The $100 Billion Potato Industry: Why Idaho Dominates the Market // A BulkLoads Feature
There are BulkLoads members in all the lower 48 states, yet every one of them has their own unique story. As for this episode, we had the privilege to experience life out in the potato fields of Idaho. Trucking runs deep here like it does in many other places, it just might look a little more starchy. A special thanks to BulkLoads member John Pocock for making this happen along with Sun-Glo, their links are below.

The real detail I noticed is the color matched tarp on the frameless. I imagine he probably paid a pretty penny for it.
smart business
There’s no way those new trucks run continuous. There is always problems with new trucks
Beautiful truck. Watched the other video on this truck too. Love it.
An Outstanding Episode! Jessie Bounds is the real deal, I’ve watched his TH-cam videos too see his operation in action!
It's nice to see a big fleet without freigtshakers or volvos.
I'm here from the Barn Talk crowd. I enjoyed you on Barn Talk.
👀
He speaking facts
Id followed that tractor and camper in ohio, rt, 82 headed east felt like last. Time flies
My old town❤I did some work at the truck stop and met Earl sr a very down to earth man and nice to work for I stop there recently and not anything like it was. The trucks are always clean and shiny. Seems like a great bunch of guys when I was young and work on a farm in New Holland we used a J D a
what color was it?
I really liked this video, good information and smart guy. I mainly pull Walker tankers for milk, but those Polar tanks are definitely nice. He's right they do dent easy.
That’s a Kenworth T680 I believe
Beautiful Pete. You can certainly see a huge decline in what people are driving and don’t wash it or even GAF about what it looks like. It’s sad.
Bullshit I have a $20,000 truck that does the something a $30000 dollar truck .you have idiots paying that much for a truck. That's why there so high to bye .
Great stuff!
Also work a lot better in sand
And all of this is why I quite trucking for Hire. And transferred into Heavy Equipment Rentals and sales. My Peterbilt has never been more reliable than it is now. It only goes out when I need to move a machine for my business, and I charge the customer for the move usually. Otherwise, it sits in a harm shop, and I still get to enjoy driving my Peterbilt!
Dump truckin doesnt pay shit neither does being OTR for weeks af a time. If you cant make a check and take a 34 at the house 90% of the time, you are doing the wrong shit.
What world you living in? Both make BANK
They also have more traction on PAVEMENT when they are backwards.
Love that financial reporting should be a confirmation on what you already should know…
🙌
So what?
🤔
That's why tire company came out with the lug and half they had more contact patch
Good to know!
💪🙏
💪🏻👊🏻
Thanks for watching!
They look frontwards to me…
🤔
That is absolutely beautiful!
🙌 Thanks for watching!
Loved this podcast!
Any employer that can't find drivers, here is the trick good pay. But no employer's run them to the groud.
Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great episode! Knowing your numbers is definitely key.
Thank you it’s a numbers game 👍
It really is!
Please take notes "If that makes any sense"
🤔
They went to D.C. Another one of Jimmy Carter's nightmare policies. Him or Biden, take your pick.
Drill baby Drill!!!
They wear a lot better on asphalt, but good luck stopping when the roads wet.
Good point!
Tractors Swathers and combines put the drive tires backwards to get the traction in reverse. When you’re in the field and get stuck or spin out you get your traction in reverse to get out not forward. That’s why that was done and is still done now.
Very fascinating! Had no clue, glad you found our channel!
There’s a company we use that has way over 150 dump trucks and believe it or not
Good to know!
THE MASSES DON'T LIKE LOOKING AT TRUCKS!! THEY WOULD ACTUALLY LIKE TO SEE THEM TO GO AWAY. MORONS!!
Never would want to drive a old popper like that any distance they just move so slow
This wasn't that long after people were getting around with horses. And early cars did like 25 max in most cases, the roads werent good enough to do better anyway. By the 1950s they were only just starting to make cars that would do freeway speeds, but most of the roads were not really suitable still. And driving at 25mph is still a hell of a lot faster and easier than walking. They drove whole army columns hundreds of miles at that speed, or less than that. You cover the ground, it just takes a while. But if you expect it, it's not a big deal. They just didn't have the expectation that you could just get on a nice freeway and cruise everywhere at 75, that just wasn't a thing yet.
When the tires are constantly trying to dig down and that’s why it wears most on the highway. Tires can’t dig into pavement. I will always favor gravel when traveling to a field.
Good to know!
Looks like Kenworth 990.
🙌
They were driving to dc to protest a bill in congress
👌
Nice cab on that Johnny popper.
Johnny Popper 😂
They wear better when you do alot of hard ground driving, like gravel roads or paved. In the soft dirt they wear just the same forwards or backwards.
I'd imagine the wear on dirt is minimal.
Good to know 👌
Hooah boys!
🙌
Interesting
🤔
You'd think they would grip better with the tires facing that way!
The problem is that flipping them this way causes mud to build up and not be able to throw itself out of the tread. So this is ideal for use on pavement and gravel, not in a field.
😯
Nice rig!! Definitely the first to do that to my knowledge!!!😎👌🤘👍
Right on!
Never in my life would I have imagined seeing a John Deere a with a semi truck cab
And doesn't even look bad at all 😂
@@Stywo real
Kinda looks like a natural fit!
13:02 is false. I drove for a big paving company in PA. We owned about 12 asphalt plants, a few quarries, over 200 dump trucks and a ton of crews. Everybody was union. The only thing we used brokers for was to haul aggregate from the pit to the plant because that doesn’t really pay.
...the exception.
Good perspective
@@garfieldthomas8118nah not really. Plenty of companies do this. Justin just seems to think he’s a way bigger company than he really is. He’s not doing anything different than any other dump truck business.
Great interview with JST. A guy out in the street who's doing it hands on. Justin knows you're either buying parts (if you can get them) or making payments. Either way you're stroking checks. You've just got to figure out which one causes you the least amount of pain.
That was one of our favorite quotes from the episode as well. Thanks for watching!
Love the prayer at the end of the show. And Lord I pray for Mr Justin and myself you know what we need more of in our lives. And we give you all the thanks and Glory. Amen . I enjoy this podcast. Stay safe. 2025 is going to be a big turn around for the United States of America amen.
Thanks for tuning in and the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it
