Long Hot Summer.

I was born in 1950 and I loved the decade where I spent my early childhood. My mum used to sing many of these songs while she did her chores.

I love the theme from 'Limelight.'

That was such a good year for music

My mum loved 'The Story of My Life' abd often sung it to us.

I remember all these songs from a much more innocent era. Bobby Darin was a wonderful singer, sadly dying at the young age of 37.

Bobby Helms singing 'Fraulein' was my favourite song of 1957.

I had my 6th birthday in 1956. I remember my mum singing the songs of that wonderful musical era.

1959 was the year that Buddy Holly died.

Frankie Vaughan's Garden of Eden was, if I remember correctly, the intro song to a movie of the same name, about a nudist camp. I was 14 at the time, and I and a couple of friends sneaked into a cinema to watch it, saying that we were 16 (minimum age at that time for X-rated movies). The problem was that the parents of one of my mates were also watching it, and we got busted! Good memories though.

Ah, Radio Luxemburg, the only way you get to hear (and then only part of) these songs back then. The BBC would NEVER play such 'rubbish'.

Guy Mitchell had such happy, cheery songs!!
