Music: Jupiter One by: Riot Just a quick fix-er upper of old game. Forgot to mention the card holders are roughly 6x3 with double thick walls. So each inside compartment is roughly 2-7/8 by 2-7/8. The longer ones are 10-1/2 by 3 with card holder parts similar size and the token compartments kinda just evenly spaced out.

i playd along i got 93 -83 = 15 not bad but not very good lol this was funn thanks for the video.
COOL!. Been sick, then busy but I do plan another play along soon(ish) on the other side. This time I will fill in map lightly, then draw it nice off camera to speed up game and video. So glad you enjoyed it and I am glad to know that my score for solo was not unreasonable. I noticed later my score was similar to our multiplayer games before the solo penalties so that helped ease my mind.
Great video, thank you
You bet, so glad you liked it, hope it helps. Sorry for the slow reply I have been sick pretty much all October and when I wasn't I was working on an upcoming DIY project and just busy.
@ratherbeboardgaming5246 i understand i hope you are doing better. I look forward to seeing more videos
Great video, thank you
Enjoying your videos. What are those containers you are using for your Mythos and Other Worlds Cards and where can I get some?
I actually made them out of foam core. In my DIY mystery video I show how. It is the same process I used for Fortune and Glory (also in the DIY video for that game) since those cards are two sided I found it MUCH better. Small hole in bottom to grab the card, front of the 'box' is about 1/8" gapped at the bottom where the finger hole is. As long as the card stack is decent in size, they will weigh themselves down enough to allow the pull of the bottom card. May move to using chipboard in some instances in future but will probably keep those as is since they work well and I like the look and feel of them for this game. Thanks for watching and the comment.
@@ratherbeboardgaming5246 I am not handy. Would you consider making me 3 and how much would you want for parts, labor and shipping? I live in Washington State.
WOAHHHHHHH
Excellent. Always a pleasure to see a production that allows you to store the game's contents. I think Arnak is the worst culprit I've come across--just an empty box for your storage solution. Is there a solo mode?
There is an 'official' solo in the manual, page 4. Standard setup with your choice of the random cards, only 1 of each card. Roll 3 stable dice. Keep 1 and place 1 BACK IN BOX, out of rest of game. Continue until you can't roll 3 stable dice. Earning most point total possible is goal.
My son and I played a game or two of this to show him how it works. He enjoyed it but we both felt it might be stronger with 3 or 4. More copies each card based on player count. More possible interactions with attack cards. Still silly simple strategy with dice luck mitigation. Just as your engine area gets messy, the game ends.
I'd take my version with those metal coins and wooden resources any day of the week. I think I paid $61AUD from Amazon Australia.
If it is going to hit the table often, I could see that. I have too many un-played games and too few game nights. For me to try the game, I'm glad I got this version on sale for about $15 US. I have 5 or 6 other worker placement with resource gathering games I can think of off top of my head and I don't play them nearly enough. This version's rule book is a tad vague in a few spots. I 'thought' this is what it meant, for setup and game flow, check on BGG and I was right but if someone was new to this style of game, they could miss the flow of shops and offer refills etc. Not a huge deal. Great version to try and get new players into gaming.
@@ratherbeboardgaming5246Yep. I've got 250+ games with barely enough time to actually play. $15 bucks for a less "premium" version is perfect.
The dice sound wonderful! And I appreciate the rounded corners (they roll so much better that way).
uuummmm DICE !! Yeah they really nice
Thanks for the video bro, this looks fun
Thanks for watching, and the comment. I have enjoyed it but have only played it solo thus far. Challenging enough without all the mistakes......
Have you tried the newer reloaded rules on BGG
Haven't looked into that. Been sick and busy and got other games I wanted to get played. Curious though what changes it makes. The game Is awkward to learn the flow but not too hard after that. Would it be worth visiting and replaying?
I love the grind you’re on and honestly I hope you blow up soon
Thanks so much. Like most people I've been sick and dealing with life and have not got to play NEARLY as many games as I would like. Doing the videos helps me to not only enjoy the games but try to really learn the game so I am more likely to remember how to play, at least most of the rules. Why not see if anyone else can get some valuable info and enjoyment as well.
How fun is this game for 2players...Is it too luck reliant??
Sorry for delay. Slow net issues and I've been working on a couple more videos. The game is silly fun and lots of luck with bag pulls. The key is timing when to rush to dig so you can try to be first with a decent amount of pulls. With two players I'm not sure this would work as well. Both players could simply focus on different areas to dig depending on the cards that came out on the board. They may not end up 'interacting' with each other at all other than fighting for a wild card or two. Yes there is lots of luck. Chit pull from bag rather than die rolls but it works. It works well at 3 and at 4 more card draws and competition for digs makes this game shine with not MUCH more game length. Thanks for watching and your question.
Thank for making a video of this game. I noticed the box to be way bigger than the content on the inside.
Just a reminder that we still have the Expansion in stock... but stock is running low. We have less than 60 copies left of our original print run of 1000. We do plan on printing another 500 of them but those will not be available for several months so order now while we still have them in stock! hackandslashgames.com/shop/hyperborea/hyperborea-light-shadow/
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Wry good rules explanation as you play.
Not a problem. I am just getting back online and busy with channel. Thanks for the watch and comment. Another one of those games that I had heard several people mention as a fun little filler but never saw anything in depth about it. Bought it to fill out an order and am very pleased. It's not difficult to teach and play. As I said in video I have similar games but this is also different enough and short enough to make this a great addition for me. Stay safe, stay healthy.
mysterys dont take effect on the initial 6 cards. i also made this mistake. great game and playthrough mate 👍
thanks for making this, i bought this game on clearance years ago but haven't got it to the table. We need more people making vids for obscure games like Ventura!
Absolutely. This is one of if not the game that got me to start the channel. I just took a random chance on this game during a Christmas sale one year. Read up about it some and checked out the rules(a little). I just couldn't find much info on it so took a chance to fill out an order. I thought this was a great little hidden gem. It also made me take more chances on games to fill out orders. If I found a game on sale or clearance that had little to no info and looked interesting to me I would grab it. Got a dud a time or two but also got some really fun and unique (for me) games. I am still wanting to try this full player count.....maybe one day.... Thanks for the comment. Stay safe, stay healhty.
I thought I was the only one who owned this game.
Before moving the strike force ships comes the phase events and the phase boost card playing.
Sorry about the slow reply. As you might imagine, some life stuff going on. Thank you very much for helping me with this. I do need to play this again, even off camera, soon. It was fun but I think I do remember I would probably put some sort of time / turn counter system in play for myself. I felt too powerful at the end. Could be this rule mistake, could be the easy boss or just the nature of how the game plays. Still pretty neat and enjoyable.
In co-op games you have a single hand of event cards
Sorry haven't been around in a very long time...because of stuff. Will kind of lump my response for you. Thank you , thank you so so much for the comments. Truly. I did miss this every time I read the rules. Every time I would get it out to play solo or with friends I would re-read the rules the night before and have them handy during game and NEVER saw this. With the temples I know I got confused and tried to make it easier to manage and streamlined and I think I was getting the updated temples rules jumbled with the original. I know the expansion changed the way some of it is handled so I may have goofed. The drawing the villain not in the deck is weird. I honestly have not opened the game in a year because of life stuff. I thought if it wasn't a villain in play, they come out for that one turn/event until dead or resolved. I do love this 'little' game. Was even playing the music CD during a play. Thanks for helping me out. Stay safe, stay healthy.
You need to reread the rules on deadly tests.
Will do, always do. Lumped several responses into another reply. Hopefully it didn't ruin the game for someone watching along. Thanks for all the help. Now I will have to log back in to my channel before I try this one again.
You can’t draw a villain who’s card isn’t in the deck.
You can play cards that add adventure dice AFTER dice have been rolled.
Thanks for doing this FANG play through!
When fortune is taken from a temple danger tokens are added. When Sanger tokens are added equal to the danger value you add a collapse token and roll for collapse.
You can move directly from ports to ocean spaces they are next to.
If an enemy spawns on top of you then you must immediately fight them. So it wouldn’t interrupt your movement in this case
do you have a facebook group/page?
Sorry been away. "Things". Yes and no. I was just getting started and trying to figure out how to do stuff, and how much I wanted to do and all that. I basically made a Facebook page to prevent someone from faking it but then never truly used it. Not sure how much I will in the future. I JUST recently (past month) got on to actual Facebook to try and reach out to and old friend. Have never been on Facebook other wise.

Buddy, this was an awesome video and much appreciated...I really enjoy these kind of organization vids and I happen to have this game and plan on adding the 2 expansions...like the fact it also supports play and setup...hope you will share a vid anytime you do anything similar in the future...thanks again for the vid...subbed...Jim
Awesome message and thank you. I started the channel to make myself play the games and do the projects I had in mind and hopefully inspire others. So glad you enjoyed it and welcome to the channel.
Nice job guys! FYI extra sets of dice go a long way toward shortening the game - we have a set of dice for each player, roll simultaneously, then move the cars in sequence. The game flies by.
Thanks for the kind comment and suggestion. I have most of them around the house somewhere....we wanted to just jump right in and with my youngest the color coded die for the gear really helps. May have to try that in the future because i really could see that speeding things up. Need to store them in or nearby. Fun game none the less.
Give this man a medal. He is the first who made gameplay review of this board game
Thanks! One of the main reason I did it, and started the channel. Plenty of videos of the new and kick starter games, but not much on the older value games. Hope you enjoyed it.
Nice paint jobs at the end, paid a little more for my copy, then looked up video
Fix your sound cannot hear anything with max volumes set.
Sorry to hear that. It works fine on my head phones but that is an old video with old equipment. I have since purchased a new camera and setup. Hopefully this will not be an issue in the future.
Thank you for the video. I likned it here: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/34871/ventura/videos/all
Cool. Thanks for the link. Hope some people find it helpful.
thanks for doing this video. This game really needed a video like this. It has been in the sales/clearance lists of online game stores for quite some time. I also picked it up cheap, but have not got it to the table. In fact I had put it up for sale on BGG but I think I will take it off and try and get it played. Just a couple of thoughts though. 1. Regarding the VP issue. I don't think red's strategy of devoting the majority of income to VP's would work vs multiple players or even a live opponent. If he isn't buying units but others are, he will only get one turn to spend on VP's, as the other players will march on the undefended territories, eliminating his income and taking him possibly out of the game. This is more war game than it seemed probably playing solo. Seems to me expanding through conquest or taking land tiles to build your income prior to starting to buy VP's is probably the way to go. 2. I thought you had mentioned earlier in the video that capturing opponents "castle" pieces when you conquer their territory gave you VP. I didn't see in the video where Black player got credited for taking Red's territory and thus his "castle" pieces. 3. definitely think this will be more bloody as a multiplayer game. I like the combat system. Thought it was quick and easy but also thematic.
Awesome! Glad someone else is giving this hidden gem a try. I agree the game would be much different especially at 4 players. The board would also be larger though so some early units and turtling could occur but I really want to try it 4 players, just don't have enough opportunities as of late. While moving the camera for shots I may have missed awarding points or got lazy and did it off camera. Sorry about that but I mainly did a rush job to get the video out for people to check out this neat little war like game with a twist. I couldn't find any decent information on it so really wanted to present it. Really hope you and your group enjoy it. Thanks for watching.
Wow, a game about our region! It seems very nice! =O
The components are well done and pretty as most all of the Queen games I've encountered. HOPING, fingers crossed, I will get this played in the next few days and a playthrough video up soon after. Cinque Terre is a pick-up and deliver game as well with bright colorful pieces and board where you fulfill vegetable orders at different stops. It's another game you might be interested in checking out. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed.
With annotations phasing out I am unable to make in game notes of mistakes such as near 2:40:35 I awarded blue player 3X3 = 9 pts instead of 4X3 = 12 pts. I was also unable to put the time stamps on screen for different turns or scoring in the game but made a few notations in the description section. I hope I can find a good alternative in the future or I will just have to comment blast all the mistakes. I apologize for the shaky camera and the strange focus issues that were taking place especially in the early part of the video.
