Pcv valve replacement- 2003 dodge ram 1500 4.7l
มุมมอง 45K6 ปีที่แล้ว
How to replace and install the PCV valve on a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4.7 L engine @tnservice22
Hey I recently went to change my spark plugs but ended up disconnecting my breather hose (one connected to intake near throttle body) and theres 2 holes it can go but don't know which one it's meant to go to, would you be willing to send me a picture of the inside of the engine? Please my vehicle will idle for seconds before stalling.
Hey sorry to hear you're having trouble. I sold my truck a few years ago now so can't help, hopefully someone else Herr may read this and assist. Good luck
Bro you saved my ass. I snapped mine by accident and couldn't figure it out thanks so much
Glad it helped
I'm needing help with the hose fir the sad 3.7l v6
tis
What are the reasons for changing this? Reason for me asking is I have a 03 same model and everything, and mine wants to die during stops and such. Could this be the problem
Rough idle can be caused by the pcv valve and that was my problem. For stalling out at idle it could be many things like egr valve, low fuel pressure or even a vacuum leak. I look at it this way, i dont have a car payment or mandatory servicing for warranty but all vehicles need maintenance so start with the cheapest part which you believe could be one of the issues and replace it. If it doesn't fix it then move to the next part. Keep a log of all things done and the mileage and that will help remind you what you have replaced incase one of those parts is a suggested fix for the next issue, then you know what not to replace on the next issue. Sorry i cant help much but perhaps check all your vaccum lines first to see if all connected or if you hear a hissing sound.
@jpeeps7346 ty for the tips man! Channel subbed!
I just changed air temperature sensor, and it appears to have somewhat fixed it, however now the check engine came on when it wasn't before lol.
@oilfieldman1209 thanks for the sub, i have been so busy and havent posted anything in a while but always want to help if i can. Lol, sounds like that song.... one thing leads to another... lol Do you have a scanner? I picked up one along time ago but if you dont have one, you shoud be able to put you key in the ignition and cycle to the accessory position 3 times and on the third time leave it in accessory and codes should come up in the odometer section. Then search the web for codes and start with the cheapest part as i mentioned before. Hope you get it figured!
Nice Thanks 😀
Glad it helped
Thank you for the video. My problem was a Code P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak). Lucky for me yours is the second video I watched having to do with the PCV, and my problem was just that the short black hose piece was super loose. Used a section of hose I cut from another used hose I had, and now no code. THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR ... 🙂
Yeah sometimes its just the little things hey, glad it worked for you
Very informative, thank you so much!
Quick question bro I have a 03 ram 4.7 magnum single cam rwd how many catalytic converters does it supposed to have original by dealers wise ?

Thanks, helped me out on my 2002 4.7, thanks
Glad to hear, just one of those little things but makes a difference
Thanks brother
You bet!!
Thank you!
This was very helpful and very detailed thank you !
You're welcome and glad it helped.
Very good.
so my problem is that the whole tube came off . i can’t find where the other end connects too. i see everyone changing out the pvc valve but i need to know where the other end goes.. TIA
Diagram points to the throttle body check for something missing there
Look to the passenger side of the engine by the firewall, it should connect back there
@@jpeeps7346 i found it on by the drivers side firewall. But of a pain to get to but got it. appreciate the reply
@@ricardocastro1989you're welcome and sorry it was a late reply but glad you found it!
Thanks!!!
Thank you for the upload, you helped a lot.
Glad it helped!
Thanks.
Any time
Thanks.
Glad it helped
Why you change it? Thank you
Shortly after buying the truck, I was having some problems with rough idle and had evap codes so I changed it out as it's a super cheap part and I wanted to remove that from the equation. If you are not sure if yours was done or how long ago, it does t hurt. You getting certain codes come up or are you having specific issues?
@@jpeeps7346 hi my friend thanks for the answer. Nop sometimes but not very often I have lol rough idle but almost nothing. My problem now is... my truck smokes when I start to run. I mean if I'm completely stopped it does nothing. When I hit for first time the gas pedal IE in a red to green light smokes blue then stop. I was reading about pcv can cause that but I don't think it will do that
@@ScoreSCM no problem. I'm no mechanic at all but that would not be the pcv valve. This would indicate that oil is passing into the combustion, so perhaps the valve seals?? Have you pulled your plugs and taken a look at them and see if they are wet and what color they are (meaning are they black from oil). If this was me I would check my oil level and then add an oil additive that helps the valve seals etc. and see how that goes, I'd also check my spark plugs to see what valve are causing issues. Good luck!!
@@jpeeps7346 my spark plugs looks normal some use but still ok. I would try what you said. Valve seals additive. Let's see what happens thanks for the update my friend
Many many thanks 🙏
Glad it helped!!
Thank You very much I have a 2002 4.7 Magnum. This is the best video I have seen that shows how to replace this piece
You're so welcome, it's such a finicky little part and I didnt find much on it so figured I'd do a video. Haven't had any other work to do but I may have to start doing more videos
what code were you getting P0440?
Sorry man I honestly dont recall, totally forgot to mention but next time I'll have to remember as I know it'll help.
Gracias amigo
Thank you, short and to the point. i broke mine in half trying to change my spark plugs. I couldn't figure out how to get it out until i saw your video.
Thanks for the feedback, glad it helped
Me too😢😂
thanks man i needed that help some idiot told me it was in the back of the engine on the driver side
Glad it was helpful, there definitely isn't much correct info ut there on this little part
I think it’s different on some trucks. Some on the back and some on the front depending on engine and year
Flex fuel ones and I believe the durangos are on the back of the engine
Hey guys let me know if you would like more videos posted when I do anything on the truck for future reference!!
Do you know the name of all the pcv valve but the tube to the back, and where to find it
Mario Montalvo I think you’re talking about the PCV hose. The only place I found one was on RockAuto, but it’s pretty cheap there.
Thanks ,you had the better video I seen on here
Thanks Quincy
Good video. Thank you for your help.
Edwin Benitez glad it was helpfull
Thanks bro..that helps a lot.
surfing blackies I’m glad it was of help to you, I may start posting more things as they come up
It was just the PCV valve without the pipe, I was able to use my old one and just cleaned it in some gas.
Wasn’t sure how to change mine and came across your video thank you a ton
You are most welcome and glad it benefitted someone. Not much of a TH-camr but I searched and Searched and couldn't find anything helpful. After tinkering I figured it out and then did it again for the video LOL. If you wanted to subscribe, I will post things I feel there isn't much info on or wrong info
Yeah I think not very people own a 2003 anymore lmfao that’s probably why hahaha
Lol, silly people.
@@jpeeps7346 quick question when you buy the new PCV valve at like O'Reilly's or whatever does it also come with that another tube to get rid of the old sludgy one
pokin pole so sorry for this super late reply, didn’t realize my notifications were off but the answer was not, we just got the pcv valve
