A little bit about my writing journey in completing my first novel: Seas of Grief. Sorry for the poor audio, I'm still new to this :) Let me know if you want to see other videos, I'd love to do one exploring the actual story/world of Seas of Grief, there's a lot there. I've also been working on a very unique project called The Final Gathering, for the October/Halloween season and would love to ...
2:56. I prefer the dice method myself for map starters. It’s quicker for D&D campaigns. But I’m also the type of person who builds entire worlds at a time so that they can geographically accurate 😅.
Waterworld, was a solid movie
Great video!
Holy heck, congrats! Ive been writing since i was about twelve, so by now ive got quite a backlog of potential ideas and WIPS, but its so exciting to see a kid fully committing and actually finishing the book! Makes a guy really want to get back into consistent writing.
Another banger of a video. Thanks for the chat and inspiration man!
Recently I've started writing a story (Because I was inspired by sam) and I was a little bit worried because it wasn't the traditional hereos journey. But thanks to this video, I'm no longer worried. Thank you Sam.
Great video! Might I offer a suggestion on how you can grow your channel. Make more YT shorts. These appear on peoples recommended much easier and will allow you to get more views and more followers. Once you have posted enough shorts and gotten a bigger followinging then your awesome videos will get more recognition. Thanks so much for this video and keep doing what you are doing!
Indoor Sam makes his debut
Charming authenticity. Congratulations on manifesting your words into existance. It was indeed an inpiring video. I hope you get to keep on shining by being yourself, and motivate others to do the same. I know you motivated me, at the very least. Thank you, Sam. Wishing you the best. :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! Glad I could help, I wish you the best in all your creative endeavors!
Okay, but what if the intent of my worldbuilding is to exploring the world _With_ my audience..? I’ve got one entry up thus far, if anyone’s interested.😃 Working on the second entry.
Hmmm... that sounds interesting, tell me more about it
Well, have you heard of the Eternal Ruins? That one’s not mine, but I’ve had the idea for a little while to have a character that explores the world they live in. Watching that series pop up made me want to start on my own project. Lol
This is fantastic
Bro congrats on just making the thing exist! I’m 35 and see myself back at your age only I didn’t have the gusto to finish anything. This is inspiring. Thank you.
I really appreciate the support! It's helpful for me to hear that there are others like me who benefit from what I share. I wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavors, and it's never too late to start/finish something!
Feedback! While the script was good, you constantly looking down to read it was weirdly distracting, I would suggest that you learn short sections of it by heart for every background cut, the magic of editing is that you can do how many takes you want until you feel satisfied haha :)
Appreciate the feedback!
Chill brother you were born in 08
I'm just gettin started
this is really inspiring!! how did you order a single copy of your book and would you mind sharing how much it cost?
Thanks for your support! Yeah absolutely, I can't remember exactly how much it cost me but I think it was around $20-30. I used a website called Blurb, and I did have to do all the formatting and cover design outside of that program. Hope this helps!
Great insights! Thanks. Arcane season 1 was already a masterpiece. It was nice to see that season 2 also lived upto the high expectations! I loved it a lot. It was so emotional & entertaining with a satisfying ending! So, it's good to see more people like you who also get it & enjoy it too! 🙏Would like to hear more of your Arcane thoughts in future videos!
Thanks for your support! For sure, I'll probably do a few more in the future!
Definitely a wake up call for me, pretty helpful and inspiring, thanks for the video! Much love, and good writing! 🩵
Hey thanks for the support! Good luck in all your creative pursuits!
Love this. Awesome topics man. Appreciate it.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Keep at it! Congratulations!
FINALLY… a good review 😂 Absolutely loved both seasons but I can see the flaws in s1. I was emotionally gripped in s2
Appreciate the support, yeah I agree. S2 isn't getting the attention it deserves as much anymore, the hype is dying off way too fast.
@ agreed
This was really great man. Loved the conversation. As a creative person... sometimes you feel like you're trapped in the lonely prison of your own mind.
Good for you kid. I wrote a novel-lenght story when I was around sixteen. Don't let yourself stagnate. I would highly, highly, highly recommend that you do everything in your power to get enough sleep. Stay healthy. That's where the bulk of my problems started.
Wow, that's something I haven't really heard a lot before and something I should definitely watch out for, thanks. And I wish you luck in any writing/creative pursuits!
I don't know why the algorithim recommended this video to me, but I'm glad you wrote a book and I wish I had done the same thing when I was your age!
Bro- why you talking into your wallet? 🤣🤷♂
lol, I have one of those fancy phone case wallets. I use my phone for my mic 😂
The map of middle earth is realistic because Tolkien base it on mid-evil Europe
One thing i noticed from many writers is that their naming process falls into a weird spectrum, from random words from other languages, to creating their owns from scratch, very few i have seen that investigate real names and use those instead. Good video tho
This is really impressive, I’m excited to see it published
Thanks, I appreciate the support!
I will name thee Bushwhacker, for I found ye first in the thick leaves of thy backyard
lol. With honor, I accept the title thou hast bestowed upon me.
Would love to hear your thoughts in other videos, i love your analysis of the show from a writing standpoint, not enough channels out there doing that. (Besides the goat schnee). Im looking forward to your analysis of vi and caitlyn. Because of the sharp turn both characters and the relationship took there has been a lot of conflicting discource online. I personally love both their arcs, albeit i woudlve loved to see more.
I really appreciate that! Yeah I probably will do other videos about Arcane, and I'd have to agree with you on the Vi and Caitlyn arcs, I thought they were great.
That juxtaposition and contrasts of duality really gave Arcane such great depth and nuance. And that is on top of its stellar characters, writing and setting that really brought such concepts to life. A good explainer.
Personally season 1 was better than season 2 the writing hit more deep into the character emotions, and considering it as masterclass is a far from big take, I understand your opinion but there are far more better written stories than just this which I would pick over.
I think both seasons were very very well written, and I definitely see where you're coming from, I personally enjoyed season 2 a little more. But I do think there were some pacing issues, especially in the finale of the second season and season 1 feels a lot less rushed. I also agree that there are tons of other stories out there that writers can learn from, I think Arcane is a great example for utilizing juxtaposition in storytelling. I appreciate your comment!
Leaving a comment here because i would like to see this guy succeed :)
Wow, I really appreciate that, thank you for your support
Very well done! I was surprised to finish the video and see only 435 views, keep it up!
Loved this video Sam! Made me excited to dig into season two of the show.
Thank you so much for the support, I appreciate you!
I love what you have to say about how the show utilizes juxtaposition! I think it's something that doesn't often get mentioned in writing, and it can be a very effective tool!
Thanks, yeah Arcane uses juxtaposition so well. I've learned a lot from it and hope I can apply such a cool technique into my own writing.
I haven't seen any of season two yet (I don't mind spoilers), but I loved what they did in the first season! It's such a well-produced and written show.
You gotta watch season 2, it's incredible!
I agree Rick's creations is amazing at world-building!🌍 Also, your clear explanation really helped me, Thanks! 😊 ^^
Yey now my dwarves have funny scottish accents :]
Already on my TBR
I really appreciate that!
Oh hey, nice video. I pray you well, especially on your upcoming projects. Personally, I'm at 56k words with my novel. It's fantasy, about fighting against corruption. I have indeed learnt that it is not easy, but I view it like work. So what if I get a writer's block? What am I going to do, not do my work? I view the block as part of my work, and I have to get over it, and I've gotten over many of them. And each time I have overcome an obstacle, it has filled me with great excitement. Personally, I'm going to commit hard. I have 12 book ideas. I didn't have as long of an outline as you, but it was a helpful one. I used the 7-point system, and it gave me about the length of a page. It was extremely helpful for me-anyone reading this will probably find it helpful, too. Stories excite me, and I'm definitely excited to be working towards my dream, although lack of motivation sometimes knocks on the door. But yet again, I get many times reminded how fun I actually find writing. I write 1000 words a day, and I encourage everyone to do the same, and go even beyond. I try not to have any free days.
A lot of wisdom in this comment. Sounds like you've got a lot of story ideas and are dedicated to the creative journey, it's great to see! Good luck my friend!
This video helped me a lot, as an aspiring worldbuilder and writer I find it difficult to find everything in one place. Thanks for uploading, I've been subscribed since you were at 80, and keep posting these amazing videos!!
Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate it!
Yes! Sam uploaded!!
Awesome video! Writing a book at your age is such a flex. What you said about not actually inventing the story but serving as its gateway to the real world was SO relatable, and a lot of famous authors have said the same thing. I’ve subbed and enabled all notifications so if/when your book gets published I can hopefully be one of your first customers! Keep up the great work!
I really appreciate your kind words support! Good luck in all your creative endeavors!
Thanks for the advice bro
Thanks for the motivation 😊
This sounds awesome! I know you have already gotten some feedback on this. But making videos about your story/ reading parts of it for us will really get people interested and make them want to read it.
Absolutely, that's something that's definitely coming soon...
@ awesome! Good luck man
As a 15-year-old currently struggling to find motivation to write, this was so helpful. I want to finish a novel and possibly get it published while I'm still a teenager (unlikely, but still), and you're so right about just needing to keep trying. Thank you!! :)
You got it! I hope to hear about your novel and I hope you can get it published too. Remember, age is just a number and nothing is stopping us from doing what others do, thanks for your support!
2:41. Getting obsessed is actually really important. I've currently been running a dungeons and dragons campaign sinch the 28th of march, the plot of it did start off really simple but I constantly grew that plot and expanded it to the point that I was thinking about it every moment of the day. And that really is motivation to countinue writing the campaign.
So relatable, I love D&D. Appreciate your support!
