    Was the article at the start not referencing COVID-19 in its discussion of the rent moratorium because it was the lockdown orders that made the moratorium necessary? The author isn’t saying don’t evict them because they’ll catch COVID, it’s saying don’t evict them as we may enter a lockdown and these individuals will be left without a home, without a job, without an income, and without much chance.

    • @financeessentials5200

      Apologies for the late response...but no, the response is literally they'll catch covid if they were forced out of their homes. They'll be in shelters, or at family/friends homes and gathered in larger groups.

    This is great, thanks for sharing! Everyone always forgets about appliance repair, there is a huge demand across the country, and most servicers that are worth working for pay very well. One of our biggest hurdles is that bls.gov hasn't updated our industry's listing in many years and the numbers just aren't correct. Keep up the good work, skilled trades are always going to be in demand :) appliance.academy

    Always love to hear Scott Horton. American history has been one long fight between federalists (Washington, Lincoln, TR, Wilson, FDR, all modern presidents), and anti federalists (Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine, Jefferson, Jackson maybe, some secessionists, the modern antiwar movement, not as many famous people unfortunately). Federalists took complete control in the 1860 war (which was not a war over slavery) and things have gotten worse ever since. Wilson was a big step for them, but he was just a step in a 250 year march. "Hardcore History" does a good job of making the philosophical connection between the federalists more clear, presidents and war mongers quoting past federalists to justify their actions. I tend to believe that presidents don't matter, if Wilson had never been born the political parties would have just naturally raised someone else to fill in his role.

    Yang is right about automation taking jobs in the rust belt. Same with AI. Many Trump supporters would had voted for him, had he won the democratic nomination. www.amazon.com/dp/0316414212/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_Y73H8DXXBRQG3MAACQ82

    • @financeessentials5200
      @financeessentials5200 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Automation has and is taking jobs from Americans, in particular those areas. I don't know how many jobs AI has directly replaced as the technology is new, but it will happen as well. But automation isn't the only thing, outsourcing has also taken it's toll. Employing a person in the US isn't cheap, and manufacturing is expensive. Companies continue to be margin squeezed and will go through whatever means they feel necessary to protect their bottom line. It is on you, me, and everyone else to see and understand where the future of business is going and try and plan accordingly.

    • @drsmetal2747
      @drsmetal2747 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@financeessentials5200 Ths economy of 20-30 years ago is gone forever. AI will take many jobs in finance, medical and accounting. Now, we have FSD automobiles coming soon. China 🇨🇳 has invested in robotics to displace many entry-level employment. They're advancing in AI. Eventually, it will happen here. The time line is 10-20 years. We are way behind than China in many areas. My timing may be off, but it's inevitable. Eventually, we will head into that direction. Welcome to the fourth industrial revolution. Put a VAT in place to fund UBI.

    • @financeessentials5200
      @financeessentials5200 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@drsmetal2747 I don't disagree with any of that. Your timeline may be a bit compressed, but I don't pretend to be knowledgeable enough to say one way or the other. My biggest issue with UBI is that I can't get on board with a system that adds additional bureaucracy on top of existing bureaucracy. If we were to somehow eliminate all domestic government programs and institute a UBI (let's even say dollar for dollar...so eliminate all $3T in domestic programs) and give it back, I would be on board. But all of the people who are currently on these programs won't just automatically adjust. So then you're just putting back in bloated, wasteful government programs and making the federal government even bigger.

    • @drsmetal2747
      @drsmetal2747 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@financeessentials5200 That's why I said a VAT. Value added tax to fund it. There are ways to get it done without blowing the deficit. Canada 🇨🇦 is going to possibly do it. Sorry, but more Americans becoming unemployed without a future be a dystopia nightmare. A trickle up economy is the best solution. Build the economy from the ground up with more small businesses.

    • @financeessentials5200
      @financeessentials5200 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't disagree with any of that. Again, my issue comes with the bureaucracy. There will absolutely be a "government VAT oversight" department, then there will be new regulations, etc etc that will just end up costing more. I don't think it will work out the way we hope, and that's because I'm going on the government's track record. Personally, if Canada is going to implement it, I would love to see how it goes.

      Prison Policy Initiative would seem to disagree with this, but as I discuss on the show, it doesn't really factor in what people actually plea to so there may be some grey area. To your point though, there is no reason for a nonviolent drug offender to be in a cage. www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/pie2020.html
