Welcome to Between The Bellows - Episode 000
Great video!
The 12" Goerz Dagor is still an excellent all around lens even at it's age.
Love doing repairs for Gordon!!! Thank you for making this video!
There are surely experts better than I in the film development realm, but I find that dust is reduced enormously if you run the shower hot in the bathroom for 10 minutes or so, prior to hanging. The steam knocks a great deal of dust out of the air.
Just discovered your channel and I’ve been binge watching since then. Really enjoy the stories and the photography, please keep them coming. Cheers.
Oh this is so wonderful. Kieran's attention to detail is astounding. And I definitely spent the whole video equally amazed and thinking about all the classic building in my area that have been replaced with concrete cubes. Thank you for another wonderful video
Interesting what Kieran does there! I can see the appeal of his models, he does see the beauty where others just walk by without second thought.
Incredible! This episode is a new favorite.
Nice story! I like how succinct your edits and films are. Cheers!
That guy walked in literally at the last second! Good save, lol. Honestly, might have looked kinda cool if he was peeking in at edge of frame. Great work! I love your vids.
Love the ray ban meta inclusion
Testing them out to see if it's a viable camera angle 😂
Always fascinates me what hobbies/jobs some people have. Fantastic work by Kieran and also another superb portrait Marcus.
Thanks Joseph!
Love the video and the final photo! I wonder if the photo would have been even better on colour film, though since the subject is so colourful...
I thought about that too after I shot it, but color 8x10 is $$$$$$$$$$ 😭
@@BetweenTheBellows that is a very good point 😄
really great series you have going here with these LA craftspeople. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks so much for watching. Definitely inspiring to meet all these makers and hear their story. Gives me a creative kick in the pants.
It's easy to forget how skilfully you do not only the portrait but also the video leading up to it. Another fine episode.
Thank you for the kinds words, Bernard!
Kieran is amazing at what he does. His pieces are just wonderful and you can see how much work he puts into each piece. He's so talented x
They are amazing, even up close I am floored by the level of detail.
Beautiful portrait ❤!
Thank you Kevin!
Loved this episode and the shot Marcus!
Thank you for tuning in!
Kieran’s pieces are wonderful x
They are so amazing! Really really impressive works of art.
Another great artist and your image captured him and his craft wonderfully in 8x10. The fact he just picked it up during COVID and now look at his work. Thanks for bringing him to us.
Thank you for watching! Kieran's story is definitely inspiring.
Another great exploration of humans, craft and place- well done!
Thank you Michael!
Coool!
So cool!
Another Make America Cynical Again. This nostalgia is beautiful and fascinating, but it's a dead world. Im bored to watch this everywhere. We are in 2024, renew photography please. America is not like this anymore.
how about you renew yourself?
As if there isn't a surplus of contemporary photography to go look at, constantly being made and published online? We all know these people. They know so little, are so arrogant, and think they know so much. And it gets in the way of them knowing how little they know or beginning the process of knowing more. They will probably always be this way.
So happy to have found your channel today ✨📸 Great docs!
Another fan of your videos here! Have yo talked with some companies about sponsorship? Im not asking to push you in some cheap promotion (!) but it may be worth to reach out Lomography or even kodak (that went with new format Gold in 120), to make some fuzz in 8x10 community/market.
I have the same approach: 1st background, 2nd light.
I've lugged an 8x10 rail in Yosemite over my shoulder on an equally heavy tripod. It's not fun. I'd prefer to be able to go further with a 4x5 and get more images rather than get a few images and then fall dead in the woods from exhaustion.
Beautiful image and great story. I look forward to visiting this spot soon. I love how your 4x5 is your “small” camera. Lol. Keep doing what you’re doing. These stories keep inspiring me! 📷🎞️👏👏👏
I love the way that you combine the story of Kazuki‘s creativity with Large Format Photography. Please keep making these stories. They’re inspiring and they make me want to take more portraits with my large format camera (only 4x5, but it still counts)
I like the restored Porsche 911 most 😉
Looooove your work Marcus. Would like to see an episode where you discuss your favourite lenses for large format along with some examples ☺️
RnD?? It's just a rebranded Vision3 without remjet
..ive been doing an 8x10 project the past 6mo. Films are processed via dr5 [BWslide]. Would be happy to collaborate on something, if that is of interest. dw
Beautiful portrait.
This channel is awesome!
This video really captured the feeling of being in the that workshop and the care that goes into the puppets. Well done! And great portrait of Kevin! Iconic.
This is great man.
Wonderful portrait of Kevin. The look of 8x10 never gets old
Thank you! I am giddy every time I open the tank and pull out the negative.
Very nice done, excellent 😊 Marionette -Art Garfunkel th-cam.com/video/gzq_jAA0sGI/w-d-xo.html
Another fantastic video and portrait. Thanks.
Thank you!
Love this series! But honestly, if I ever visit this place it’s going to need to be midday, all the lights on and I’m not going to go to the basement.
Thanks for watching! It's definitely a great experience, but a tiny bit creepy being around the hanging puppets😆
These just keep getting better and better, he cinematography, the interview, the lighting. The portrait is fire as always.
Wonderful atmosphere. Wonderfully peculiar, in fact. Excellent portrait.
Thanks for watching, and I agree, there's no place like it.
I love the stories you show us here, thanks! And of course the portraits are top notch!
Thank you! There's so many interesting people out there. I'm having a lot of fun seeking them out.
Bravo you two. What a great story. Excellent capture!
Thanks for watching Michael, it was so fun to check out the theater space.
Very well done Marcus. Your portraits are wonderful. Your interviews are the cherry on top. My absolute favorite TH-cam channel.
Thank you Jeff! Still finding my way with the channel, but enjoying the storytelling part right now. Thinking of including more gear-focused or technical episodes eventually.
a 1600 film would be nice
Oh that’s a lovely story! I can relate to that. Right after COVID restrictions were less … restrictive many people started to spend more time in public places. They started to do more activities in my local park. That’s were I did my 2yr long project photographing people doing different (sometimes uncommon) sports. I’m not done yet editing the photographs. But I hope one day I’ll be able to publish a simple zeen or something of that sort.
This just makes me want to quit everything and make pasta. I'm so jealous.
I loved this one! Especially seeing your process, your math and all the little tasks to taking these photos. A step back in time.
