwork at the same time. I listen to you if there’s a way to get more volume on your broadcast please do so I’m sure I’m not the only one that this is happened to you. I love you my brother. Gary.
Good word, thank you
Very welcome
Accountability seems to be somewhat absent in many aspects of life these days. Politics, education, law enforcement, religion. If someone is held on a pedestal to preach our good word, they need to be more pure than those they preach to. No one seeks to learn for a lesson from an ignorant teacher or wants a speeding ticket from an officer that breaks all the traffic laws. I don’t want my religious leaders to be morally corrupt and anyone who helps cover up a moral transgression is almost as equally corrupt. It’s unfortunate that strong moral convictions are becoming a rarity these days. I think it’s accountability that is partially responsible for the decline. God bless
Lots of books on the shelves there. Are they yours? Have you read any of them? Are any of them connected to evolutionary biology? Your ignorance is jaw dropping. Why do you do this? Why, rather than peddling falsehoods about the origin of life- which is not addressed by the theory of evolution- why aren't you in a library trying to salvage an education?
Thank you for the thoughtful remarks. Yes, the spoken language of our Lord and his men was Aramaic, yet our Biblical MSS of course are Koine Greek, reflecting the mentioned variation, whatever import one assigns. Some Protestants will side with the ancient Romanist interpretation, but admittedly, this is the clear minority with the prodigious generality in disagreement. Peace.
Thanks for the response. You comment that the “Biblical MSS of course are Koine Greek.” Some like to lay on this heavily and I would like to make a quick note. The earliest manuscripts we have of any of the books of the New Testament are in Greek, yet not a single manuscript is an original. They’re all copies. From the mere fact of Greek manuscripts we can’t conclude that the originals must have been written in Greek. Yes, there may be a presumption of that, but not actually a proof. A interesting historical quote comes from Irenaeus in Against Heresies 3:1:1 in 180AD. He says “Matthew also issued a written Gospel among the Hebrews in their own dialect, while Peter and Paul were preaching in Rome and laying the foundation of the Church. After their departure, Mark, the disciple and interpreter of Peter, did also hand down to us in writing what had been preached by Peter. Luke also, the companion of Paul, recorded in a book the Gospel preached by him. Afterwards John, the disciple of the Lord, who also had leaned upon his breast, did himself publish a Gospel during his residence at Ephesus in Asia.” Secondly, your reading of Matt 16 and differentiating two different words doesn’t fit well with the context. For example, when God changes names it’s for a significant reason, and with your reading you are saying Jesus changed Simon’s name just to minimize or diminish him and point out that he is an insignificant stone. The result is “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! You are an insignificant little pebble. Here are the keys to the kingdom of heaven!” Such an incongruous sequence of statements would have been not merely odd, but inexplicable. And thirdly, I think D.A Carson gives insight to the thought, reason and a history of using two words in Greek, and as I said in my earlier post, many other non-Catholic Biblical scholars agree. For example Carson says in The Expositor’s Bible Commentary. “Although it is true that petros and petra can mean “stone” and “rock” respectively in earlier Greek, the distinction is largely confined to poetry. Moreover the underlying Aramaic is in this case unquestionable; and most probably kepha was used in both clauses (“you are kepha” and “on this kepha”), since the word was used both for a name and for a “rock”. The Peshitta (written in Syriac, a language cognate with Aramaic) makes no distinction between the words in the two clauses. The Greek makes the distinction between petros and petra simply because it is trying to preserve the pun, and in Greek the feminine petra could not very well serve as a masculine name." Carson also says in the -Zondervan NIV Bible Commentry. “The word Peter petros, meaning “rock” (Gk 4377), is masculine, and in Jesus’ follow-up statement he uses the feminine word petra (Gk 4376). On the basis of this change, many have attempted to avoid identifying Peter as the rock on which Jesus builds his church. Yet if it were not for Protestant reactions against extremes of Roman Catholic interpretations, it is doubtful whether many would have taken “rock” to be anything or anyone other than Peter.”
Hello Rob! Hope you are doing well. You bring up the Greek words petra/petros argument and I believe it’s important to note to the viewers that Jesus spoke Aramaic, and the word in Aramaic is Kepha for Peter and Rock. There is no distinction in Aramaic in this verse, like you are suggesting. There is no distinction in this verse that says this word means a small stone and this word means boulder or bedrock foundation. Simply Jesus would have said, you are Kepha and upon this Kepha I will build my church. An interesting note is to look at Matthew 16 in the French. It came from the same Greek translation but a different language and it only has one word for both-Pierre. It reads, you are Pierre and upon this Pierre I will build my church. Also, many non-Catholic Biblical scholars admit that Peter is indeed the rock.

Not only do they bow to Mary idol the think these statues actually come to life.
Idolatry is the lowest form of disrespect to God. Catholicism and Christianity is riddled with idolatry. They worship photos of Robert Powell in his characterization of Jesus in a 1977 movie as the living Jesus.
We do have to think through the matter carefully
Totally agree, love the sinner not the sin.
Nope. I don't care.
That’s your prerogative
Yes I get huge persecution from someone and from people who are close to me they often put me in a very dark depressing state and they tore me apart but God stepped in each time and dealt with the situation and illuminated the darkness that they produced
Let your light shine, be bright like a light and let it shine, show who you follow and just as you said that we are that lamp that light, that's a little off how my.class room colleague kinda described me, am hearing what people have said about me, and that's what's happening, God is shinning through me, praise God that he's taken a humble woman and used her to shine his light for all to see as per the words in the song
Yes people sense who you are by your very presence as a girl in my college told me that she noticed how I bounced in and hair all over the place and how beautiful I looked and she said that it made her smile, she said that I had some presence around me, all bright and bubbly, so that was a most beautiful thing for someone like her, so young and so beautiful to notice that in me who much older than her.
I have being asked by girls where I get thr words that I speak as they think it comes from new age, but I explain to them that I don't do new age and that the occult is wrong, but that when you pray a lot and connect with God not earth and earthly things, then you are given the words to speak by God, so I do get noticed for what I say and a lot of my posts on Facebook get a huge amount of recognition as it's all God centered
Amen and Amen
Amen sir
And yet, Jesus did not hesitate to call those who opposed him "Liars."
Amen ❤

Your God committed geocide, drowns babies, condones the rape of young virgins, sends people to be tortured over and over again for ever and ever for just not choosing to enslave themselves to him, was so inept that he had to have is son tortured to death because a rib woman was naughty 6,000 years ago, [nice one dad] and has hiden himself so well that he is as undetectable as something that doesn't exist. No offence to you personally my friend but religion is a faith based belief that hopefully we homo sapiens will one day grow out of.
A Pew poll of scientists found that four-in-ten scientists (41%) say they do not believe in God or a higher power. 72 percent of philosophers are atheists. Atheism in America [a highly religious country] is growing year on year. There is a clear trend towards non belief in a God as we become more and more educated as a species.
Telling other people what they think and believe, as if you have the superior knowledge of their minds, makes you exactly the sort of person that’s not worth talking to.
