Ep. 110 | Moms on Mushrooms Sharing Their Journeys & Wisdom (Encore Presentation)
The traditions surrounding Christmas may trace back to magic mushrooms? In ancient Siberia, shamanic practices included the consumption of the iconic red-and-white mushroom, Amanita muscaria. Shamans, in traditional dress resembling Santa Claus-with red-and-white robes and pointed boots-would deliver sacred, psychedelic mushrooms to their communities during the winter solstice, often entering homes through the chimney due to heavy snow blocking the doors. The mushrooms would then be hung near the fire to dry, echoing the stockings we hang today. Even reindeer are known to nibble on these mushrooms, leading to a state of intoxication that may have inspired the story of flying reindeer. These mushrooms were seen as gifts of transformation offered once a year.
In this episode, Michaela sat down with four courageous mothers-Amy, Sema, Katie, and Meredith-to explore the profound gifts psychedelic mushrooms offer modern-day mothers. These women share heartfelt stories of the deep love, connection, and understanding they received from psilocybin mushrooms.
We are rerunning this special episode to revisit their powerful stories-an offering of inspiration and insight into the gifts that mushrooms can bring to our lives, much like those sacred traditions of old.

10:10 Amy Frankel shares her experience with microdosing psilocybin and how it has transformed her ability to be present and attentive to her children's needs. Through this practice, she has discovered a newfound sense of clarity and connection which has helped her learn to work with her triggers with more grace and intention.
21:09 J. Sema takes us on her personal journey as a mother and how a particular psilocybin experience guided her towards healing her relationship with men and masculinity and a deeper self-actualization. She emphasizes the ways in which this journey opened up immeasurable gratitude for the opportunity to be a Mom and how it has directly impacted the way she mothers.
32:54 Katie Moseley shares her reasons for choosing to microdose psilocybin mushrooms and how this has helped her gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of all beings and the importance of compassion and empathy in our daily interactions. She also speaks to the significance of having a support system while working with psychedelics, highlighting the importance of guidance and community.
39:23 Meredith Thomas recounts a mystical experience in which she felt a deep connection with the divine. Through integrating this journey, Meredith has gained a profound sense of wisdom and healing, recognizing the immense potential for growth and transformation that lies within the psychedelic experience. She encourages listeners to embrace the unknown and trust in the process, for it is through this surrender that true healing and growth can occur.

Enlightenment' is also a misnomer. Just another carrot as advertised. As if there is something missing. The fact is any shock, slap, beat up, or ecstasy can wake you up. Meaning It's a shock back into your most essential survival mechanism. You have to drop the act from the actual. In any shock the defences are weakened and ego is dissipated and one finds oneself back in their original grain. The self sense has to look at it's mortality in surrender to what it does not understand . Like thank goodness we don't have to act anymore. But for many taking 'psychedelics' can destroy the already unbalanced individual. For life. It's called precipitating factors to psychosis. Some don't come back and are no longer with us as we. once knew them. And it's not a good look in fact it's madness. The natural stare is not a supernatural stare. It's back to factory settings and being in the pristine state. Over time rigorous honesty and sincerity brings one home as well. Any no self state is not an achievement . Anything above and beyond all you are now has become commercial and even corrupted .Bipolar is not enlightenment'. And for those who know it they can talk under wet cement for days at a time. It's grandiose and high. It's not enlightenment', it's bi polar. Making bi polar sound like a perpetual high is obtuse. Just wait for the lows which are hell on earth, i am not fooled here. Seen it in every hospital I have worked in. Same horse different jockey. Forget it.

I’m so grateful for the conversation here. Something clicked for me at 40:39 when she said “it doesn’t matter if the universe doesn’t care, or if everything goes away tomorrow, this is meaningful”. I also had a long deconstruction process from Christianity. And later on took psychedelics. Over a year ago I had a trip where I could see the void of energy that absorbed all manifested light energy but “I” was the “Void” of “empty/full” awareness that absorbed even that. I’ve seen traditions from every corner of the earth that have their way of describing this but struggled personally with the message I kept getting as I was leaving that space “nothing matters, nothing matters”. While integrating that, I knew that also meant somehow that everything matters and ultimately if nothing and everything matter simultaneously then there’s nothing to say, there’s just being. Or just this. However I didn’t feel that in my experience. I only felt the existential emptiness. Recently, balance of meaning with meaninglessness has been coming into my experience more and I died laughing when I heard her essentially say “it doesn’t matter that nothing matters”. somehow the double negative helped the thought loop unwind for me. Thank you both for your vulnerability and thank you for your podcast McKayla!

I think that psychedelics can be good for the deconstruction process; healing, shadow work, metabolizing emotion, and getting a direct experience of … non dual.. All… Consciousness.. and psychedelics as you are pointing to are an experience. Non duality is not an experience. The content for me with psychedelics has stopped stopped. it’s just empty luminosity space. Get support with integration!! If you need it’s the gold!! I love Angelo he has instrumental in process! ❤ thanks for watching!

Ex Mormon here. Brittney is awesome! I just got out of my first mushroom trip. It was definitely much more difficult than a thought. Somewhat of a bad trip. I'm trying to integrate it now but man it's very tough. I'm grateful I follow people like Angelo Dilullo. If I were to try and extract some sort of universal truth about reality from my experience, it could lead to a pretty skewed, dysphoric perspective of life. Psychedelics all take place on the level of mind or consciousness. I'm sure you can have a glimpse of nonduality, but my experience definitely felt more revealing of my subconscious rather than of objective reality

Why you take a pill ? Or pray to god ? Or do any ritual ? To escape from the world as it is. Reality is anything won't change a fact world is as it is and it is brutal. We say in this video go take a pill and you will be happy. Will you ? Will any experience or belief will change how we are as human beings ? So the fact is all this LSD is all about individual experience so still all about individualism and to enhance this individual you already build in years.

endogenous DMT is a neurotransmitter that regulates our perception of dimensional reality. There is a lot more going on around us that we “can’t see” but many say they can “feel”. DMT inhaled as vapor breaks down the filters and barriers we build over a lifetime and shows you pure consciousness ❤

We don't necessarily know if DMT is an endogenous neurotransmitter. there have been amounts found in the human body, BUT there are a lot of chemicals floating around in our body. Polymers and macromolecules are constantly being cleaved and reformed throughout our entire life. There is no convincing evidence that shows DMT is produced and utilized effectively in the body in a neuromechanical sense. I WISH there was. It would make my research much more easy

Sometimes, a perceptual shift is what’s being called for, and sometimes solving and making changes called for, both can be true

great to see this! just starting to watch. have not read his book yet. i think important to point out that when a government like the US, or Germany, institutes a severe 'anti drug' policy they are not really anti drug. the war on drugs in the US is not because the government wants to stop people from using drugs, it is a way to make the prices of these illegal drugs to be very high, and the commerce controlled by criminal organizations affiliated with secret agencies of the government. in every case: heroin, cocaine, cannabis, LSD, MDMA. these industries fund black ops. governments are not trying to help people. and also so the positive uses of some of these drugs, like psychedelics, mdma, and cannabis that could undermine the profits of legal pharmaceutical drugs, are squandered.... would love to have a discussion with him, because i think he is good hearted but wrong on some important things, for example, he said the CIA didn't want people to take LSD. that is probably wrong. they helped underground chemists produce the stuff.

Love the content thank you. Having a really hard time getting past the interruptions and sounds interfering with being able to hear your guest though.

I would also add that I like to see only the person speaking on the screen. It is hard for me to look at a split screen. Thank you for your service. <3

great episode, grateful for it podcasting is a difficult and ever evolving practice, and it's so easy to interrupt someone when i get excited and full of ideas, stimulated by the guest ~ one of the best concepts i've adopted as a host, has been the acronym W.A.I.T = why am i talking it's helped me a lot, maybe others too! ase

Wow, fascinating! golf was my gateway to the mysteries of consciousness and how it flows (or doesn't flow) through our body/mind.... thank you again Michaela for your service bringing such healing wisdom out....i wonder if Brooke has discovered HeartMath... Annika Sörenstam (world's best woman golfer) got into it. might be better than brain waves to measure getting in the zone.....
