I was 4 years old and my Mom brought home one of Harry Hibb's music albums. I had already been playing a button accordion but I got a lot of music from listening to Harry Hibb's and I play one of his pieces on my channel and I have many more to upload. I enjoyed his music then and still do today. So sad he died too young. I learned stuff today about him I had no Idea about. I have always played by ear. I just got a new accordion back in 2011. I still love it today. The song I play in his style is "Irish Rover" such a great musician.

Was never big into the C&W stuff - but that Dianne Leigh is a great singer, and performer. And Brian Barron - terrific fiddler. And all the rest of course ... !

I wonder how many of the entertainers and audience is still a round now almost 50 years later? RIP-Harry Hibbs- I live in Rural Nfld. and back in the late60's to probably late 80's when 4 or more of the six night clubs within a 20 mile radius on a Saturday night would probably have a live band. Remember A rank Willis and many more entertainers from my general area. Now only 2 of these night clubs are in business. We hear a live band or two only at Summer festivals in this area now- 70's-80's great music era-The fun we had.

That was the year Mom took me down to the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto to meet him and I've had a love for Newfoundland music ever since. He gave me a record and his autograph! Fast forward 12 years after that (Friday 13th, 1987) I met him at the Pride of Erin on the Danforth three weeks after I was hit by a car and he told me if I ever play the accordion, play it from the heart instead of taking lessons.
