41:56 Astonishingly beautiful
Does anybody know what painting is that?
Forever the standard by which performances of this score will be measured.
i was in the car,12 years old,on the radio this is wonderful came out.
This was awarded a "rosette" in the Penguin Guide to Classical Compact Discs that i often read 35 years ago as a teenage boy so i mail-ordered the CD through BMG Music Club that came out to around $7 through one of their many "buy 1, get 2 free" sales ($14.98 + S&H) and got the Dover reprint of the Durand orchestral score for $16.95 through the Dover reprints mail-order music catalog so i could try and follow along while listening to the CD that had Francois Boucher's "Shepherd watching a sleeping shepherdess" for cover art on the CD liner notes to stir the pastoral romantic imagination. Those were the days.
Un monument 💥💥❤️🔥💥
This to me is the best thing I’ve heard that Ravel wrote. This is such an epic journey in musical beauty. Thank you for putting it out there.
Tomita better
The Dutoit interpretation played by the Montreal symphonic orchestra is and will always be the most beautiful rendition of this masterpiece. I don't think I can even go to a live performance and perhaps it's for the better that my show at the Hamburg Philharmonic got cancelled during covid, because every other recording just sounds OFF after having listened to this one!
Ravel's masterpiece. Haunting melodies, sumptuous and amazing orchestration. The sound world Ravel creates in D&C is transportive, richly atmospheric, and sensual.
50:10 is beautiful
I needed to hear this piece today😭
1:32-1:46 is gorgeous.
38:27 Ravel studying spectral analysis?
what did you mean by this
@@earnstationvro5824 Each change in color is an octave lower. Every lower pitch is accompanied by another instrument an octave higher to create an illusion of modulating octaves seamlessly. The pattern is hard to describe but you can think of it like very steep stairs.
fresh misuc
First recording of the MSO with Dutoit and also the first to be released on CD for the MSO. Dutoit and the MSO still own this masterpiece, after 4 decades.
Maybe one of the best pieces ever!
I asked my local orchestre why Ravel always sounds good regardless of where and when. Simple he said, the sheet music isn't expensive and Ravel was so clear in writing it out. Beethoven is anyones guess.
IMO the best ballet score ever written. 56 minutes of pure transportation to another world. Never gets boring throughout, brilliant orchestration and atmospherics with the use of wordless choir and to close it out, one of the most ingenious bachannals in 5/4 no less. Solo opportunities throughout with a massive percussion section. What more could you want.
that wat she said
Charles dutiot One of the best version of this wonderfull music one of my favourite peices of classical music. music I guess people will be listening to this grate werk For the next two thousand years I guess this music is timeless Ravel wanted to find his Greek aphrodite in this music did seiji osowa conduct this in another version I think
Literally my favorite piece ever ❤️
This is the music you'll hear entering heaven. Transitioning from this world to heaven.
Not in heaven at all..this is earthly ecstasy...orgasmic love.
This song makes me want to KMS in a good way
Дирижёр, предположительно, Константин Иванов?
There are several great versions on youtube, but I think this one is the best. As for Ravel's work, I agree 100% with Yamcha the wolf.

The loveliest excerpt imo
Very dramatic.

@@kevinjordan1168 you are welcome :)
Thank you ❤️❤️✨✨
XI. Lever du jour mine favorite too :) best tale-woods hymn. Ravel is truly Pan or Orpheus.
Thank you for your post! If I may, I think the finale (Danse générale) starts at 51:26 . The current time stamp misses the best opening part!

Quelle magnifique œuvre de Ravel, je ne m'en lasserai jamais. Musique qui se marie parfaitement avec un grand film d'amour et d'aventures. Posté le 05.09.2022
Very sad that the original video got taken down, so many views and comments
Why did that happen?
I thought so. Thank you for the confirmation.
I've heard Suite no.2 by Dutoit & OSM at Tokyo in February1985.Many thanks!
