I am a half-chinese and half-viet who grew up in East Africa and spend my entire childhood and teen years there , this vid ngl made me really reminded me about the time i lived there and it really accurately represents my dad saying the exact same things. This guy is missing the point about colonialism. The Europeans didn't come here to "teach their ways". Congo was Belgium's slave colony...why would he expect their society to resemble Belgium in any way? The colonizers underdeveloped the continent and set up governing institutions for extracting resources for Europe instead of actually effectively running the country. Then they just left to replace one form of colonialism with another. Instead if iron shackles, its predatory loans and structural adjustment programs. Instead of appointing governors, its destabilizing their new governments with coups and bribes and owning their resources through multi-national corporatios. Africa never decolonized itself through revolution like China. It decolonized on the terms of the colonizers...which is not at all.

The lack of historical understanding here is outstanding. Importing Western systems of government and/or political organisation onto African countries that likely never had the necessary foundations to cope with and understand such radical cultural change is a naive notion.
