The End of an Era: Iron Maiden Without Nicko McBrain
What a sad news as Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain steps down from touring with the band. Iron Maiden are my favorites and Nicko is an inseparable part of the band, at least for me.
I wish you, Nicko, all the best, enjoy your well-deserved rest.
We'll never forget you!
Thank you Nicko:

Song-wise this peice sounds like Avril Lavigne. The lyrics "you wasted my pretties years" were from Korean idiom as far as I understand. By the way, I am personally glad for Rose to move on from her past relationship and to hang out with nice people like Evan and Bruno. I think Rose has been influenced by multi/global culture. Categoring her music into either A or B is too limited.

She is part of blackpink, she was already big in Asia. USA doesn't mean world. Though her album is doing well in USA more than Asia because of language. She is very famous in china too. She already has #1 on global billboard chart in 2021. Spotify numbers depends on if your song goes viral on tiktok or not. Cupid song did great, does that mean 50-50 is a big artist!? APT was made to be Catchy just like all blackpink title songs, if there is a dance challenge, it will do well on Spotify. No matter how good a song is, if ain't viral on tiktok, Instagram it won't do crazy numbers. The list of fastest songs to do 1Billion on Spotify is same as fastest songs to do 1 billion views on tiktok.

USA is where 65% of all music revenue in the world are generated. Over 70% of the songs on Spotify's Global Top-50 playlist recorded by US-based artists. Rose is becoming mainstream in USA akin to Talyer Swift is big milestone for Kpop. Kpop as whole is not mainstream like hiphop in USA.

Seducing networking an all-time hall of fame great Bruno Mars helps a little too 😅, but u still have back it up by yourself in the USA. K-pop is Kid pop to me so Rosie graduated to full pop with APT. And now she is heir apparent to Taylor Swift storytelling with her authentic solo album while Gracie Abrams to me is the pretender to Taylor’s throne 😊.

Honestly, I'm not sure. She definitely has great talent and potential. If she makes attractive songs like apt and keeps trying, she might become a superstar, as you say. I believe the funky rock genre suits her and makes her a big influence in the Western music market. But she should go back to being a member of BLACKPINK next year. She'll be busy, and maybe she'll have to wait 3-4 years to release her next solo album.

Many modern nu-devs have LITERALLY told in interviews that they do not even WANT cool, melodic, loud music to play in their games no more... because "it would only get in your way". Such statements have come from creators of many recent horror titles (clearly they never played OG Resident Evil or Silent Hill games), and countless MP titles (these people should play some Unreal Tournament). The little actual music we get in the modern, typical mainstream SP titles tend to be quite generic, over-produced "Hollywood score #5142" orchestration, that do not leave a lasting impression nor sell albums.

About any other competitive game based on hearing enemies. Why aren't you showing Path of Exile as a great example of today's music in game? Maybe because it disproves your point? Not even one memorable track in that list, compared to the unrivaled 90s. Music is purely atmospheric nowadays, with lots of drones and overly used pompous bombastic drums. It's acceptable in-game and doesn't distract from the gameplay, but if you listen to OSTs on their own, they have zero soul.

@@JaggedMercenary I'm glad someone gets it. Videogame music used to have such defined and powerful melodies, a throughline that you could hum from beginning to end and evoke the entire feeling of the song. Back then, they were very limited in the number of channels available to play audio and the quality of those channels. That forced them to make each beep and boop carry some heavy weight, and made central melodies more important as a way to carry the song's themes and feelings. Nowadays, it's as if the artists have too much freedom, being able to use as many channels as they want at the highest quality each. They've forgotten the importance of a good, central melody that acts as a foundation for the song, with the drums and other accompanying instruments subtly crafted to elevate the melody, rather than fighting it for dominance.

The music of Blizzard games was absolutely amazing, even into early Wow. However, there is still really great music to be found in video games now. It's just that most games are really bad, weak, underdeveloped garbage with a score to match it. But a game like BG3 had an amazing soundtrack in my opinion. I remember the great soundtracks, whisteling them while i work, listening to them while i work. No more. It's actually not easy to leave these habits that have formed in the last ten years but man, do i feel good whenever i shut all of those sounds up. I can understand why young people might remember a game for it's silence. It's what makes a game and it's experience remarkable and different now. Edit: Even fucking Opera became a gaming browser and guess what! It plays background music. AAAAHHH!! Sound everywhere!!!!
