I embrace my solitude. I start each day with a 4km round trip walk (no phone or headphones) for a coffee. This start to my day, anything from 5.15 to 6.00am is my time to collect my thoughts, get my cadences for the day ect. At the cafe I sit to have my coffee, chat to the regulars, start the day's social exchange. By the time I get home the plan for the day has been drafted.

Recently when i was nearing the end of two very highly architecturally designed houses a couple l know called in to see the places. I didn't know they knew I was building them as I had never mentioned them to anyone. After they walked around the two places the only comment from the guy was "the garage entrance should have been higher" and that was it. Just one negative comment, nothing at all about the other aspects, just one negative comment. I steer clear of these folk now.

I'm over 60. I agree I've changed alot over the last few years, a divorce out of the blue sought of added to my change. I wouldn't say I now have a "couldn't give a fuck" attitude but I am certainly trying to move the priority of myself further up the list. I am famous for diving in and helping everyone, I'm trying to temper this enthusiasm even though it's rusted on in my bones. Great monologue BTW.

I was always there for my family, ... to treat me like the embarrassment, the strange one. They needed me to be in that role. I gave it up and refused to play it. They responded with distance. If I wasn't going to be what they needed me to be they would let me go completely. So, Im gone, living in South America with a newfound family that respects me more than I've ever been before. Now I'm exploring who I am and who I can be. Its actually an adventure.
