PRIMUS POT TEST 1
มุมมอง 2463 ปีที่แล้ว
Primus ETA pot with a Primus Omnifuel running on butane/propane gas. These type of pots with the built in heat exchangers make a massive difference to cook/boil times and save a lot of fuel...well worth buying and these pots and kettles come in all sorts of sizes, this one is the bigger 3l pot but the small 1l pots work very well too.

TRANGIA WINTER 1
มุมมอง 1494 ปีที่แล้ว
Few years old now, video taken in the Brecon Beacons. Trangia 27 and a British Army No7 stove burning Coleman fuel. The stove is an Optimus 80 in a case designed for the army. I do apologise for my constant sniffing but camera in one hand and trying to light stoves with the other...what can you do. I did have some other clips but just can't find them.

"The Sleeping Bag", a poem by Herbert Ponting. Here it goes, fellas: ON the outside grows the furside, on the inside grows the skinside; So the furside is the outside, and the skinside is the inside. As the furside is the outside, and the skinside is the inside, One side likes the skinside inside, and the furside on the outside. Others like the skinside outside, and the furside on the inside; As the skinside is the hard side, and the furside is the soft side. If you turn the skinside outside, thinking you will side with that side; Then the soft side, furside's inside, which some argue is the wrong side. If you turn the furside outside, as you say it grows on that side; Then the hard side's next your own side, which for comfort's not the right side; As the hard side is the cold side, and your skinside's not your warm side; And two cold sides coming side by side, are not right sides, one side decides, If you decide to side with this side, turn the outside furside inside; Then the hard side, cold side, skinside, beyond all question's inside outside.... AND it does not matter a particle what you do with the bally thing, someone's sure to tell you it's outside inside.
I Just love British Humor...and i also liked the video of George Carlin on the poem of Hair

What kind of stove do you have in the background
Soooooo ... Not reversible?
They shaved my chest with a electric razor to stick on heart sensors. 3 days later I broke out in a hideous rash right where they had shaved me. The electric razor they used was contaminated. Enter at your own risk. This is a filthy hospital.
Hi great video i have been looking for a Sigg set to go with my SVEA 123r but they are hard to find. I have found a fuel that is slightly cheaper and dose not smell as bad and seams to burn cleaner i am using Aspen T4 and i also use it in my 8R. its always good to see the old stoves still being used and looked after. Take care Gillian
Nice kit mate. Sigg tourist and Svea 123? Boils nice!
nice action shots but a quick sweep of what ever mountain side you were on would have really set the scene!!
Is that a lid for the crusader cup? Is it home made?
Nice showing!
hi does anyone no what running time is like on high and simmer ? many thanks Dan
I've never timed it but the tank is big and will last me a full weekend of cooking.
The stove is heavy, not for backpacking, at a guess about 3kg, super stove.
Hi again I got the pans and so impressed I now buying a number 12 stove, any idea on weight in kg ? And wud u say this type is one of the best thanks
The best advice on starting/lighting a single burner that I have came across. Excellent.
They are indeed.
Are the number 2 pans stainless steel ?
hi thatnks for educating the uneducated here LOL ... i am new to the coleman 442 having just orderd a army surplus coleman 442 from ebay that i intend to use to replace my trangia meths burner.. just wondering how long on average use would it take to clogg the generator i have read mixed reviews alot of people say it cloggs up others say they have used it with petrol for years without any problems.
Not recommended for UK unleaded, its full of junk that will block the generator
ahhhhh not recommended for car fuel ehhh it's a friggin petrol stove i dont get it
Wow! Congratulations!
If your not a member pop over and join wwwspiritburnercom there is a good fettle/mod thread about using a 111T silent burner on the No12 See you over there.
Ah, but you see, I'm a user and a collector. The No2 has a pitifully small fuel tank but not a bad stove when you get a good one. A big issue came with the 'updated' burners which were far worse than the original ones. I've got a couple of army No3 setups, I'll do a video on them when I can.
You supprise me, your in the minority there lol. Amongst us stove collectors the No2 is considererd junk, certainly the versions with the moddified stainless steel burner cap. You don't actually need the pricker in place you can use an external pricker but so long as the pin is in straight you should have no problems. The No12 is well regarded, solid, well made and pongo proof; never heard of a vaporiser split? I've fitted a silent burner on one of mine, I'll do a video of that.
I would be very curious about this modification ... is a video of this modification available anywhere?
Make sure the needle is straight and you'll have no problems. Nice to know they are still in use, cracking stove if loud. You can fit a silent Optimus burner which makes them multifuel and could burn coleman fuel; I don't mind the noise. I've used diesel but prefer paraffin, it burns cleaner and you don't need to clean the jet much if ever, I can use tanks of paraffin without needing to clean the jet. I thought the army had stopped them as the stoves are much more common than a few years ago
I didn't use an Optimus Jet I just know they fit the thread is a standard cut. I only use diesel on No 12's don't fancy loosing a limb. The needles are very fine and can easily bend but well held in the brass fitting. The army are still using them they are part of every armoured vehicle!
I tried when I first got one some years ago and they wanted to know where the stove had come from and refused spares, the army has I think pretty much stopped using them so its good to see they are releasing spares. Which Optimus jet did you use, Multifuel, petrol or kerosene, alcohol? all are different sizes which will have impact on the cleaning needle. I replaced a needle in a second No12 with was bent when it arrived but works fine.
I bought spares from them no problem you just need to know which parts you want, the Optimus Jet does fit but the Jet itself is bigger so the burn won't be as blue. Also the needle fits but again isn't going to clean the jet as it should due to size variations. My advice is contact them by email: sales@toc-ltd.co.uk They also prefer to refit and test the burners themselves rather than supply spares. They can do Pumps but don't like selling Leather seal only, ..to do with fitting and testing?
I mail them , try to get parts for my No 12 and get no answer 😣😣
@@j.juergen1010 I'm not sure where you have emailed, but please try again sales@toc-ltd.co.uk its possible the email has been blocked or gone to spam
@@panama2010y Hello, Thank you for your answer ! I checked the e-mail address again and received a read confirmation at the time ... but as I said, I received no answer 😒 It is quite frustrating when you own such an exotic piece abroad and cannot get any spare parts for it In the end, it turns out that you opt for a different make ... which is a shame! Many thanks and greetings from Germania Jürgen
@@j.juergen1010 Hi Juergen as I said your mail may have gone to spam, who knows. I'm not sure what you mean, we manufacture these in the UK for the British Army MoD and they are still in service, if you need spares we can supply. You simply need to ask.
@@panama2010y Hello TOC, I'm happy about the Support that you shown to me .. thanks a lot !! Once a time ago I bought a bundle of these No 12 Cookers and at one of them the Flame Spreader is missed 😣 I don't have to explain it in particular that it is absolutely difficult to get such a part as a replacement here in Germany. Then I read in what is probably the most famous forum for Campstoves, and here in TH-cam that TOC meanwhile sold spare parts to civilians and tried my luck. In the meantime I have helped myself with an emergency solution, but on your advice I will try again to contact TOC. If you are interested ... there is a video from me - British Army No 12 runs silent with Heinze Geniol Cap - AGAIN, thank you for your support and best regards from Germany 👍
They won't supply any, certainly not when I checked but the jet nipple and cleaning needle is standard Optimus parts, the pump is too.
Well done...
Nope, not in Wales, just Badgers, foxes, Kites, Pheasant, Partridge, Rabbit, Hare, Salmon and Trout...oh, and very loud Owls !
You folks do not get amny bears then, do you?
well that was more fun than the couple shots over at CCS!
Thats a cool old video and a good "how to" on that Yukon stove.(I own one) Thanks for posting it.
Cheers Greg, how you doing these days, you still up in Yellowknife?
