    Cool videos man, I just came across your channel and I like how you rock the rotary, 3000 grit is cake for that combo, you can actually level 3000 grit with something like the sm Arnold yellow foam pad 50ppi from harbor freight and a polish like M205 or M200. 1200-1400 rpm’s is all you need, on some paints you can do it in one step, no need to follow up with the black foam 80 ppi pad and a lower 600-1000 rpm speed to finish.

      @@STILLNIGHTPEARL I appreciate that man ✊ I like being able to slice through my sanding marks quick so that’s why I tend to stick with wool. I used to run foam and polish when I first worked with rotary but slowly transitioned over and just let my 21mm DA mop up the remaining holograms

    Compound on the plastics is crazy. Should have taped those up!

    • @BDetailedAutoDetailing
      @BDetailedAutoDetailing หลายเดือนก่อน

      I assume you’re referring to the splatter on the plastics. Some of it is from the sanding slurry slinging off the DA when rinsing the disc and spinning it out. Some of it is compound. From my experience, as long as you don’t let either the slurry or compound sit on the plastics overnight or in the sun, a quick wipe using glass cleaner and a MF towel takes care of it, which I’ll usually do either before or during the wash after polishing. But I agree that taping is a good practice and you definitely wanna avoid having your pad & compound make contact with a plastic while the buffer is going. Save a lot of headache.

      Indeed, that’s where I really like following up with a long throw DA (Rupes 21mm/15mm) and a microfiber pad after the first cut step. It will take care of those halos in most cases. Then following up with a softer foam pad to finish off I find really brings it all together. Refinement is key. Reason I say most cases is because if it’s a finnicky paint really prone to micromarring or ticks marks, then maybe stepping out your halos after the first cut with a medium wool/stiffer foam on rotary may be more useful to help transition you out of a tough to finish area. Not all paints like microfiber pads, so you gotta adapt when that comes to your door (if you’re doing this professionally or really care about the car you’re working on) This can also be applied to certain shapes on the panel where the DA can’t get full contact patch with the pad. Then stepping out with a rotary to smooth out the halos will prove to be effective. Technique is going to be big there though as you have to know how to finish with the rotary.

    Detailers should own a paint thickness gauge. But more importantly know that clear is very thin, as thin as a ziplock bag. Don’t spend too much time sanding or polishing one section.

    I was recommended this tool by the great Dave Patterson of Oberk Car Care & Gloss University. We got to talking about denibbing and polishing paintwork in the collision world, which led to the suggestion of picking this tool up, mainly because of its power and efficiency when it comes to sanding & polishing. I must say.. it’s absolutely amazing. Power is off the charts. Extremely effective. From the first time I’ve used it to now, this tool has served me well in many applications. For being a tool that wasn’t even on my radar, this easily has made it into top 3 favorite polishers that I have currently. Lots of good things I can say about it and I’ll do a review as I rack up a few more hours, but for now, I just wanted to share a video showcasing what this tool can do, and hopefully be some entertaining detail footage for you to watch.

      @BDetailedAutoDetailing do you think regular meguirs ultimate compound (black bottle with a picture of a red hood on the bottle) would have any chance at bringing it back from 600?

      @mymediadog1 ปีที่แล้ว

      awesome! Thanks!

    • @BDetailedAutoDetailing
      @BDetailedAutoDetailing ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thomasseiter9841 It would have a chance but you’ll need to have more patience as the abrasive make up in that is not nearly as aggressive as some of the other compounds on the market. With that said, I’ve used ultimate compound a number of times and if I had to use it to get out 600, I could do it. Still use rotary & wool pad but probably use slightly more product for each set of passes and just slowly work the scratches out. You can try putting a little bit of pressure down on the machine and running it at a higher speed without heating it up too much to help it.
