Their blockbuster games underperformed due to being tied to ps5 exclusively. Not many people are buying ps5. FF7 remake appeared on both ps4 and ps5 and sold extremely well. FF7 rebirth and ff16 on the other hand were both on ps5 only which was a detail they overlooked and didn't realize. Forspoken bombed due allowing the west to completely alter the original game and turn it into the failure of a game that we have.

Phil Spencer is a genius because he understands that exclusives are bullshit and shouldn't be a barrier. Everyone should be able to play all games regardless of platform, it's up to the respective companies to work on their HARDWARE to get you to buy it. Nobody should have to buy an Xbox or Ps5 because there's 2-3 games that they like on it. That would be over $1,000 just to play 4-6 games between both consoles.

@@trevor866 Agree to disagree Phil Spencer himself said that Xbox lost the worst console generation. And this generation only continued the streak. And that led to repeated changes in their strategies while Ps5 continued to sale at a rapid pace. Sony is not directly competing with PC if anything they are earning more money on PC by putting their games their. They are not losing really anything to "Xbox" in that regard. This is more a conversation about the divisions in Microsoft and Sony not the companies as a whole. Everyone know Microsoft dominates in software when it comes to PC. And it's not just a hivemind. You may or may not have liked PlayStation games in the past but they have a catalog of games they deserved the success of each platform and people rightfully assumed it would continue but it didn't. I would say that PlayStation failed to deliver the generation instead of people being in a hivemind. I think it will sell decently in the beginning because it's the new shiny thing but that price tag is a bigger issue than you think. Also Xbox has a lot of issues with game pass itself that it needs to improve. (it's still the best service in gaming) And PC gamers hate playing games on any app that isn't steam 🤣 To say they are in the Microsoft sphere is true but also not...

@@SenpaiShiba But losing a console generation doesn’t translate into a failed product. Xbox admits they won’t ever beat Sony so they are making business moves to target a gamers in other ways over hardware. The money is in software. I’m an Xbox guy. Not a fan boy but I’ve been with Xbox since the first console and even I’ll say that Sony makes a great machine and regardless of the controversy it has a great future. I like to follow Sony news not to watch the negative but I enjoy gaming as whole and like most sane gamers I understand the importance of competition. But the truth before Concord, Sony hemorrhaged 30 billion dollars in loss for a company worth 127 billion. That forced Sony to adopt a new strategy as well. Hence why Sony exclusives are not really Sony exclusives anymore. And the PSVR which failed miserably is being sent to PC as well. Sony was sued for 10 billion by its own play base for price gouging its own customers. So they do have a history of acting like a monopoly. Consoles haven’t grown because people are jumping ship to PC. That makes PC a direct competitor to Sony and everyone else. Not sure what’s going to happen with the pro but you won’t be seeing ps5 numbers. The price on the pro is a borderline scam to what it offers over the original ps5. If it was a true next gen console we could see the value. Xbox and PS players spent half the generation playing remasters instead of actually using the consoles power effectively and now that new games are coming out the consoles are nearing the end of their life cycle. I agree with you the PlayStation has great games but they have always held back their titles from everyone else until recently. Apparently PC gamers fart rainbows and shit gold nuggets.

@@trevor866 I agree with a lot of this but I don't think people jumping to PC is a big factor towards low console sales. I think last gen is such a big anomaly because of how long it is. It's four years into this generation and there isn't any signs of games stopping. There really isn't a need to move to the next console because of how the current state of gaming is. Fortnite, warzone, apex and other live service games dominate the market and there isn't any real push to get those people off last gen. And in the conversation of exclusive it's always been console vs console. Xbox has been putting some of their games on PC for decades (fable, halo, gears etc) so when the average consumer talks about exclusive it's still only about console platforms. However that conversation is dying (thankfully) because of PCs dominance overall. I believe this current monopoly is more so due to Xbox shooting themselves in the foot and PlayStation capitalizing on it. After the Xbox 360, Xbox had a huge opportunity to Separate themselves from the pack but they went a different direction and failed tremendously which caused a trickle effect in my opinion. And PlayStation only acts like a monopoly when their isnt any real competition. And tbh it still feels like their isn't. But I like talking about these things and seeing different perspectives. I agree with a few things you said. Especially about PlayStation's failures.

Well to be fair not everyone is paying 1000 for their phone up front. People are on contracts and just upgrade when it's time to and pay monthly on their phone bill. Also it's about the market and what the standard has been And a $700 console has always been looked at as insane.

humm while what sony did is indeed scummy , switching to Xbox achieves nothing. Microsoft will most likely stop producing Xbox as a console considering they are never able to beat sony/playstation even when playstation has mostly no games. Most likely xbox will become a bunch of game studios bought by microsoft and put all their eggs on gamepass and other services

@@SenpaiShiba I agree with you but I'm really not seeing how can xbox turn it around. Playstation has a massive mindshare worldwide, sells shit ton of consoles even when they had their most lackluster roster of games ever, microsoft proceeds to buy a ton of studios when they are at their worst and cant pump out proper games. Their biggest last mistake was getting activision blizzard, CoD still sells a lot but its on a obvious downtrend, halo is ruined, Blizzard games are on a downtrend as well , they will need a ton of time to make even on those 64 billions wasted. Only time will tell but I really dont see any happy days for xbox at all, lets hope I'm wrong

@@ThatNorma Yeah I think this upcoming CoD will be a turning point. For better or worse. It's debuting on game pass and that's where their focus is so depending on how well it does it can fix a lot of things or things will take a turn for the worse.

Capcom has definitely been killing it recently. Hopefully with Silent Hill 2 remake coming out Konami can start doing the same.
