Echo Bad Ass Glass Fly Rod
I enjoy most fly rods. However, very few bring me the pure joy of the Echo Bad Ass Glass fly rod. This rod takes me back in time, to when I was a kid casting Accardo poppers under gum ball trees for bluegill; at the time, glass rods were all the rage. Fast forward 40 years and Echo Fly Rods figured out how to bring the relaxing joy of casting glass without the unbearable weight. It truly is a pleasure to cast. I finally got to spend a couple of days fishing it, and I wasn’t disappointed. I chose the 5 weight version for freshwater and some saltwater applications. This rod will make you learn to cast properly and anyone can feel it properly load. In the infamous words of the designer, #timrajeff, all you have to do is “lengthen and smoothen” your casting stroke. That full tip is available on @Madriveroutfitters with Brian. But here it is, in full fishing action.

Broadhead Review (Are expensive broadheads worth the money)
มุมมอง 20828 วันที่ผ่านมา
In this video I review two different broadheads for archery. One is a name brand that I picked up at a major store; these shall remain nameless to avoid any legal claims. The second broadhead was purchased off #temu . The name brand broadheads were 3/$45. The ones off Temu were 12/$8.50. The review was done using a Barnett Crossbow, shooting approx 370/fps. Distance is a measured 23 yards with ...

Boat Maintenance Tip
มุมมอง 783 หลายเดือนก่อน
@RYOBITOOLSUSA makes an electrostatic sprayer that is wonderful for easing boat maintenance. This tool allows me to spray the interior of hatches, under gunnels, and even safety gear with a product that helps prevent mold and mildew. By spraying these areas every couple of weeks, I've prevented the vast majority of mold/mildew even though I live in Florida and the boat is in non-climate contro...

Just a Florida Thing (Tarpon and Gator)

A sample of how wild Florida can be and how you need to pay attention at all times. I was enjoying some tarpon fishing when a gator decided to crash the party.
The Lair

Drone footage of the snook lair. The more you look, the moe you will see. Mangroves are the home of snook, who wait to ambush unsuspecting prey as it moves by. This video shows just how difficult it can be to reach these fish with any type of lure or bait.

Tactics for Success (Captain John Tarr and Captain Jim Manus)
Definitely an art to be a good fly fisherman. I can't do it, but love to watch it
@@ScottScarbrough-uk3te anyone can learn. It does take practice to become proficient, but I've taught kids from 10 to adults in their 70s.
Well done!
Good take, John from Mr. Cole in tville👍
The Green flex bottle is better suited for Flies that use felxable materials
yep, that got silver prince all over it. well done.
hey good video & nice fish. props for pop'n the fish off. I have the same encounters i always know when someone is feed'n the puppies. like the use of the gummy minnow reminds me of gambusia.
I wish I could've popped him off sooner. The original plan was to bring him on shore and release him in another area, away from the gator. Typically, these gators won't charge onshore when you're standing there. But, this one was definitely used to people and not scared. Still, the tarpon escaped and swam off. Hopefully strong enough to get away.
Is that the axiom 2x?
@@gregjr63 yes, it is

💕Wow🤍🤍🧡🧡🤍🧡🧡🧡🧡
I need to come fish with you again!
Come on! Tarpon season is just getting started!
You are a true Pro John!
Thank you!
It must take some serious patience to fly fish.
A little bit of a learning curve, but definitely worth it!
@@johntarr9292 I'll take your word for it. Lmao
enjoyed so much when flip and lefty fished together on a tv series a while back maybe channel 7 here on nyc tv
I'm curious where you find the pole material and what wall thickness the pole is.
The pole is a carbon fiber pole supplied by TFO Outfitters. I don't know the wall thickness off the top of my head, but I'm sure their website has it.
Disappointed that they didn’t divulge the location of this wonderful video!
No one reveals their locations. But, I will say New Smyrna Beach, FL
I practice pretty much the same way except I just aim at sticks in the yard or the odd high weed. I also practice my side arm casts under a tree canopy and my favorite type of cast is curving behind trees, stumps, or rocks. I prefer side are most of the time to curve it behind something but can usually be more accurate just curving the wrist after the cast. Sorry to add all that.... Great video, I just got excited to see someone practice in a similar way.
That's a great way too. Glad to see people practicing. Personally, I think it is something far too many people don't do, especially before a trip.
Nice
Way to go! How do you like Flip line?
I love it on the Axiom II-X, they were made for each other. It works quite well on all moderately fast to fast rods. Not so much on slow rods. Also, if you get the mono cord, it is extremely stiff. I have a braided core model that works well in Florida's winter.
I can’t begin to thank you for taking us out John…even if mine broke off instantly after letting it know it was hooked! See you again next year!!!
It was my pleasure! So glad you both enjoyed the day and can't wait to do it again!
Love the Gordon
Honestly best casting instructions I ever understood
Good evening, gorgeous drone- catch ya later-
go fishing! ) thats just killing time))
Very nice video a few people I know they use hula hoops just lay them out there and cast at them
That works, as long as they vary the angles and distances.
Excellent and believable , usable skills for real fishing situations. Keeping it realistic!!
So we should have open season on the “out of control herd of manatees” and protect melaleuca, Brazilian pepper and Australian pines? Perhaps we should repeal the net ban, stop tarpon stamps and kill all the pesty mangroves. You two are f@$&ing nuts.
"Promosm"
What size of jig heads are you using with these baits?
Anywhere from 1/10th ounce to 1/8 ounce.
For the Kicker CrabZ, I use a 1/8 Oz keel weighted hook or a weightless if I want them on the surface.
Thanks for the reply and the info! I’ve had my eye on these for awhile but haven’t pulled the trigger.
Where can you get practice targets like you have?
I made the metal ones, with a plasma cutter. However, as soon as I get my wood shop set back up, I'll be making some out of wood (much lighter and easier to transport). You can also cut them out yourself, using a 2 by 6 board and just a rough shape. Then a double sided nail to push them into the ground
@@johntarr9292 Thank you!
Let me know if i can buy a few when you get the wood shop up and running.
@@cathykallberg2647 I will.
Cathy, I have an artist friend, Nick Ewing that is making targets and they are gorgeous. If you visit my website, you can see photos of them in the latest fishing report. You can also email him at nickewing612@gmail.com
About as REAL of a fly fishing video as it gets!
So thankful to Flip and what he brought to a young boy(Myself 😊) and his Father(my Dad)growing up in the Bronx❤️. Relocated to Florida at age of 20 and it had everything to do with what I watched on the Walkers Cay Chronicles. Now I enjoy those same old shows with my son and push poling him in my Gheenoe along the same flats Flip use to push pole ❤️. We’ve decided to start our own show and hope we can bring the same joy and knowledge Flip brought to us.
Nice video, John👍(Fritz here...). Hope to get back out on the water soon after my 10+ year hiatus.
Thanks Fritz! You need to, water is good for the soul!
This was awesome! Almost a perfect video! Only one thing that I see was missing….🙋♂️😂
We will get you out there soon!
Greatest show ever and Flip is my Micky Mantle! Wish I could shake his hand someday!
Im just learning of the fan page or there'd be one more on it.
Dude looking forward to getting you to help me with mine
Can't wait buddy!
is there a certain type of wood you would recommend? Any to stay away from?
Greg, any of your hardwoods work well, especially if they come from a water type area. Brazilian Pepper, Mangrove, Cypress, etc. Just make sure it is mangrove that can be legally harvested.

I appreciate talent and Flip has it in fishing and video. ESPN blows
52 yr old bahamian here. Loved loved watching Flip.
Video should be titled, “just reeling in a redfish”
Haha! Glad you got him trained up!!
I try. Wish I could've included the commentary. It was priceless and I haven't laughed that hard in forever.
I could listen to Flip talk for hours and never tire of the stories. Thank you!
it's ok....he's dumping it into his own lake
Not hardly, going right into a wildlife protection area
You know I know just how that feels but I'd still trade places with you right now...
Yes, I know you would! They'll be here when you come back!
Need to come too the a basis bahamas
Good job
The Man! Met him the Keys growing up. Took a few casting lessons from he and Sandy at Lorelei. Masters!!
Lucky man. Flip and Sandy!
Very disappointing. You didn't show the cast, the hook set or the fly.
Kinda busy poling the skiff and setting up the cast to worry about filming during a critical part.
Legend.
